I had surgery July 2nd and my surgeon only requires 1 week of clear liquids. With that said, I haven’t been able to get much down without being in pain. Therefore, I’m going to do my best to not get dehydrated over the next 3 days and not focus on the Protein intake. I will make up for the protein when on full liquids (in 3days). I said that to say that stating your full liquid diet earlier than 3 weeks is fine. Especially if you feel healed enough (pain, swelling, nausea.... in check).
good luck to you 💕

I know this post is old but I had gastric surgery on 7/2/19 and it hurts every time I sip on anything. I’m freaking out about getting dehydrated but I can’t “stomach” the pain 🤦♀️

I have uhc complete choice ppo and they have told my surgeons office (on more than 1 occasion) that no prior authorization is required because Medicare doesn’t prior authorize RNY? Really? Basically their refusing to do a prior authorization. She couldn’t even submit it online. Have any of you had this happen. I have to sign an ABN 😩

For stats if anyone is wondering, this was my process:
*6 mo physician supervised diet/exercise
*5 years of BMI (didn't have to be over 35)
*my co-morbids are osteoarthritis, GERD, borderline DM, borderline hypertension, borderline high cholesterol
*my submitted BMI was 37 (I maintained my weight for 6 months, didn't try to lose weight)
*cardiac clearance
*psych clearance
**didn't need sleep clearance because I don't have apnea
Started process in November 2018
Final clearance was 4/16
Submitted to UHC on 4/19
Approved by UHC on 4/30 with no denials
Hey there LLaneRn,
I have UHC advantage plan as well. However, they have told my surgeons office that no prior authorization is required?! They had you go through a prior authorization process? I hope that their not trying to just hang me with an outrageous bill 😩
