Thanks shoppindiva! Great idea. FYI....I've been trying different protein shakes. My Dr. suggested Unjury. I found it at Unjury.com. Bought several different items....ready to drink, and powered chocolate.Like them both a lot, not as sweet as some of the others. Also a canister of unflavored and put scoop in oatmeal this AM. Held my appetite well today! I'm on a 1200 cal diet until Sat before then liquids. Take care!!

Hi Kia, My surgery is set for 11/4. Started my 2 week 1200 cal ---going ok so far. Keep in touch---let me know how you're doing! Gloria
  4. My surgeon suggested several to try---one of those being Unjury. I ordered a mix of items from Unjury.com. So far, I really like the pre-made shakes. Not too sweet. Also have flavorless protein powder to add to foods...no taste. I like what I've tried and plan to order more before 11/4 surgery.
  5. In complete agreement with above posters. Meet with Bariatric surgeon and team. Learn all that you can about the procedure. I was able to gain information by following medical twitter and the bariatric thought leaders that post some of the latest data on metabolic changes that surgery brings. Also I found a great podcast by Reeger Cortell ARNP, called "Weight Loss Surgery Podcast". In the past 6 months I only experienced one unprofessional encounter, and that was with Cardiologist during appointment for cardiac clearance. Was scheduled for this next Monday but got the call today to postpone 2 weeks as I'm just getting over bronchitis. Reset for 11/4. Good luck to you! Let us know how things are going!
  6. Thank you so much for the encouragement! Countdown begins for Monday. Keeping my mind focused on the overall outcome. When thoughts of certain foods come to mind, I acknowledge it and remind myself of the major change in health that's around the corner. Can't want to golf, ride a bike and the many activities I used to enjoy. I'm so grateful to be able to share on this website.
  7. Great news! Thanks so much for posting! Wishing you a quick complete recovery. I'm on for Monday 10/21.
  8. Thanks all for the post-op info! My surgery is next Monday 10/21.
  9. SISSYJ - Thanks for sharing your story! I turned 60 in May. My VSG is scheduled for next Monday 10/21. Like you mentioned, I can't wait to get back to my old self--yet embracing the changes that will come with surgery. Keep in touch!

    High Ferratin Levels

Yes! I understand....this is a long story--started in April-- but through this process of work-up for VSG, involving--Rheumatologist, Internist and GI, my ferritin came back at 1900 and iron saturation at 68% also elevated LFT for years and not a drinker. Diagnosed with Hereditary Hemochromotosis a month ago! I'm a nurse and was not familiar with it. I hope this helps. PM me if need more info. Finally I have an answer to years of debilating fatigue etc etc. My VSG is scheduled for 10/21! Can't wait!
  13. I'm so happy for you Mike! Keep moving forward--you're an inspiration to all!

    Judgemental Docs

Thanks for sharing your story....I too travel for work and I'm planning to have my surgery in a major city 3 hours from my home. My surgeon is highly recommended and excellent program. I saw a local cardiologist this past Thursday for my clearance. Totally body shamed me. Honestly, I've really never experienced it before and often I bring more of my own emotions on myself. Not with this....why are you here? What does your surgeon expect of me? why are you having bariatric surgery? what's wrong with diet, exercise and moderation? I felt awful. I went to work, and stewed about it all day...then sent a note off to the PA that works with my surgeon to make them aware as this cardiologist is within their Integrated Delivery Network. My surgeon's office apologized, thanked me for letting them know and they would send along to administration. The good news? He cleared me for surgery. His behavior, tone etc were unacceptable. I have one more item to check off and then submit for approval from insurance. I'm so grateful for this board and the openness of sharing. Thank you all.

Will continue to follow .... take care and have a great up-coming week.
