Kaiser Southern California question?
Krimsonbutterflies replied to starling618's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello, The 12 weeks are very informative, I went through West LA. You'll complete your labs. No smoking because your urine will be tested. Some weight loss is needed, but you absolutely can't gain any weight after your first weigh in. Maintain a positive attitude because classroom participation and attitude was evaluated, don't be late and you can only makeup 2 classes. Try to complete everything during your Options classes as early as possible and make your required appointments as soon as you start the program if not before. Surgery approval is as soon as you complete everything and then your file will be evaluated by the Bariatric team. Some people had surgery dates as early as 3 weeks after class. One person was a revision, she had surgery during, those of us who were serious had dates. You have one year to complete your surgery after finishing the class. I was in a pretty decent group of people. Everyone wasn't serious about the surgery, some were just into the hype. Some people had been through the class 3 times and never had the procedure due to fear or blocking themselves (they admitted that), didn't want to commit to the lifestyle change, there were a few negative Neds & Nancy's (ignore them and distance yourself from those ppl) and finally the know it all ppl., because they know someone or a close family member had the surgery and their plan wasn't like this!!! Get the information that Kaiser wants you to follow, show up and commit, communicate with the Bariatric team, one week you'll get samples of the Bariatric vitamins, get z highlighter to highlight your notes (makes it easier to review and refresh once you have surgery). Enjoy the ride, this journey is for you and you get out of it what you put into it. Please note: All Kaiser Permanente Bariatric programs are not the same. My program at West LA Kaiser was totally different from my friend who went through South Bay Kaiser. Even our after surgery stages per our surgeons. Still both very affective. Each surgeon has their own experiences and methods. -
Day 3 post op and can drink liquids so well it scares me
Krimsonbutterflies replied to CammyC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mooki, Thank you for the thoughtful support and positive feedback. I appreciate you and everyone else on BP. As a private sleever myself, this site allows me to share discreetly with my peers while obtaining valuable information. This site along with a sleeved now revised to rny friend, my son (Resting in Heaven) helped me to make this life changing decision. We are all right on track with questioning our vsg surgeries and wondering if it worked, hydration and or stage consumptions, feeling lethargic and etc. I'm also dealing with insomnia, hate it so much. I think the full liquids have ran its course and I need pureed food before Tuesday. I'm going to see how I feel after a few errands tomorrow. Question for all of us, who else in oit group didi tell others or limited pp about their wls? -
Super cold hands and feet?
Krimsonbutterflies replied to chalcrow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm already cold and I just had surgery on March 3rd. I'm normally the hot person. My feet are like ice blocks, my family is amazed that I'm using the heater as often as I do (everyday, lol). -
The best decision I ever made

Also, with the pandemic outbreak, I'm sure ppl would understand if you decided not to go or not to order. Social distancing is the common practice in California. -
Day 3 post op and can drink liquids so well it scares me
Krimsonbutterflies replied to CammyC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey March 3rd group. Here's a quick update: I'm still fatigued from doing nothing. I don't meet my 64 oz. goal for hydration, I'm only halfway there. So I started with the popsicles this week to help me. I take the Prilosec and the bariatric multivitamins eveyday, without issue now. I don't like the taste, but I will manage. 3/6 incisions have shed the skin glue naturally and looks amazing. Going to start using Mederma and vitamin e oil next week. They itch like hell though and are still a little bit tender. Pooping is not my friend, I'm taking the meds to assist me. I've only went once over this past weekend. I will take the Miralx to aide my body if needed. I want to chew and now... I have to fight this head hunger like everyone else. I'm hungry sometimes, but I will drink a shake or one of my allowed items from the Full liquid diet. Still want a waffle and Turkey bacon or some cashews. I'm down exactly 10 pounds from surgery last week. Sleep is difficult, I'm uncomfortable most nights and I want to go sleep during regular sleeping hours, I can't. I need a little more rest than normal. I finally put on a bra today and full lounge wear. -
Silly plan
Krimsonbutterflies replied to RainbowBrite57's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wish I had the space for your plan. You can even set up a clothing exchange for your friends to swap/exchange as you reach new sizes. Super cute idea. -

How are you feeling? I'm going crazy waiting for next week, I want to chew. That cookie is a slider food, but you know that already. I'm not here to police anyone, just to share and provide encouragement with my peers. My advice is to get back on track, you've had a cheat/treat, remember your why, don't create any damage to your new stomach and you have support during this journey. It's hard, this is mental...I want a darn waffle, a piece of Turkey bacon and some darn cashews right now, lol! Instead I'm sipping on a vanilla Premier protein shake mixed with plain black tea, it is very tasty. Going down easy as well. Nice rainy day in Southern California -
Anyone Have March Surgery Date?😊
Krimsonbutterflies replied to Lily66's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
3/3 surgery as well and I'm craving chewing. I'm only craving certain food because I can't have it. I want a Turkey burger slider and some chips or fries. If I could eat unrestricted , I'd have some grilled fish, zucchini and salad - my norm. We are like children, we only want all of those cravings because we can't have any of the other stuff. I'm tired of broth, Premier, full liquids and not chewing... -
Business Dinner suggestions?
Krimsonbutterflies replied to ChubRub's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
you can always, eat very few bites. Keep the conversation on business and engaging. Order a soup if you must and an entree /appetizer, take the left overs home. You can always say, lifestyle changes if someone does ask and that you don't have a big appetite due to it being past the normal time you eat dinner. I'm only 8 days post op, a secret sleever and I will have to encounter this same challenge of eating with my peers as well. I consume such a tiny amount right now, I'm in awe. Interesting how ppl will shame you for eating too little, but not for what they feel is a comfortable amount of consumption for you when your overstuffing your face and 3000 pounds. -
i'm being submitted ❤️
Krimsonbutterflies replied to danielleleigh90's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You should be fine, get ready to transition into a totally new life. I started my journey Sept 2018 and just had surgery last week. I have had alot of changes in my life and I saw this through all of the pain (my son was murdered this past Jan. ) . I had to finish what he & I started together in his honor and to make sure I'm here for my grandson. I don't want to go into my stuff, I share that to say...Enjoy your journey and take control of your life, don't live in fear, life is extremely unpredictable and short...make your life the best life for you. Grow your locks, continue practicing yoga, be fearless, be positive and ride the waves of your life. Stay present in each moment, take slow deep breaths and keep a journal. This is life changing and you will reas what you wrote a year from now and realize that you are not the same person, but better. Don't stress the approval process time, you have so many other things to enjoy. Save money for your new everything, I promise you will be there transitioning on that surgery table in the blink of an eye. -
Gastric Sleeve 5days Post OP
Krimsonbutterflies replied to Roslyn Taylor's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You were able to walk while having Morphine? I refused the full dose of Morphine and was out like a light in a short time after it was administered to me. We are all very different, I couldn't move to the bathroom while taking " level 5 narcotics "! That's what I call anything stronger than Motrin or Naproxen. Lol -

Oh CammyC, sorry to hear. The lady in the room next to me moaned and groaned and cried very loudly in the room next to me. I felt terribly for her, I was in pain but she was in agony by the sound of it. Wish I knew about the charcoal tabs prior to surgery. Going to get some just to have in my supplies. -
Peanut Butter almost 2weeks Post OP
Krimsonbutterflies replied to BecomingAnna's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Thank you for the tip on how to slow down weight loss and maintenance. I will add it to my notes, I love Sunflower Butter from Trader Joe's. I know it isn't an option right now, but yummy. I'm going to try that powdered Peanut Butter when I reach that phase. I'm going to ask at my appointment next week. -

Suggestions for "must have items" in my hospital bag?
Krimsonbutterflies replied to GAjeepGirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I brought my flameless candle to relax my nerves...it was very soothing and the overnight team seemed to enjoy it as well. I brought an extension cord, which I needed. Comy clothes for the ride home and a zip up hoodie. Uses a pillow for the ride home. I had a few extra things, soothing aromatherapy lavender lotion for my hands. I have my personal comforts, we all travel different. -
FEEL SO MUCH BETTER NO LONGER DEHYDRATED
Krimsonbutterflies replied to BecomingAnna's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good to hear, dehydration is scary if you've been down that road. I know the feeling of advancing to thr next stage, this cream soup is devine. The Greek yogurt is good as well. I'm looking forward to the puree phase next week, omg!!! I want some refried beans, egg whites, tuna, chicken...anything to chew on, tired of sipping. -
