They told us we can choose but we haven’t decided yet. They said we will follow pretty close either way basically once one goes in they will start getting the other ready. But that’s the idea we will go through it all 100% together

I just want to make sure it's made clear that you have to take Vitamins after the sleeve as well. So don't let that be a factor.

Oh and wearing something besides 2X graphic tees every day. That's all I feel comfortable in now. And wearing a well fitting bra to make the ladies look better. Lol.

Sadly this same thing happened to me at the same hospital. I was also low BMI. The intake nurse did say something about my “Low” weight. I was annoyed but shrugged it off, BUT THEN....the Anesthesiologist came and and rudely asked me why I was doing the surgery with such a low BMI...I stuttered, lapband..complication..unfill...rapid weight regain etc. but yes NOT his business especially not 5 minutes before major surgery.
It gets worse. He then starts lecturing me and tells me the success is up here (touching my head!) and not here (touching my stomach!)
Now I was angry. But what to do? Ask for another anesthesiologist? Walk out?
Luckily? The surgeon came in moments later and we went off to surgery.

I made a formal complaint to the hospital.

10 months since surgery. The other day I realized that I can squat all the way down with butt near the floor, and get right back up, no using arms or anything!! I ran right to my 15 year old son’s room and asked him if he remembered 10-11 years ago when he fell down in a little wave at the beach, and I got down and caught him, but I couldn’t get back up so I just held him and couldn’t lift him out. I vowed then to try and get to where I could squat down and get back up. When I was fat I never could do that. Now I can! He remembered and was proud of me.

This week, my kid took off running across the park area near his after school care... and I ran after him and caught him. He was as delighted as I was. I don't think he had ever seen me run.

I have not the pillows, but a mask that only covers my nose. I find it very comfortable! Just try different things like everyone has said.

I've told my husband (obviously) and my sister. I will tell my Grandma when I get approved. That's all I'm planning to tell.

I know low-fat string cheese or nuts is a good option. If you want something sweet try a Quest cookie? They're not the best but definitely much better than a snickers bar. You still look amazing and you can get this under control. Do the reset and exercise and those pounds will melt off. Good luck!

Nooooo!!! Really stop for a minute and realize what you are saying!! The surgery is AWESOME! It's doing exactly what it's supposed to be doing--providing negative feedback impetus for changing your relationship/behavior with food. Aversion therapy. Give yourself a hug and thank your tool for making you miserable and giving you a teaching moment!!! Isn't it amazing that only 1 mini quesadilla from TacoHell gave you a horrible ride on the pain train? Congrats! 🍾

Omg. Sashimi (my fave is tuna) has been my reward meal for the last couple of months now.
Every 3-4 weeks, hubs takes me out to my fave sushi joint and I order the tuna and a bowl of miso Soup.
I can only sip about 2-4 ounces of the soup and eat 2-3 pieces of the tuna, but it is divine and hubs gets to finish my plate for me.

Hey guys! This is my first post here! I just wanted to share that I’ve been approved by my insurance for VSG!! I have Cigna insurance, and I only had to have one nutrition recommendation, one psych recommendation, a letter recommending me for surgery from a doctor who isn’t the surgeon (my PCP provided this), and a letter from the surgeon recommending me for surgery. The whole process took a couple of weeks because of my schedule, but I got the green light! I DID NOT complete a 3 month or 6 month (or any months, for that matter) physician supervised diet. The letter from my PCP was very general and just listed that they had been monitoring my weight and all of the things I had tried at home (Atkins, Weight Watchers, etc...). Next is getting with the scheduled to get a date!! Good luck to everyone!

apiane got a reaction from GreenTealael in Denied/Appealing Questions About Pre-Op Requirements
A year ago I had a surgery date, was ready to go, and insurance denied. Then I was 38 BMI so I needed a co-morbidity. I have sleep apnea. But when they submitted to insurance, they were told my SA was not "bad enough". You had to have 20 interruptions a night, and I had 15. My surgeon even appealed and did a call with United Healthcare herself. I was so devastated. A year later I was at 41.3 BMI and didn't need a co-mobidity. I've been going through the pre-op requirements, and I've lost weight and am down to 39.8 BMI. I was really concerned that I won't be approved, but then was just diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes (now I have a solid Co-Morbidity) so I'm feeling hopeful. I guess I'm telling you my story to say "Chin up". It will happen for you. But it is a good idea to call your insurance company.

I’m looking forward to ( and already have done )
1- wearing the clothing in my closet that I kept because I l promised myself I would fit in it again one day..
2- getting off insulin ( use to take 80 units a day , I’m down to only 10)
3- running a 5k and then maybe even a longer distance
    4- more energy for my new born son ( he’s 7 months old and I’m 48 )
5- Having my wife look at me the way she use to when I got out the shower ( she still did , but I was insecure of myself so I never accepted her compliments)

    Sounds weird but -
Running up my credit cards at the Mall on cute, fashionable clothes! (I won't think twice about the interest rate!) Buying the ones I look at now, knowing they will never make my current size in.
I'm not kidding, I have a shopping plan laid out! By summer 2020, I will be covered in cute shorts, maybe a crop top and a very stylish swimsuit!
I have a son who lives in Hawaii and I will be Hawaii bound for sure. To visit of course, but to catch some rays on my glistening toned body & trot around in a swimsuit, not shorts and a tee shirt. ALOHAAAAAAA!!!!!!!
