  1. A year ago I had a surgery date, was ready to go, and insurance denied. Then I was 38 BMI so I needed a co-morbidity. I have sleep apnea. But when they submitted to insurance, they were told my SA was not "bad enough". You had to have 20 interruptions a night, and I had 15. My surgeon even appealed and did a call with United Healthcare herself. I was so devastated. A year later I was at 41.3 BMI and didn't need a co-mobidity. I've been going through the pre-op requirements, and I've lost weight and am down to 39.8 BMI. I was really concerned that I won't be approved, but then was just diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes (now I have a solid Co-Morbidity) so I'm feeling hopeful. I guess I'm telling you my story to say "Chin up". It will happen for you. But it is a good idea to call your insurance company.
  2. Oh and wearing something besides 2X graphic tees every day. That's all I feel comfortable in now. And wearing a well fitting bra to make the ladies look better. Lol.
  3. Being able to get out of the tub without feeling like I'm going to fall and break bones each time. And being in the tub without my stomach sticking out of the water.
  4. In what intervals and how many post-op appointments do most people have? It's the one thing I don't know about my surgeon. Just wondering. Thanks!
  5. Thanks everyone that gives me a good idea 😃
  6. Hey ya'll. I just got numbers back from labs and they're not good. My Blood Glucose is 158 and my A1C is 8.5. So according to Mayo Clinic, I need two blood tests to confirm. But they're starting me on Metformin. I'm kinda stressing it. My Liver enzymes aren't good either but I already knew I had a Fatty Liver. I'm trying to look at the bright side, now my insurance will probably definitely approve my surgery, right? I have one more physician-assisted diet appointment and then everything is done. Any good thoughts?

    Diabetes

Thanks Frustr8. I'm sorry your doctor seems to want you to have the disease... that's weird. I'm just hoping everything goes fine with getting insurance approval. I was 41.3 BMI but I've lost 8 lbs and now I'm 39.8, I don't know what the requirements of having Diabetes is. Do you have to have been diagnosed for a certain amount of time?

I'm waiting too. I have one more physician-supervised diet visit then they should be able to submit to insurance. It's June 17th... it seems like forever from now. I'm just staring at my calendar. We'll make it :-)
