OK. This is going to sound Keto-ish but it's the truth. Your body only runs off of burning sugars or fat. When we were babies, our bodies would burn fat first for fuel. Fat-burning bodies are like candles and slow-burning so you stay satiatiated longer, sugar-burning bodies are like microwaves...instant (carbs are also sugar), which is why you crave more sugar (feel hungry) quicker. Your body adapts to either way...like an addict. Our natural state is to use fat as fuel first then sugars. But, if you give it a quick fix with sugars long enough you will have to retrain it to burn the fat first. That's why we forgot to eat when we were younger and could go long periods of time without food. As we aged and leaned into our processed sugar addictions, we were told that we could still eat sugar and be thin if we just eliminate fat from our diets. This is such a backwards way of thinking, especially now that you have re-set your body and only have a small pouch in which to nourish it. Train it to burn fats and eliminate sugars/carbs from your diet. You have a one ounce stomach to pack full of nutrient, Vitamin, mineral rich foods. Use it wisely. Good fats are healthy and necessary. Avocados, almond butter, butter, WHOLE cottage cheese, etc. Fat free is devoid of a lot of the beneficial stuff but still has processed stuff and sugar in it that your body feels freaked out and in starvation mode about. Your body will never have a chance to burn fat like that. Plus your skin will look dry and old. You need oils and natural foods. Don't be afraid of eating like a whole healthy person. You will stay satisfied and satiated longer and place your body in fat-burning mode (ketosis). Your skin and hair will look great and your body will respond better. No more fat-free.

I don't know if these are strange but:
    - getting on an airplane. I can fit in an airplane now but I want everyone around me to be comfortable.
    - so I can throw EVERY LAST ugly fat clothing I own away!. I have clothing down to size 16 and I can not wait until I can give it ALL to goodwill and start afresh!
    - to (eventually) have a boyfriend. Let's be honest, the only reason I don't is because I am fat. I do not blame men, I am not attracted to fat people either. It is a preference.
    - to have sex again without a tank top on.
    - to be able to clean myself better! It does make a difference.
    - to shop for clothes that I actually LIKE..
    - to wear a non-skirt bathing suit. maybe never a bikini but a nice one-piece or tankini would be nice!
    - to prove T every one of the people talking behind my back, that I in fact can and will succeed...
I am sure there are more!

Oh, I just thought of a new one.
Being able to wear high heels without killing my feet because I'm too heavy and think I look horrible.

Here is the list I made preop, my weight loss bucket list as it is:
    1. cross my legs - check! I love crossing my legs now and do it all the time!
    2. sneeze without peeing - condition has improved greatly
    3. rock climbing - haven't tried yet, kinda forgot it was on my list
    4. run a 5k - currently training and looking for a race
    5. be comfortable wearing shorts and not just capris in summer - check! I never used to wear shorts, but now I have 3 in my new size and only one pair of capris
    6. buy a swimsuit that doesn't have a skirt - check!
    7. waterski again - gotta get to the lake this summer to knock this one off
    7. Sex. More energy for it, more fun positions to try - DOUBLE CHECK!
Some bonus things: I like being able to pop myself up to sit on counters, I can sit on the floor without hurting my hips, I can buy a much bigger variety of shoes because I no longer need wide widths. Unfortunately I'll need to replace all my wide calf boots because they look ridiculous on me now.

Yes, I just had my VSG on the 29th April and my period came the day before. Let the nurse know so that they can give you underwear and pads. I was annoyed because it was 10 days early but it wasn't a big deal. It was funny when they asked when was my last period and my reply was NOW. lol.
    Good luck...

If they ask if and how you lost weight you could also say "Oh, I hope so! I have been trying to be healthier." Its really vague and may deflect the attention

I thought of another one today! My armpits used to be fleshy and easy to shave. Now they're all concave and I struggle to get all the hair with the razor!

People would no longer recognize me. It's led to a lot of awkward personal and professional interactions.

    IKR?!!!!
I didn't realize I would take SUCH joy on seeing a number on a scale. I NEVER once imagined I would ever see these numbers!
I didn't realize I would ever become a fashion slave. I LOVE clothes. I ADORE shopping at Goodwill for SIZE 8s!! (Am I yelling? Cuz it feels like I am!)
I never realized I would feel confident and "great" in my outfits!!!

I would always see commercials for pillows and stuff where people are trying to get comfortable shoving a pillow between their knees. I'd chuckle to myself and say "who needs pillows between their knees?! That's weird!" Now thin me can't sleep on my side. Why? Because my knees bang together and hurt! I'm totally one of those people now that need some weird fancy pillow to put between my legs!
I also want to carry an inflatable donut around because I lost all my padding and my tailbone hurts sitting on a lot of chairs. Time to start a squat challenge and build up some glutes!
What has surprised you about your new body?

    Well...
you could *start* blood pressure meds and never take them this never controlling your hypertension. Then *begin* the supervised diet but make no effort to lose, only maintain to so you don't fall out of the BMI range...
Or walk the straight and narrow.
    Whatever you choose...
