What part of Arkansas are f you don't mind my asking? O am in Bartlett, a suburb of MemphisGirl I live in Arkansas so I get you on the heat and humidity. Unfortunately I'm going to have to go walk at the park in this God awful weather because if i put a treadmill in my house, my kids would use it as their own personal toy. I hate the heat and humidity soooooo much

Yay me!! Just got my new treadmill today. I live in Tennessee where the heat and humidity are terrible, and I can't imagine trying to walk outside after surgery without passing out. What do all you June sleevers do for exercise?

I sleep on my right side so this is a concern for me as well. Good luck!

Welcome!Hey! I’m Kearston. I’m 33, no kids yet! Single and awkwardly living with my ex lol. I have mild sleep apnea and I hate using my cpap. I’m currently at 300lbs and I have PCOS so I struggle to lose even 5lbs. My surgery is scheduled for June 28th and I’m super excited. More for the 5 week break from work I’m taking lol but the surgery is good too.

My husband still doesn't support my decision, and my surgery is in 8 days! I just keep telling myself I'm not doing this for him, I'm doing this for me. Hopefully at some point he'll be able to stand beside me and be proud of who I've become and how far along I made it. If not, that's his problem - not mine. I agree it would be much easier if he supported me though. Good luck to you!I have only told my Daughter and Mom. My Mom is worried to death. She is like why you want to be skinny. That's not what I am looking for. I want to be healthy and to feel comfortable in my skin. My husband would have a cow. Not sure how I am going to do this when surgery time comes. It's hard to tell many people because they want to say do this diet or that. I have done them all that's for sure. They say you've always been example in losing weight before, I wish they would think of the times I've gain it back within months. I know even we sleeve you can gain it back I am hoping by the time I can eat more that I will have enough knowledge and the big one, the mental stability. I am afraid to have surgery but is just something I must do for me. It would just be nice if others understood and could give me support.

I'm thinking you will be more prepared than me for the liquid phase after surgery though. HonestlyOhcinders,
Rub it in why don't you.....🤣
You only have to do a one day liquid diet? Sigh..............
My clear liquid diet will be also on June 2. My Protein liquid diet will be the entire week before.
Well to look on the bright side, I will be able to enjoy the Memorial Weekend and cookout.
But when Monday hits.................It's no more Purpledva but Premier Protein shake Diva

Yep!! June 3rd ends life as I know it. Which is not a bad thing, I do realize that. But it's still freaking me out nonetheless. I am most worried about the pain after the surgery and how quickly I'm going to feel like going back to work. Hopefully I will be going back to work the next week, but from reading everyone else's posts it's a wait-and-see, thing. my anxiety levels are extremely high at night when I'm laying there trying to go to sleep and my mind is racing. So you are not alone...So is anyone else freaking out? Each day that gets closer and closer I get more and more terrified. I know this is what I want but my mind is trying to psych me out.

I heave read many times on here ~~ if you start to fail, go back to the basics ~~ start with the liquid diet again to help you get back on track. Good luck!

I agree with the other two ladies -- in addition, I am taking Biotin since I heard about Hair loss on down the road (my surgery is June 3rd). I wanted to be as prepared for that hair loss as possible! My multi Vitamin, calcium citrate, and biotin are in Gummy form, and my B-12 is sublingual liquid, which doesn't taste bad at all

You guys rock too!! My husband would NEVER consider doing this, so I personally think you are a badass

Maybe because I just realized I am 12 days(almost 11) away and that eating is literally about to stop. 🤣 I guess it’s just getting really real now and I’ve been talking about this so long I feel like maybe a part of me thought I would never get here. Is anyone else panicking a little here in the 11th hour? I’m afraid I’m going to break the rules, hurt myself or worst of all, not lose weight.
My VSG is scheduled June 3rd, and I am also in "full panic" mode.. But I am taking the advice of many others... just BREATHE... We got this!

Pre surgery testing for me was ultrasound of liver, abdomen, etc., EKG, and labwork. That was it! My surgery date is June 3rd

I am having the sleeve on June 3rd (right round the corner). I am 55 years old, 5'5", and my highest weight was 292. I currently weigh 275, so we are about the same. I honestly will tell you I am feeling fear at this point, with only days left of "life as I know it". I can also honestly tell you that I do NOT fear being thinner, healthier, and more in command of what I put into my body for nourishment. The honesty from me continues here ~~ I do NOT like wearing a size 24 pants, or a 2 XL shirt, or buying clothes that are not fashionable, and cost more. I do NOT like feeling like the "fat girl" in any room I walk in, although I have a very outgoing personality. I do NOT like feeling unattractive and I do believe first impressions count in this world we live in. So, in order to do this, I am going to conquer those fears, and embrace the "new me". I am also hypothyroid, and have been through menopause, and my primary care doctor has told me that I need to lose over 100 lbs., and this is my best option. He said only 2% of the population is able to lose that kind of weight on their own, and I know I am not in that 2%. So I am biting the bullet!! Feel free to follow my progress on here if you like ~~ and good luck to you

9 hours ago, jenn75 said:Honey, you look FABULOUS!! This is a mind game ~~ although I haven't had my sleeve yet (its scheduled for June 3, 2019) I already know I am not expecting "certain attributes" for my body, I just simply want to wear clothes better, feel healthy and more in shape, and just generally not let food rule my life... I know I will always have a big butt (it runs in my family), small breasts (which will become smaller), and I am not expecting to wear a bikini, or be the best looking girl in the room ~~ and that's OK with me! Learning to be proud of yourself and the way you look is not easy, but you will get there!

My doctor is only requiring a wind a liquid diet before surgery. Which I guess is lucky anyway, because I know I'll have to do the liquids for two weeks afterward which I'm sure will be plenty! Good luck to everyoneWelcome to our dysfunctional and beautiful family!!! This place has helped me so much so far. It really helps knowing there are more people out there dealing with the same thing and knowing we are here to help each other. Your surgery is just a little over a month away. I bet you're so excited!!! What kind of preop diet do you have to do? Mine is 2 weeks of liquid only. Yuck lol

I'm also scheduled June 3rd for a gastric sleeve. I'm 55 years old and my present weight is 275I'm scheduled for June 3. My highest weight was 235 and I'm around 224 right now. I'm 5'3 and 59 years old, so because of my age, I am anticipating a slow and hopefully steady weight loss.
This site has been a godsend because I have learned so much from the posters. Thank you all for your knowledge and tips.

Hey! I'm having surgery June 3rd also, but I'm having the gastric sleeve. I'm new to this for him and I don't really know how to follow this post or follow people. Can someone help?Hi! Thanks for starting this!
I have a surgery date of June 3rd for RNY. I am 48, a mom to two great boys and have been married to my high school sweetheart for 28 years. I am an elementary education teacher and a special education specialist, though I have taken time off while the kids are/were in school.
I decided to do this because I have sleep apnea, high BP and my family is strongly diabetic. At 5'8 and 275 pounds it was time to get real, without some serious changes this was not going anywhere good.
Really looking forward to hearing from everyone as we move forward!

SOS...Laryngopharyngeal Reflux...SOS
in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Posted
I just found this thread today and wanted to resurrect it if possible to see if anyone has ever resolved this issue. I have reflux bad at night and wake every morning with acid irritating my throat. Yesterday I started losing my voice so naturally I thought I was getting sick. Only symptom I have is throat hurts like crazy. Today, I can't talk at all. Full laryngitis has set in. I have no other symptoms though so I dont think this a cold or sinus infection. I see my surgeon on Thursday for my 6 month post sleeve follow up, but I don't think hes going to offer much help because hes always a jerk (true). I already take protonix daily along with tums chewable as needed. I know most people resolve the reflux issue by conversion to bypass, but that's not an option for me as my insurance doesn't include bariatric coverage so I self paid. I don't have another $15 K for another surgery ☹
