  1. Yesterday marked 1 month (4 weeks and 4 days) post-op. I had a very small piece of tri-tip (similar to brisket, but better IMO) and it was absolutely glorious.
  2. I am finishing up my fourth week post-op. I have been cheating just a little, eating chicken noodle soup or vegetable beef soup for about a week. Last night I made sloppy joes for the kids for dinner and I was able to eat about 1/2 cup of the meat without a bun with no issues and it was awesome. Maybe you could try some mild Indian food?

I am also struggling with protein but the shakes help. I am finishing my fourth week post-op, so I have been doing some experimenting to see what I can handle. Last night I was able to eat 1/2 cup of sloppy joe mix (no bun) with no adverse affect. Try protein shakes if you’re not already.

I went from 313 to 287 between 5/9/19 (surgery date) and 5/15/19. In the second week I have only lost 2 pounds, but my pants are loose. I did some Googling and it seems that the weight loss can be sporadic at times.
  5. I tried some vegetable beef soup with a little bit of extra beef broth added last night and had no affects. 🤞🏼

Has anyone else experienced a change in their voice post surgery? I also had a hiatal hernia repair (stomach pushing into diaphragm), but the day after surgery my voice was a little raspy and quiet like a cold, and a week later it is still the same.
  7. I have been craving Indian food all day, but I haven’t usually been real high on it.
  8. Doctor told me I could try some split pea soup on Friday, I cheated and brought some to work for lunch today. Bad thing: it has small chunks of ham in it 😬 I’ve taken a few bites and my stomach has not yet revolted, I’m just making sure to eat slow and chew a lot.
  9. I had my first follow-up yesterday (5/15/19) from a sleeve procedure on 5/9/19. I was on clear liquids for the first week, but was cleared to move to regular liquids for a week on Saturday (518/19). Doc won’t authorize eggs until two weeks after surgery at the earliest and then suggested I leave them a bit runny. I’m anxious and nervous to try eggs, and mashed potatoes lol.

Is there a lot of medicine youll take when you get back home? And will you have to purchase medicine from them if you run out? I was sent home with Omeprazole (GERD meds), Oxycodone for moderate to severe pain (I have taken 2 in a week and tbh they were as much due to Migraines as it was surgery pain), Prochlorperazine (anti-nausea), and told to avoid Ibuprofen, Aleve, Motrin, Advil, etc but that Tylenol in reasonable doses and intervals would be okay. Best way to get rid of the gas is to walk. Walk to the mailbox, walk around the house, etc. I had a challenge after surgery staying awake to keep my Fluid intake up (in the hospital). The next day I had to make more of an effort but I was able to and was discharged about 3 PM from a 10:30 procedure the day before.
  11. I am dying to chew something right now, one week post op 😁

For me it wasn’t ACTUALLY painful per se, but it felt like a lot of pressure in my abdomen, right behind my lower sternum. Like I really needed to burp super hard but just couldn’t get it out. It’s a discomfort combination like when you’ve eaten way too much crossed with really needing to burp.

Ugh! The gas is the WORST.

I had mine done 5/9/19. Stood 6’ 2” tall with a clothed weight of 315 pounds and a BMI if 39.5 the day of surgery. I have my first post-op appointment tomorrow (5/15/19). Obviously I’m the same height, but my clothed weight today (5/14/19) is 291 pounds. So far it has been clear liquids: beef or chicken broth, sugar-free popsicles and jell-o, 50-50 diluted Gatorade, etc but I have to admit: I want to eat some solid food!
  15. I just had a sleeve gastrectomy on 5/9/19 and will have my first post-op appointment tomorrow (5/15/19). So far I have been on clear liquid diet of beef and chicken broth and sugar-free popsicles and jell-o cups. I cant even imagine what I will eat first! Tbh, I’m kind of scared. Does one bite really fill you up? I was 6’ 2” 315 pounds at surgery, with a BMI of 39.5, now I am 6’ 2” 290 pounds.
