LeaG got a reaction from GreenTealael in Help!!!!
I am having the same problem! Softer foods such as eggs, soft cheese, cream of wheat is all good and dandy. However, eating something heavier say bacon, beef, pork, or even some deli meats is like a big punch to my gut and makes me feel.....ugh!

I feel fine at first, but then i just start to feel bad like if i ate too fast or too much. I feel like i am taking my time (i am a slow eater naturally) but sometimes, i feel like taking a sip of something to "help certain foods along" or else it feels dry and i feel like i might choke!
I'll take the tiniest sip and it will still hurt me regardless. I don't want to jeopardize me stretching my pouch, and i get frustrated thinking about it too.

My biggest thing so far, is that i carry A 64 OZ. VACUUM SEALED THERMOS STAINLESS STEEL TYPE water bottle so i have ice cold Water with me whenever i go.

I am still finding that when i feel "hungry" i might actually be "thirsty" and vice versa.

I am 2 months post op and have had a slow down in my weight loss and i feel like i should have lost more.

We are surgery twins and I am stalled too. Very frustrating. I am on 800 calories and doing everything right too. I’m just trying to focus on the long-term because I know my tool will work in the long run. Hang in there and PM me anytime.

I would take feeling full anytime over feeling Ready to Puke, today there are Storm Clouds in my heart and I wonder if it will turn worse rapidly. Tried some Bran Buds this am, trying to add Fiber in the hopes I will become more regular with #2. NOW WHAT?

I have trouble with the Protein Shakes as well. I bought the unflavored Protein isolate (I like the Isopure unflavored whey protein isolate) from Amazon. For 1 scoop, you get 25 g protein. You can add it to anything. Yogurt, Soup, smoothie, cottage cheese... I sometimes make my own shake with 1 scoop protein, 8 Oz either skim, coconut, or almond milk, a little vanilla extract, a tsp cocoa, sweetener, and a couple ice cubes... Have to wait a few minutes for the foam to settle it, but the Protein Powder has no flavor or aftertaste. That is my go to rescue to get the protein in when I'm struggling.

On May 18 it will be a month since my surgery. I never had a problem with liquids other than I never really felt full. I still however, have a problem getting the Protein Shakes down. To me they are way to sweet. Even with that I am down about 33lbs from my post surgery weigh in, I am also hoping that I get the go ahead for more solid/semi solod foods. I have been mashing down chicken and Turkey meatballs for the last week to try and get more Protein in...I tried to puree them but I couldnt get past the texture so I just make sure to mash them as good as possible and then chew each bite at least 20-30 times. I also bought baby food for some different tastes. Mostly the fruit but some veges like carrots, sweet potatoes and squash. You got this, remember everyone is different!

When you have the feeling of gas. WALK IT OFF. Walking will help move the gas out easier.

I was 375 when I started my weight loss journey. I was able to drop down to 341 and had my VSG 04.30.19.
I am now teetering 321-324 now.
As for clothes, I have dropped two shirt sizes. I was a 5xl and now fit 3xl.
DO NOT BUY NEW CLOTHES. GO THRIFT SHOPPING FOR CLOTHES.

I get it. I am only 3 weeks out and i am fighting just trying to get in something into my diet. I felt totally lost with the liquid diet, but i am hoping with the phase 2, i will be better. Good luck! Try Premier Protein and PB Fit powder for added Protein. Did they say anything about what you can and cant have?

For me. I work with dogs and animals all day on my feet and active. Bending and stooping and going up ladders as well. I am taking at least 6 weeks off. Last thing i want is a hernia or end up doing something that i could have prevented

My wife is really awesome. She's been very involved in everything and it means a ton. My Mom is one of those people who thinks they know better than the doctor. The only reason I even got to where I am is because my doctor, whom I had been working on weight issues for years, decided this might be the best way to go. We had tried diets and exercise, and it just never really took. I lose a few pounds and then just get stuck. And to say this is an easy way out is a joke. I know the amount of work it's going to take, and I'm prepared for it. It's going to be hard, but I know how I am, and I can do this. I just gotta keep calm until then.

I took 5 weeks. I would highly recommend that wls patients take as much time as they can to work on their health, including mental health.

My surgeon has been great. He gave me his phone number and email and has been available to answer any questions I've had. Everyone at the office has been great. Even the receptionists. So, I feel like I made a good choice. My wife is super supportive. She made me a book with recipes and she's even going to follow a similar diet. My parents think I'm being stupid...so I just don't mention it to them. But, I feel like I have the support I need. I've read about all the risks, and even though I know the chances are slim, I still worry. But I get anxious going to my yearly physical...so yeah. I think I'll be ok. I just need to get myself relaxed.
I know it's going to be hard after. I used to be addicted to other things, and I've been able to give them up...but food is different. You need food to live and it's readily available. I think my biggest issue has always been that feeling of hunger. Hopefully that won't be as much of an issue.
Oh, and I'm glad to know pb fit can be used. We actually buy it and eat it regularly. Thanks for the words. It's good to know I'm not alone in the anxiety game.

Ok, first off, let me just say...RELAX SWEETHEART! BREATHE! SMILE!

I myself have OCD, Severe Anxiety, PTSD, and chronic depression.
I know exactly what you are talking about and more. I went through the swing of emotion and was super excited and then super scared, nervous, wanted to throw up and run away and call it all off, but i had the love and support of my family and friends, and had to keep telling myself how much better i will feel.

This is a big step. It is also a new you and a new life. You will have these thoughts and feelings, but it is because you feel unsure of yourself or the "what ifs"

All i can offer you is this piece of advice as someone who has been through this.

    1. Make sure YOU are comfortable with your surgeon. Do they support you, Do they ask you questions, are they treating you with respect and not an assembly line patient "cut you open stitch you up" make sure they have EVERYTHING YOU NEED!

    2. ASK QUESTIONS! If there is an emergency during the procedure, what are the chances are bleeding, are you comfortable with bloodless surgery (if you do not take blood transfusions)

    3. Are there chances of it being an incomplete surgery? Bypass in particular

Write down your questions for your surgeon and get one on one. If the surgeon cant answer ANY of these simple questions, then they don't have your best interest in mind. I hope this helps you.

Remember: BREATHE AND RELAX. THIS IS ALL POSITIVE. A NEW YOU AND A FRESH START (if you're mentally ready) The surgery isn't the hard part. Not at all. It is the AFTER that is the hardest. Changing the way you think about food and your relationship with it will be the most hardest thing you will ever experience, but you will only find that out for yourself when you finally experience it firsthand. Some people, it is easier than others. For me, it was hard. I didn't realize how badly i missed food until after surgery. I know it won't be that long before i have solid food again, but the days just run together and seem so long. Getting a hobby and keeping your mind active is the best way to get your mind off things.

Also, i strongly suggest in getting a good Protein Powder for shakes. I recommend Premier Protein powder that has the most Protein available with very little sugar. Also, PB Fit powder (peanut butter protein powder) for added protein. If you mix the chocolate protein powder with the Peanut Butter powder, it tastes similar to a russel stovers sugar free peanut butter cup in liquid form. Yummage! Anyhow. Hope this helps. TAKE CARE!!!!!

Hey @Ellf I had the gastric sleeve done on the 16th of April. Since then I’ve done the liquid diet and then the filler liquid diet so Protein Shake etc and now I’ve started softs foods only from this Tuesday. I really do hope I lose it because, I am so worried I’ll never lose weight and the surgery hasn’t worked for me.
