    I agree with everything Arabesque said. Get on top of this before it gets out of control. Start tracking your food again if you've stopped doing that. I still track mine at over six years out because I know from my past history that once I stop monitoring myself fairly regularly, things can spin out of control quickly. It's much easier to lose five or ten or even twenty pounds than 50. And by the way - regaining is unfortunately VERY common. We stop paying as close attention - we're not as vigilante as we were the first year out of surgery - diet fatigue sets in - bad habits start to creep back in. A 10% regain (10-20 lbs) from our lowest weight is extremely common. I knew that going in and factored it in to my goal. My struggle now (and probably for the rest of my life) is keeping it from going higher than that.

    It’s a daily battle isn’t it. Sigh!
    I’d go back to tracking & logging what you’re eating. It’s so easy to let things slip into our diet or to increase portion size. We become less vigilant. A treat becomes a regular thing…. There may be things you’ve been eating you haven’t considered for their calorie, carbs, sugar or fat content.

    Plus the last 12/18months hasn’t been easy from the perspective of our emotional health either which brings it own set of challenges.
    I do random checks of my diet, & I think I always will, to try to keep on top of calorie & portion creep. I’m also the person peering myopically at the nutrition panels (why is the font always so tiny) of products at the supermarket.

    Your head is messing with you! That will go away, once you get the hang of this and your new life and being healthy You will never second guess yourself!
    Option one: Stay the way you were obese, and you will die and along the way deal with disease and be miserable
    Option two: Get the surgery, change my life, live longer, less chance of disease. and be Happy!
    You can always go back to option one, but i think you should choose two.
    Live the dream enjoy the journey! Be patient it is a journey not a sprint

    Talk to your dietitian. You may need to start eating a bit more calorie-wise to maintain rather than lose.

    I looked pretty scrawny when I got to my lowest weight, but things kind of re-distribute after awhile and most people eventually look way better. Like you, my low weight was in a normal BMI range for me, though.
    as for trying to gain weight, don't forget that most of us gain 10-20 lbs during year 2 or 3 (some, unfortunately, gain more than that - some WAY more). I've put on 24 lbs since I hit my lowest weight, which I'm sick about and trying to re-lose. I don't want to be at my thinnest again as it was too light for me, but I would LOVE to lose 10-15 lbs, and it's a real bear. I personally wouldn't try to gain weight because you're likely to do so on your own without much effort once you're in year 2 or 3. In the mean time, things will shift around and you'll likely look much better in about six months, even at your current weight.
