I too face the dreaded take a small taste and if no unpleasant reaction then it’s ok to have a little more. My horrible habit is sucking the seasoning off chips or Doritos the spitting out the soggy chips. It’s disgusting. I also discovered skinny lattes at Starbucks. Big mistake! They are not so skinny. I had to finally just stop altogether as I can’t handle it. I’ve gone back to what I did when I first reached my goal weight. Strict control, tracking and measuring. I can’t let myself go back to where I started. WLS was a gift that I will never receive again.

I gave up ALL sugar in any form prior to surgery. I had already given up wheat years ago, but once the sugar was gone, guess what? My joints never hurt again. Sugar is the most inflammatory food on the planet (with wheat next in line). Once you are off sugar, you will lose your craving for it, but just one little bite can cause the cravings to come back instantly. This all has to do with brain chemistry. Do you know that sugar activates the same brain receptors as cocaine? I know everyone must make their own choices about what they will eat, but I would encourage you not to sabotage your success by a few seconds of sweetness. fruit is plenty sweet for me now. Some Greek yoghurt with fruit is so delicious - and guilt free!

My heaviest was 378. I was 319.8 the day of surgery, 4/15/19, and now I’m at 300 even. I often look for other women who have the same stats as me to see what their experience is because I do feel like it’s different for the heavier girls like me. I know there are other factors that play a part like age and hormonal things. But for the most part, I feel good about my progress and look forward to continue working toward my goal weight of 185.

I'm so happy to have read this post. Thank you so much for inspiring and motivating those of us who don't understand what's going on their bodies all the time. I have stalled for a little over two months, and finally am losing again. I have just made a huge milestone, 100lbs lost! But to embrace the stall...YES!!
It makes perfect sense, my body is readjusting to allow for the changes occurring now. I'm celebrating ALL the successes that I'm making, and focusing on taking every day one at a time. Thanks again, SurferGirl!!

Thank you all so much! I had sleeve surgery on 4/22/19. Total lost (before and after surgery) is 26 lbs. I have "stalled out" the past few days and started to worry that maybe I am doing something wrong. I came here and spent time reading all of your posts and feel so much better. I am absolutely feeling like my clothes continue to get looser every day, despite what the scale says. (I put on a hoodie today that used to be too tight and it hung on me. Also, the shoulders of my suit jackets are now too loose.) I will embrace the stall and understand it for what it is, my body readjusting to all of this and doing the work to get smaller. You guys rock and are such an inspiration to someone new to all of this!

Thank you very much for your reply. I think your insight about the calorie intake may help. I have emailed my nutritionist to see if I can add more Protein per day. Add increase my calories to 800. Also, I’m gonna kick that scale to the curb and walk more. BEST ADVICE! Thank you.

Well I know during the two days before surgery clear liquid diet my aunt on the first day she ate some Mole and a chicken foot. And after she finished it she told our family friend to quickly run to the store and by her the liquid laxative. So that she can EMPTY her stomach bruh 😂. She also drank a Premier Protein vanilla drink on Sunday when surgery was on Monday 4/8/19 . She was like look Imah put mad Water now it looks more clear 🤦‍♀️😅😂 well all I can say was that she had the surgery done. I was worried she wasn’t going to get it, since she also chewed on some corn bread and then spit it out before being able to swallow it. She had me stressed for her during this two week semi liquid diet before surgery. Especially because she had to pay out of pocket

Ok, this may be hilarious and I apparently didn't learn my lesson the first time I did this several years ago, BUT.....
I stocked up on a bunch of "sugar free" hard candies and ate about 8 pieces in one sitting. I was like, "No biggie, it's less than 100 calories, right?". That's when the rumbling started, very low in the guts. They seemed to echo like a humpback whale in heat, starting very softly, but constant, ever increasing until they were able to be heard from across the room.
The look that my wife and kids gave me was not nearly as priceless as the look I gave them as I started the 10 yard dash to the bathroom. I won't go into the rest, but I recall a scene from Dumb and Dumber when Lloyd got back at Harry for stealing his date by dumping Turbolax 3000 in his coffee.... It was just as violent.
There's no dignity coming out of the bathroom afterwards, I tell you, but I should have remembered what sugar alcohols do to me when I over-indulge... That is a lesson I am not going to forget again, I hope....OMG 💩💩💩

Overall i eat really really well, but i definitely had some caramel m&m’s a few days ago because i was craving chocolate and it was amazeballs.

I’ll say this though so it’s clear. Live your life and don’t apologize or feel guilty about it. But at the same time cheats are for occasions, and they tend to work out better for people in the maintenance phase vs still losing phase. If you want to cheat do it, but own it and be accountable so you dont fall off the wagon. It’s easy to do. It’s your journey, have fun with it.

Here is the list I made preop, my weight loss bucket list as it is:
    1. cross my legs - check! I love crossing my legs now and do it all the time!
    2. sneeze without peeing - condition has improved greatly
    3. rock climbing - haven't tried yet, kinda forgot it was on my list
    4. run a 5k - currently training and looking for a race
    5. be comfortable wearing shorts and not just capris in summer - check! I never used to wear shorts, but now I have 3 in my new size and only one pair of capris
    6. buy a swimsuit that doesn't have a skirt - check!
    7. waterski again - gotta get to the lake this summer to knock this one off
    7. Sex. More energy for it, more fun positions to try - DOUBLE CHECK!
Some bonus things: I like being able to pop myself up to sit on counters, I can sit on the floor without hurting my hips, I can buy a much bigger variety of shoes because I no longer need wide widths. Unfortunately I'll need to replace all my wide calf boots because they look ridiculous on me now.
