Thank you, cpgirl! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ’™ I was never one to take full-body pictures, so I really only have this picture (from around surgery time) that my friend took of me 1 week before I started my Pre-Op Diet. I was 302 lbs at the time. I am currently 231.5 lbs ๐Ÿค—

  3. I am currently 2 & 1/2 Months Post-Op (had surgery on 5/13/19). I am an Alumness Consultant to the Technology Student Association at my former high school, so I wore this today while volunteering at their Open House. I feel great! ๐Ÿ˜Š

So sorry that happened to you Ruby. Is there a way we can avoid vomiting ? I have a real bad fear of it . It hasnโ€™t happened to me for 50 years! So Iโ€™m really really worried about it . Was anyone else like this? or is it just me ? Iโ€™m having a by pass on 12th August .

Luckily, I hadnโ€™t experienced any vomiting before this morning (Iโ€™ve also been feeling perfectly fine after the experience; I even went for a run). It appears that you have a tough stomach since you havenโ€™t thrown up in more than 50 years, so I think that you should be fine! However, there will be some foods your stomach just canโ€™t tolerate anymore. Itโ€™s too bad that there is no strict list of foods that we should know to stay away from, as all of our bodies react differently, so we all have to learn the hard way โ˜น๏ธ Good luck on your surgery though! ๐Ÿ˜Š

could be. I discovered recently I can no longer eat Reuben sandwiches (I used to LOVE them but had not had one since I had surgery four years ago). I had half of it and thought I was going to DIE. I vomited a couple of times afterward. Not sure if it was the fat in it (corned beef...cheese...Russian dressing) or if it was the sauerkraut (acidic). I'm pretty sure it was the sauerkraut, though...

The surgery forces us to make changes, even if we still want to hold on to some things ๐Ÿ˜ญ I love pickles!

  6. Hello Everyone!

So I am currently 2 Months and a Half Post-Op from my Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy (5/13/19). So far, I have had a great recovery and have had no problems getting food down. Today though, I threw up for the first time in this whole entire journey. I ate a Dill Pickle wrapped in Ham and cheese. Is it normal for my first vomit experience to have come this late into my journey? Could it have been the acid in the vinegar from the pickle? What do you all think?

  7. Hello Everyone!

I wanted to seek out some advice from you all, as I am worrying about my weight stall/gain. I am currently 10 Weeks Post-Op (2 Months) and I have been exercising (Swimming and Running) everyday for at least 2 hours since I was 3 Weeks Post-Op. I am very responsible with my diet and I carefully watch my portions. 3 days ago I was 251.0 lbs and now Iโ€™m back to being 253.8 lbs. Why am I at this weight stall/gain? Am I doing something wrong? I personally feel a lot stronger and I have noticed muscle gain in my arms and legs, but could muscle really make me stall that much? I also had a lot of nerve pain near my biceps last night, could that be due to muscle gain? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you! โฃ๏ธ

  8. I got this Cauliflower Crusted pizza recipe from YouTube and decided to make it; it was delicious! May I add, this is my first time cooking something that isnโ€™t Soup or mac nโ€™ cheese. I decided to cut the portions in half since Iโ€™m sleeved. This Cauliflower Pizza is super simple and delicious!

    Ingredients:

    - Cheese Grater
    - 1 Cup of Grated Cauliflower
    - 1/2 Egg
    - 1/2 Cup Parmesean
    - Pizza Sauce
    - Mozzarella
    - Spinach
    - 4 Sliced Cherry Tomatoes

My Bariatric Surgery Book (written/given to me by my surgeon and nutritionist) says that I can eat that one week after my surgery. I had my VSG Surgery on 5/13/19 and have been been eating all of those veggies and fruits since 5/20/19. Everything has gone smoothly for me so far. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

that is kind of scary to me, given the ease with which the sleeve can be damaged during healing.

All of the veggies I have eaten are cooked until theyโ€™re soft, so everything has been perfectly fine. My program is okay with it and my body has gladly welcomed all of the food as well. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Omg really?!?!? 1 week?!?! I'm still on liquids &3 weeks later pureed foods so still not solids. I thought it was cause your stomach couldn't handle it??? How did your pouch respond?

My stomach has been perfectly fine! I feel great ๐Ÿ˜Š (Just as a side note, I had VSG)

So at about what point are we able to eat things like cucumbers, tomatoes, or raw zucchini? Of course with the understanding that everyone's tolerance is different.

  • I am 19 (was 18 during surgery) and I understand what you mean; pay no mind to it, though. No one should be giving their opinions to your life weight loss decisions, especially if theyโ€™ve never cared enough to help you in your past weight loss attempts. You do you! I feel great after my weight loss surgery (Iโ€™m 2 Weeks Post-Op / Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy) and if youโ€™re serious about getting surgery, you will too! ๐Ÿ’œ

Just my two cents on a couple of your questions...

Condiments like steak sauce or ketchup can be loaded with sugar, so be careful. I would suggest maybe trying mustard instead?

Pasta alternatives... my go to is zucchini noodles. Love love love them. Good in hot and cold recipes.

Thank you so much for the responses! I will be sure to try out the Zucchini Noodles, I just have to get some recipes online. ๐Ÿ˜Š

  • Hello Everyone!

I am currently 2 Weeks Post-Op and I was wondering if any of you could help me with some lingering nutritional questions that I have.

Q1: I love to put one tablespoon of steak sauce on my chicken when I eat, it keeps me from getting bored. Do any of you eat steak sauce regularly; how has that gone for you? If you eat chicken with other sauces, let me know! (Hot Sauces are welcomed ๐Ÿ”ฅ)

Q2: Do you all recommend the Body Armor drink? Or should I stay away from it? I used to drink them and bought one again, as it has a lot of Vitamins and tastes good. What do you all think?

Q3: Do any of you still eat Pasta after surgery? I love pasta, but I know itโ€™s an empty carb. If you donโ€™t eat pasta, what substitutes do you all recommend?

Feel free to answer any of the questions. Also, if any of you have some healthy recipes that you eat, let me know! Thank you! โค๏ธ
