    June 2019 Surgery Siblings!

Greetings Everyone in the Funky JuneBunch, It has been a while. I've been wanting to give you all an update but life happens. My mom has been in and out of the hospital for the last 2 months. We thought we were going to lose her. But God is good. And she is still with us. I wanted to pop in and give an update on my status. Well for starters, as I weighed myself this morning, I am at 168lbs. I haven't seen the Onederlands since........It's been a minute. Let's just say 20+ years. To keep up the momentum, I walk on an average of 3-8 miles a day. As far as diet, I have slowly went back to all the foods I have eaten before surgery. However, I cannot eat much at a time. Which is a good thing. I still have difficulties with getting in my required water intake. For some strange reason I just can't get water down like I was able to before the surgery. But I am not complaining. The small things are so much better than the idea of being grotesquely overweight. I now, go up and down stairs with no problem or slightness of breath. And I have picked up a new addiction........wait for it.......Shopping. I've had to rethink my size and do a mental makeover. My walking buddy told me that I have to give up my "Plus size" thinking because I am no longer plus size. I've had to retool and buy a whole new wardrobe. I am no longer a size 22. But I am more like a size 12 and 14. No more 2X and 3X. Now it's more like Medium and maybe an occasional Large. And I am not even at the 6 months marker. My six months will be on December 3rd. is June 1st….. I will include a few photos to help illustrate my progress. Keeping The Faith, the Purpledva Below is a before/after photo The picture on the left was October 2018 and the right is October 2019 What difference a year makes. If I can do it, then you all can too.

    June 2019 Surgery Siblings!

Happy Saturday Everyone, Day 3 of being stuck inside. I have kept the time by watching some of the movies I recorded during the week. Like the Misfits, Curse of Frankenstein and Cat on A Hot Tin Roof. Yup, the Purpledva is into Classic Hollywood. The Golden Age of Hollywood had its problems but they had style and class too. I must be honest clear liquids are becoming quite old, quickly. And the need to have something more substantial is becoming rampant. I equate it to being a vampire during the series of True Blood. The hunger is fierce and will sometimes not make you such a nice person. I checked my blood sugar levels earlier today and they had dropped to 65 which is not the greatest. So, I opted for some fruit juice and now my readings are back to normal. I am starting ask myself did I make the right decision by opting to have surgery. I mean, I am a social creature and the weather is so nice outside, etc. But I have to keep reminding myself that Rome was not built in a day. So I will gradually look to soup to ease my fears/hungers. I haven’t been out walking, etc. Because I wanted to give myself time to really heal. So over the next week, I will be still taking it easy and gradually incorporating a walk or two in the coming week. The Struggle is Fierce but the rewards are so worth it!!!

Happy Friday Everyone, Day 2 of being at home. I am starting to feel my usual self.☺️ I don't have much of an appetite. So I am just drinking mostly water and tea and having an occasional s/f popsicle. The tenderness in my abdomen area is slowly going away. I weighed myself this morning ( I know I wasn’t going to do this until next week😏) and came in at 217. So all the extra gases, liquids, etc have taken a permanent vacation.😄 I noticed others mentioning having issues with GERD. For me, I notice that if I try to take a gallup instead of a sip then it comes back up as a big ol’ air pocket.😲 So sipping will be the thing to do. Have a Great Friday, Everyone!!!! And to all my other June Brothers and Sisters, I anxiously await your arrivals on the other side. Good Luck

Guess What???!!!!! I am back........ Surgery went well on Monday. I was discharged, yesterday. I was so glad to get home and finally get some REST. I don’t how anyone is suppose to get any rest in the hospital is was SO NOISY. Well for starters, on Monday, I came down with the worst case of constipation, I had ever suffered. 😕 So, I called myself smart and ran out and purchased some suppositories the morning of the surgery. I thought I could just plop one in and I would be relieved before surgery. NOT!!!!😨 Then the hospital called me and wanted to know if I could come in early!! OH NO!!! I will stay clear for nasty details but 2 days later, I was finally relieved of the problem. I can’t tell you how great that felt.😃 Anyways, I am doing good. Just resting and trying to increase my water intake. This clear liquid diet is a BEAST!!! I won’t lie to anyone……. I am so looking forward to an egg, fish or even chicken, I won’t complain. Once, I pass my 30 day mark, I should be able to eat some real food. But until then, the liquids have it. Thank God for Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu…..Between naps that is what is keeping me entertained. So the Purpledva is doing alright. I have my follow up visit on Thursday, the 13th. Btw, surgery weight was 217 which was a 2 pound variance from my home scale but I will take. And Post surgery weight was 222. Well of course, the doctor said,”We’ve just pumped you up full of gas and liquids…That’s expected”😂😂 Purpledva signing out. You’ve got this Funky JuneBunch

    June 2019 Surgery Siblings!

Saturday is here Funky JuneBunch, It is June 1st….. Day 6 of the liquid diet….Tomorrow is another milestone…….. I don’t know about anyone else but the shakes are now becoming a bit too sweet for me. I will have graduated to the Clear Diet phase. I am so looking forward to this. I can have coffee and broths….. I am an excellent cook/baker and I am getting excited about broths? Go figure. You don’t know how much this means to me……. I didn’t sleep much last night. I guess I am just anxious with everything going on Monday. When I finally got my surgery date, it STILL seemed like a million years away and now….It’s finally here. My family and friends are staying clear of me this weekend. And I wanted it that way. The talk of getting together and going out for a bit to eat or going to the movies…………I just can’t do it right now. I got on the scale this morning and clocked in still at 217. I am so pleased. Hopefully, with surgery they say you could potentially lose 40%? Oh Jimminy Cricket!!!!!!!!! I won’t know what to do with myself. Anywho, JuneBunch keep the faith, if I can forgo a week a delectable cuisine, anyone can. This phase/state is just temporary. We have those lovely before and after pictures to pursue. 21. Good Evening, I am well on my road to WLS. However, I get the results back from my pre-op tests and the only negative that came back was my ecg. It said it was abnormal. 😥 I just want to know if this is going to holdup or even cancel my surgery at all. I have been thinking about having WLS for at least 8 years. Now I have come so far only to possibly be setback forever. Has anyone had this happen to them? If so, what was/were the outcome. Your knowledge is greatly appreciated. My surgery is scheduled for 06/03/19. Thanks in Advance (Sigh)😨

    June 2019 Surgery Siblings!

TGIF Funky June Bunch, Day 5 of the liquid diet………… I made it through yet another day of protein shakes and water. But I must be honest, I know I am suppose to have 3 -4 shakes a day but yesterday…… I just couldn’t stomach yet ANOTHER shake. Some soup would be nice but my doctor said only protein shakes and water for the first 6 days of the pre-op diet. Whoever said variety is the spice of life, they were not KIDDING!!! I’ve been frantically getting my house in order. Cleaning up so I won’t have to worry about that and stocking up on some much needed supplies. Riley (a.k.a. The pug) will be placed in the kennel for a few days. I am bummed out about that…….. I keep telling myself it’s just for a few days. The hospital called and my arrival time is 10:30 am June 3rd. Folks IT’S HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Riley and I went for an extra long walk, yesterday. Need to get a couple of extra walks in before June 3rd. Well, I jumped on the scale again this morning and low and behold the scale came in at 217!!!!!!!! I couldn’t believe it but when you are reduced to protein shakes, water and walking 10K steps a day. Then threw in walking atleast 4 – 6 miles, I guess it will pay off in the end. June Bunch!!!!! It can be done………….Keep The Faith!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
