TheJuice202 got a reaction from MarvelGirl25 in Just not hungry...
    It's cyclical for me.
Some days I have to force myself to eat my 1000-1200 calories but other days I feel almost like a bottomless pit where even though i'm hitting my Water intake, Vitamins, Protein, Fiber etc I still feel hungry.
I'm basically 7.5 months out or so now.

TheJuice202 got a reaction from Silvernova in How to survive when your family eats junk food—help!
Your family is mine. My mom and brother haven't changed their diet one bit. I've had a few private crying fits and yelled at them a few times about it. They say apologetic things but nothing changes.
I'm 7 months out now but it's still infuriating they eat without care just because they know I can't eat it.
I keep telling them that SEEING it and SMELLING it just reminds me of what I can't have and it doesn't make me feel good remembering what I can't/shouldn't eat anymore. It gets easier (not easy but easier) not to crave it. Getting into the 'Regular/Forever' foods stage around 4 months post-op helped.

I do not know where to start. My immediate family (Husband, tweens) support me verbally, but they continue to eat lots of processed food, fast food, etc. I’ve asked that they keep that stuff in the pantry, but the request is ignored. (He actually brought home a case of Girl Scout Cookies tonight!). I can ignore the take-out and fast food for myself, but I get really depressed when I make something I can eat for the whole family they take a few bites (like slightly seasoned taco meat) and head for the bag of chips. I knew this was going to be an issue before surgery, but I brushed off how hard it would become mentally since I’m struggling to find a good eating pattern at 7 weeks post-op and find myself still drinking one shake a day to get 1/2 of my Protein. Has anyone else encountered this problem and how did you get over the emotional/mental block of everyone in your house being the exact opposite of you? I should clarify that I’m not preachy or pushy with them regarding diet since getting the sleeve was my choice, but I need to get more animal protein in the house for me at least. (Tuna is not tolerated—so that’s out. eggs are too since I’m allergic to egg whites). I’m really sick of Beans and cheeses at this point and almost caved with with McDonald’s fries last night when they were brought home. I’d also appreciate if anyone has any go to meat based recipes that freeze well in small portions that they could share, so I can wean off my reliance on shakes.
thanks for listening. My head and heart needed to vent.

TheJuice202 got a reaction from theemlewiseffect in Having surgery tomorrow and I cheated
I had a last hurrah when I probably shouldn't have but surgery went off without a problem the next day.
7:30pm the night before I had a personal sized flatbread pizza with bbq pulled pork & banana peppers plus a peach margarita. My surgery was 11am the next day.
When I was waiting to get rolled into surgery I overheard a guy getting prepped for his own surgery tell a nurse (after she asked him when he'd last eaten anything solid) "I cheated......A LOT" and the nurse said to him "oh that's okay people cheat on their pre-op diet all the time, you'll be fine".
Nancy, i'm super certain you'll be alright.

Dare I say not enough calories might be the problem.
I stalled almost 2 weeks. I read that not enough calories even though you're getting your Protein and Water can stall things. Right now I keep between 1200-1500 calories.
ANOTHER thing .... sodium intake. I noticed that some of the things I ate which were technically low-calorie had a bit too much salt. I'm back to losing...slowly but surely.

What brand do you have/use? I see so many varieties on Amazon....i'm afraid to get the wrong one.
I definitely want the belt and the shorts. And you're absolutely right it's about the consistency.

Depending on how its used, in these forums it can mean 1. Starting Weight or 2. Surgery (Day) Weight pre-op. Hope that helps unless someone else has another WLS meaning for "SW". Cheers & best of luck on your journey.

It helps you to really build up more of a sweat when your really putting in a workout, or just out walking, shopping, doing laundry. So that even the most menial of daily tasks you do, you can sweat or perspire out more. Wish you lots of success in all you're doing. Eventually I want to buy their shorts. My thighs & stomach will be served better with it. My toughest areas in working out & weight loss. Ugh. lol. Remember, it's not speed, but consistency that helps make the differences. Hugs.

I'm 5 months out from GB and I've lost 65lbs. But I have been stalled for 3 weeks! I take in 900 to 950 calories a day get all my Protein in and drink at least 100 ounces Water per day. I've tried walking more miles during the week. Someone I need help, words of advice, ANYTHING. I'm really feeling a certain type of way right now HELP!

Why do certain people do this whenever people of color particularly black folks come together? You couldn't help yourself. Do not "all lives matter" this thread.
Us wanting to bond with each OTHER does not mean we don't want to bond with everyone else.

Hello, my name is Jennifer, after researching WLS since 1996 when I initially learned about it from a random flyer in my mail in NYC, I had my RNY procedure at St. Joseph's Hospital in Warren, OH with Dr. Woodruff the morning of 06 February 2018. I'm 49 yo, widowed at age 33, childfree by choice and have been battling my obesity issues for 42 yrs, Type 2 diabetes since 2016 but now post-op I no longer have it. YAY!, sleep apnea (CPAP) and HYPOthyroidism (in my case it was discovered that my thyroid is under developed. next to no metabolism). So the meds I take for it (lifelong) and my "tool" have saved my life so that I'll be able to truly live a fulfilling life, not just exist in it.
I'm 5'5.5" tall, and my highest recorded weight was: 447 Lbs. in 2015/ 2016. My Day of Surgery Weight was: 379.
Currently I'm stalled at 282 Lbs. But I'm going bowling more frequently for exercise/ activity, not to keep score. Also I've recently signed up for the BLACK CARD Membership at Planet Fitness and recently invested in a GOTYGOTY hotgear tank top with built-in hotgear wrap belt. Honestly I've perspired but never really 'broke a real sweat'. So we'll see how that goes. I do use a lightweight cane for stability as I have bone bone loss and I'm extremely top heavy (have been ever since childhood. Seriously. The diagnosis is called 'Precocious Puberty'. It's lousy and the bane of my existence along with my huge awning of a stomach that won't reduce for anything. So I'll be working w/ a trainer in a couple of weeks (they're in the process of hiring new ones) to help me work my core and strength & build muscle and improve my posture. So wish me success and the same to on your odyssey/ journey.
    Cheers from Youngstown/ Boardman, OH.

I was painting the other day and found out how incredibly annoying it is to paint while your arm is flapping. I work out 5 days a week and Im trying to build muscle in my arms but that flabby stuff is pretty persistent. I still have hope it'll firm up. My butt also looks like a balloon someone deflated. Trying to build up some muscles in the gym but it's pretty slow going

I didn't become obsessed until I got my date (well my first one on 5/15 (real surgery happened 6/28)) but lol i've gotten it done and i'm still obsessed but about different things. Now it's post-op what I can drink, eat, recipes for every stage etc.

The excess skin is a huge fear of mine. Hopefully age is on my side if that even matters and enough exercise with the excess skin issue. Even though your underarm flaps applaud you when you brush your teeth I do too (with my hands) for the 100+ wl.

It's a looooonnnggg story but ended up getting it June 28th. So....you actually got yours 10 days before me. I'm Day 11 post-op and just had my 1st post-op with my Dietician & the surgeon today :). I'm doing ok...2 of my 5 incisions are pretty much completely healed and the other 3 are healing slow (but healing) and a bit tender. But i'm doing pretty good still....23lbs down as of now.
    How are you?
