TheJuice202 got a reaction from james2021 in Couldnt Do Surgery-Liver Size
This may be old but relevant for me in 2019. It never occurred to me they might not operate if they see someone's liver is too big on the operating table. I probably shouldn't have found this just 9 days away from my surgery date lol.
I had a small cheat on day 2 of my pre-op diet but i've been a good girl ever since (now on Day 5).

    Yep...it def differs.
Flip side 800-900 wasn't working for me after a while (about like 4-5 months)...I had to actually up my calories to 1000-1200 to see more consistent weight-loss. The further out I got I needed a bit more calories to actually lose. It could change again...i'm only about 7.5-ish months out.

Here's the recipe. I'm still working on the website and there is lots of "dummy filler material up" but this recipe is live along with another couple. I'm actually about to have one today!

@Provost First of all congratulations on your decision to literally change your life and health status.. I'm very sorry to hear your wife is not as supportive as you would like her to be. However you must do this for YOU . More than likely as she sees your steadfastness without resentment or anger towards her she will come around. Just continue to be nice, smile and do what you have to do.. It may take some time but just hang in there and whatever you do, Do NOT host a pity party . just follow the surgeon and nutritionist instructions to the letter and you will have excellent results... Men lose so much faster and astonishing than women. Max out with the Protein requirements and Water intake . Worry about the other skin issues when and if the time comes.. Save some money in the next year or so just in case and if not then knock yourself out with a total new wardrobe /car . lol .Good luck and God speed to a quick recovery in your fast approaching surgery...… keep in touch here on the forum....

My wife is also not supportive at all, maybe not to the extent of yours... no threats of divorce.

She is slowly coming around since I have made it clear that I am doing it (surgery is March 16th). I even had to arrange a friend to care for me when I got out of the hospital when she said she wouldn't do it (I think because it is a requirement to have someone watch you for the first couple days, she thought it was a way to stop it from happening).

I am not sure what is behind it, she struggles with weight as well and maybe she thinks she will be left behind or something. We have young kids and I just want to be able to be more active with them. I can't do things like to to the fairs and go on rides with them because I don't fit, I can't go canoeing or things they are starting to want to do.

Awww cool! As a nurse maybe she concentrated on all the stuff that could go wrong. Now, she has researched. It was the best decision even with getting GERD.

I walk, run and play. Your turn in a few months. Kiss her as you go into the operating room. Tell her you will be right back! Then do just that and kiss her again!

I made it. It's a leftover from a shoot this morning. It has ridiculous numbers. 115cals; 8g protein; 6g fat; 9g carbs; 2g fiber; 7g net carbs; 2g natural OCC sugars. I'm Lovely full!

K, so when @GreenTealael mentioned her eating window to be 20-30 mins, I wanted to see what I could get in in 20 minutes.
So here is today's first meal (and it's progress...)
Salad greens w/ vinaigrette + carrots + pickled beets + 3 oz roast pork + 1 tbsp crunchy garlic chili oil + the insides of the Kid's half eaten curry chicken wrap (1.5 oz grilled chicken, mayo, celery, spices, cheddar cheese)
    271 cals - 31g Protein - 15g NET carbs - 13g fat
Ate it all (eventually), except for the big chunk of cheese that I found unappetizing...

Ok, I guess if I stopped eating after 20 minutes, I would totally be eating ALOT less. Though if I did, I would probably get back into weight loss mode. Am used to taking forever to eat - don't even care if my food is cold anymore.
...and I'm with you about the Desserts, LOL

Thank you soooo much everyone for sharing your eating struggles and how you approach your daily life post surgery & weight loss. So enlightening & reaffirming.
I too eat the same basic menu every day so I don’t have to think about what I’m going to prep & eat - makes grocery shopping a breeze too cause I buy the same foods every week. If I’m going out to eat, I check the menu & choose what I’ll order before I go so being tempted by what’s on the menu (or agonising over what I can eat) is greatly reduced.
Genetics and hormones make losing weight a fight you have with one hand tied behind your back. I grew up hearing about my overweight relatives & how I would have to always watch my diet or I’d end up like them. I first put on weight when I went through puberty & then the last large weight gain was during menopause.
I grew up on a vegetable farm so eating ‘healthy’ was my norm - lots of meat & vegetables & being very active. I believe my weight problems were exacerbated because I didn’t eat until dinner throughout my high school years. And then regularly skipped lunch when I was working - too busy to stop & eat. So I killed my own metabolism. At the moment it seems to have been resurrected & hopefully it will have a long, long life.
    Thank you for sharing.

I basically had salad + some kind of Protein almost every single meal (90% of the time the protein was grilled chicken breast). Sometimes I would add some cooked veggies, but I prefer crunchy (raw) veggies.
I may be in the minority, but no, I never got bored of it (I guess I just love salad). Most of my meals even now are still salads with some sort of protein on them (by choice! lol). Though now, I may add other "toppings" that I didn't when I was in weight loss phase (cheese, berries, sauces, oils, carrots, nuts, bacon, eggs, or a bit of whatever leftovers there are in the fridge from the fam's meals, etc...)
It's weird, but I really like to cook/prepare food, smell food, look at food, watch others eat food, order food (lol), but when it comes down to actually eating it, I'm like, meh. Unless its dessert, lol.
Even now, I was soooo excited to get home and make this noodle bowl. Excited while I was grilling the chicken and excited pan frying the sprouts...then I sat down to dig in, had literally 3 pieces of chicken and one bite of noodles and 1 crispy brussel sprout leaf, and then I'm like, meh. It ain't no salad (I really need to go grocery shopping!)
(will take another crack at the noodle bowl it later, but my brussel sprouts will be soggy later...boo)

Went well. The doctor is very pleased with my results and we talked about my volume that I can eat. She said to be careful that I could stretch out my tool. But she said she wasn't worried about me eating 3c of salad cuz it is very Water filled.
129.4lbs is my most recent low. I briefly saw 128.4 (for a hot minute), but then as usual, sprang back into the 130s. It usually does that at least a few times before moving down to defend a lower weight. So no idea what to expect. LOL. I'm just relieved to be off the 134-135 boundary. LOL.
