It's Coronavirus or COVID-19 and it will depend on the level of outbreak and how fast it spreads. I doubt months though.

I think I will be a slow loser. I don’t want to give up because the weight is not coming off as fast as I expected. It would really suck it I only lost 15 lbs in 30 months. I think I would go crazy, I already think the surgery failed me. I’m trying to stay positive.
  3. Thanks
GastricGal reacted to GradyCat in How many pounds do you lose per week/per month?
It's really slowed down for me and I've checked and double-checked that I'm doing everything I'm supposed to be.

Thank you very much for your reply. I think your insight about the calorie intake may help. I have emailed my nutritionist to see if I can add more Protein per day. Add increase my calories to 800. Also, I’m gonna kick that scale to the curb and walk more. BEST ADVICE! Thank you.

Thank you for your advice. Do you think I should walk more maybe 1 hour a day or so? I’m walking 30 mins but just because I just had the surgery. Do you think I should go back to the liquid stage for a week or 2 more?

Hi, I’m eating baked chicken, lean lunch meat with low sodium, tuna, salmon, sardines, and chicken sausage. And I’m doing very well with these, 2-3 oz portions. No vomiting ever.
    Hope this helps.

I am a newbie, as well. I am heading into my 7th week.
I hope what I am about to say will help in some way.
Weight loss surgery is a life-changing. I think that it requires a considerable adjustment period. For me, the first month was the hardest. My emotions ran wild in regards to my expectations. The fear of failing circulated continuously in my head, fueled by other people's loss - which I read about on the sight as well as people in my surgical group...many of which hadn't even been following their program but had lost more weight than I had. For many of us wls is our last resort after trying and failing at dieting over and over again.
Over time your expectations will change. Seven pounds is a lot to lose in the first two weeks. Everyone's body is different. Now that I am on real foods And have been able to up my Water intake I am losing more weight...it might be the same for u. Hitting hydration, Protein, moving those bowels and moving that body...is what makes a difference for me and it took me a while to settle into a pattern of what works for me - still settling in tbh.
If you lose 3.5 pounds a week, which equals 14 pounds per month times 3 equals 42 pounds - it isn't the short term weight loss picture it is the long term. I highly recommend using my fitness pal or Fitbit to track your weight so you can visually see how much weight you have lost. Set mini goals for yourself.
Personally, at this point, I would be thrilled to lose 3.5 pounds each week. Like more experienced members have said - this process takes work, more so for some I think and less so for others due to genetics pre existing conditions etc.

Congrats. I think you are doing great.

The Celebrate bariatric Vitamins have all the necessities l. 500 units of B12, 3000 units of Vitamin D3 and etc. You also need 1500 mg a day of Calcium carbonate or citrate a day. Take 1 tablet after each meal and take the vitamins 2x a day. You can get that all from celebrate. You probably want the bariatric vitamins with Iron. As I am post menopausal I didn't need the iron.

I had my post-op appointment today and I am down 11lbs from surgery date of 4/29. According to my Surgeon and my dietitian I am ahead of schedule for the weight I've lost far. I was advanced to soft cooked eggs soft vegetables (fish which I don't eat) and some fruits. I am doing well with my Water, but need to increase Protein to 64 oz. I found that I don't like anything that is sweet and I don't have an appetite. My incisions are healed and pain near the largest incision is pretty much gone.
    Starting weight-260 lbs
    Surgery Weight-244 lbs
    Current weight-233 lbs

GastricGal reacted to GradyCat in Is this normal? Pouch Question
Sure, we're still going to have hunger, but it's more manageable. It doesn't completely go away, but it's not so intense that it drives us to eat with abandon. Also, we still sometimes have that awful "head hunger" that we have to deal with and learn to ignore.

Don’t panic I’m six weeks out and only lost 9lbs saw my surgeon today he’s over the moon with me
I lost quite a lot on the pre op diet
Ive hidden my scales and just going to follow what I know is right
I’m confident it will happen albeit slowly but that’s fine with me
I’m moving to solid food today so we’ll see what happens

ditch the scales and let yourself heal and be kind to yourself
It will happen when your body is ready

    good luck

people lose at all kinds of rates for lots of different reasons - gender, age, metabolic rate, starting BMI, whether or not they lost a lot of weight before surgery, etc. You are female - and you are starting at a low BMI (for a WLS patient), so right there that tells me that you're most likely not going to lose nearly as fast as some male who starts off at over 300 lbs.
I was a slow loser from the get-go - I lost a total of 16 lbs my first month, and I started out WAY heavier than you. Yet I lost all of my excess weight. Just stick to your plan and the weight will come off - whether fast or slow...

I don't think so. Follow your doc's program. I'm 6 weeks out and just started walking more regularly and just started seeing regular loss. Your body is healing now and trying to figure out what happened. I couldn't walk at much as you do at 2 weeks. I get that we all want to blink and be at goal weight but it takes time. We didn't gain it all overnight.

GastricGal reacted to I Am Groot in PLEASE HELP. I’m 2 weeks post op with very little weight loss.
    1. Give it time. You're only 2 weeks out. Also, there's a chance you'll lose no weight at all for a few weeks (search 3 week stall). Mentally prep for it, because if slow loss is bothering you now, the stall will be a mind ****.
    2. You started at a lower BMI, so naturally, your weight lost will be slower than someone who weighs more than you.
    3. Search the board for people who started out at a similar weight. Your experience is likely more normal than you think. You may need to reset your expectations about the process.

    Good luck on your journey.

The other thing that initially impacts post-op weight loss is all the Fluid that was pumped into your abdominal cavity during laparoscopic surgery, and if you were on an IV during your hospital stay. It will take time to lose the weight caused by this fluid. Be patient. It is usually recommended that you don’t weigh yourself the first month so fluctuations and stalls don’t mess with your head. Good luck. Your experience is very normal. Just follow your surgeon’s plan and you should be fine.

Easier? There is nothing easy about bariatric weight loss. This takes work.
Breathe, relax, and take this one day at a time. You didn’t gain weight overnight. You won’t lose weigh over night. Some lose slow some lose fast. Either way you are getting to your goal and healthy.
Don’t compare your loss to anyone else it will make you crazy. This is your journey. Work your plan and envision where you will be in a year,

I’m 2 weeks post op and I have only lost about 7 pounds. I am following the diet as required and I am also walking 30 mins per day. I’m getting scared this may not have worked for me. Shouldn’t the weight be falling off? On surgery day my weight was 229, the scale today said 222. What should I do?
