I hear ya! I've tried everything to break the stall and slow weight loss. I tried liquid-only and fewer calories, but that didn't work. But I did have some success on adding more calories, up to 1200 and that showed me some weight loss.

I'm sorry you're getting discouraged. I was TOTALLY there-- you can even look back at the beginning of this thread: I only lost 5 lbs in the first 12 days! I was really discouraged and doubting that it would work at a reasonable pace. But that turned into 25 lbs in just over 1 month! Everyone's journey is different; I know it can be frustrating to see other people's weight just fall off the first several weeks, but have confidence that your body is your greatest ally in this and it knows how to focus on what you need to recover and then will start using those fat stores!
Even though I've loved the couple weeks where I lost 6 lbs, I try to remember that even a 3 lb loss week after week will loss the weight much faster than I would've been able to do without surgery!

Me too. I had RNY on July 15 and am only down 10 lbs. It's as if my scale is broken -- it will not go below 250. Once I hit 240, I will be happy because I don't remember being below that number for years. 250 I remember. Maybe this is the way it goes. I hope others who had these stalls give us encouragement!

I bought this: Immersion Blender LINKChef 4-in-1 Hand Blender Stick Powerful Low Noise Large 800ml Beaker, Stainless Steel Whisk and 500ml food Chopper, on Amazon and talked to my NUT and she loved it! Just to take the cup and the wand to puree. I travel on the 19th.

I was restricted to ricotta, cream cheese, cottage cheese and BabyBels at first.

I was also told not to use Condiments other than light mayo...somehow I didn't know that starting out, and discovered that mustard and ketchup kinda hurt, but Cholula hot sauce didn't bother me at all.

Also, no black pepper, since it can get caught in your stomach sutures and cause a problem. Yeah, somehow missed that note as well, but I stopped immediately. Apparently I can start using it at 10 weeks...I'm halfway there.

    Hope this helps!

I'm more compliant on busy days because I don't get boredom hunger or have time to have head hunger. I still get the Water and Protein in.

Yikes! Sorry!!! You'll know soon if it's a one-off. Maybe take a small step back a stage at your next meal and see how you do with it, and also see how you do with fluids.
A tough food can happen any time. Or maybe you didn't chew well enough, ate too fast, took too big of a bite, or are just having an "off" day where your pouch or esophagus are irritated.

Like Mikeyy says get a second opinion as well. If you have to wait an extra month or two though what's really the big deal? I was originally scheduled got July 16th but insurance denied me because I had not quit smoking got 6 months. In understand my circumstance is way different then yours and I am not trying to compare ours. Only thing that is similar is I had to reschedule my surgery. I got it rescheduled for September 17th. On the bright side though it gave me an extra 2 months of reading and educating myself on head work and do's and don't's. It worked out better for me and now I'm going into this life changing surgery with even more research and education behind me. I hope this helps. I wish you luck and wish I could give more solid advice.

Thanks for y'all input. I'm going on little over 3 three weeks and not a single pound lost. Not gaining so keeping that positive thought in mind. Getting very frustrating, but gotta remember slow and steady.

people lose at all different rates due to all different factors - gender, age, starting BMI, metabolic rate, genetics, whether or not you lost a lot of weight pre-surgery, etc. Your weight of rate loss has very little (or maybe no) bearing on your ultimate success - your success is due to your level of commitment to your program. If you work hard and are committed, the weight WILL come off.
I lost 16 lbs my first month. And I have lost 100% of my excess weight, over 200 lbs. Try not to compare yourself to others. You can't control most of the factors that influence your rate of weight loss. You CAN control how hard you work at it. So focus on that.

I too have been having a fairly easy time of it and asked for calorie guidance. Puree/soft was 400-600/day with the eventual goal of 800-1200/day depending on activity levels. Hope this helps.

Wow, that seems wayyy low. I mean, 3 Protein Shakes alone are 400-450 cals, and I was also supposed to drink 1-2 glasses of skim milk, about 180 cals.

I'm 11 days out, down 9lbs. Only real problem I have is bending over to pick something up. Fluids and shakes are no problem, I hope to say the same about purees soon! Walking is a bit uncomfortable, with gravity pulling down on my belly jiggle and therefore my stitches, so I'm not doing as much of that as I'd like too.

KatieMc reacted to 2ndTimeFreedom in Lunch Meeting 1 week Post Op
So I went back to work one-week post-op. I had my first business lunch today and ordered Brazino and was able to eat 1/2 of the filet (3 ounces) and just asked for the rest to go. I was so stuffed and felt I was actively engaging in conversation, and I looked around me, and the others had cleared their entire plates or fish, spinach, and veggies.!!!! I was super proud of myself. I had green tea before the start of the meal and didn't drink the rest of the meeting. This was such a massive concern for me as I have so many eating situations. One meal at a time

KatieMc reacted to Brent701 in 3 Months - Sudden drop in appetite
I have had an incredibly smooth process so far with very little complications. This week I began to notice a sudden drop in apetite. Has anyone else had these fluctuations? My hunger post surgery has been low but this week its non existant. On the plus side I am losing more weight but I would like to feel normal again. I guess we all have good and bad days.

I did the Inca Trail for 4 days. You will need carbs, even straight sugar, to deal with the altitude. You'll be offered coca leaf tea and it must have honey or real sugar in it to work. And it really does help.

Every morning they boiled big pots of Water to purify it for our daily drinking supply. Carbs were the focus because of the altitude (9200-14000 feet), but you'll get plenty of Protein at lunch and dinner. My favorite dish was pumpkin and quinoa soup...about 2 years before quinoa got popularized here. It's a grain with a bit of protein. The Soup wasn't the whole meal, lol.

If I were to do this now, I'd swing a Protein Shake in the morning and wing it with a few Protein Bars or Jerky just in case there was a meal or 2 you really couldn't work with at all.
