  1. I confess that I'm on the last week of my pureed diet and I've struggled since day 4 after surgery. I was doing great before surgery and had few issues with pure liquid. I didn't know I was doing it wrong but I was eating some pureed food during the liquid diet post surgery (don't say I can have strained Soup and not inform me that broccoli cheddar soup is a no lol), I was eating applesauce too because I listened to the wrong nurse. Week 3 of pureed diet and I feel like I screw up every single day! I'm only eating 2 times a day because pureed foods aren't very satisfying and when I do eat I have more than 1/3 cup portion that I'm allowed. I strive to do better every day though!

  2. Definitely talk to your Primary care Dr or Gynecology Dr about it. I'm 32 and had my surgery on the 1st of April and I'm already feeling changes during my cycle. Pre-menopause runs in my family and I've been told to watch for symptoms. My mother had her Pre-menopause start after she had her last child (me) at 30. My OBGYN told me that Estrogen stores in fat cells and that after losing large amounts of weight your body's hormonal balances can go haywire and cause lots of problems. Good luck no matter what happens in your future and great job on your WL!

  3. I'm on the 2nd week of my pureed diet and I've really struggled with it. I keep eating food that's not pureed and I know that it's not what I'm supposed to be doing. I'm just hungry all the time and then I eat too much and hurt. I did some soul searching and realized that I can't do this to myself or I'll ruin my chance of success. So I went back to Protein Shakes even though I don't have to. Every time I thought I needed to eat I got up and moved around. I'm realizing just how much food effects every facet of my life. So instead of focusing on the food so much I'm going to focus on movement. My Dr told me that it's very important to focus on myself for the next year because I'm going to be going through a lot of physical and mental changes. And that is exactly what I'm going to do!

  4. I've been to OA meetings in my area and they were helpful and the people were nice. I don't attend anymore but I do have a book that's about the process of OA. It's all about looking within yourself, finding out what your triggers are and learning to cope with them while you give up your trigger foods and habits. It's a lot of self reflection and problem solving.

  5. By the way, I want to show you what you can look forward to down the road. Cuz this time you are in is temporary.
This was lunch. I made a recipe of cauliflower cloud bread sliders and made a leftover grilled salmon bahn mi sandwich with crisp and ice cold veggies as the side! I couldn't finish it, but ate about 3/4 of it and had a few carrots and cucs leftover. But it was so good. I'm full, satisfied and have a happy belly! No food angst. Deeply nutritious.

  6. I did after my surgery too. I was sad, angry, I even thought, "why did I do this?" too. I realized after I started eating real food again, my body adjusted and my taste buds changed. And continue to change even now(6m post op) I can't most stomach fast foods, it taste funny even tho it smells great. Restaurants I use to love, I find the foods aren't as good either. ... I'm finding my home cooked foods and meal preps are everything now and I really enjoy them.

I hope that you will find the balance that is right for you too. Until then, maybe pack your drinks, soft foods you do enjoy everywhere you go.
Thanks for the encouragement! I just feel like I'm being ridiculous but at the same time I know I'll calm down lol

  7. I'm 4 weeks post RNY operation. I've noticed that now that I'm unable to eat food I get angry about food. I get mad that I can't eat, mad at my friends and family because they can eat what they want and I even get angry at the fact that I drive past so many restaurants etc... Is anyone else struggling with this at all? Does anyone have any ideas on how I can change that thought process and not let it bother me so bad?

  8. I got my RNY surgery on April 1st. Im very heavy and I'm short so thats what I needed for optimum weight loss. My bariatric surgeon told me that they do tons of sleeve to bypass surgeries because the sleeves fail for multiple reasons. My sister in law got the sleeve 2 years ago and had major complications with strictures.

  9. I'm in the pureed food portion of my post-op diet and I notice that I'm gaining some weight back. I admit that I have been messing up a lot with my eating choices. I'm struggling with balancing the things I'm supposed to be doing. I'm supposed to eat 5 small meals a day of 1/4 cup portions, drink a Protein Shake, drink Water and take my Vitamins.

I'm not drinking the Protein shake, I don't eat until later in the day, I'm not making healthy food choices when I do eat, I cant seem to slow my eating down to 15 minutes.

Does anyone have any ideas to help me or words of wisdom/support?

  10. I had my surgery on April 1st and am really struggling with the Fluid intake and lack of weight loss. My dietician said that women struggle more with the weight loss because during our periods we retain Water and gain weight. I was told that drinking fluids is the most important part of the healing process. Something I've found helpful is getting a steamer from my local coffee stand. 16oz steamed milk with sugar free flavorings. The warm liquid goes down easier and it also relaxes your intestines.
