wallpapermusic reacted to MrsGamgee in Breaking Up Is Hard To Do
Seeing as today was the start of my pre-op diet, I decided to make some other changes. They may seem minor to some, but it was hard to do... Today I broke up with almost every food based Facebook and Instagram account I have followed over the years. Restaurants, recipe sites, foodie celebrities, corporate food accounts, and food festivals all got the axe. The only ones I kept were ones that were things that I could realistically see myself continuing to use after surgery (like my favourite hot sauce) and ones that aren't solely food based.
Next will be to remove myself from any recipe newsletter mailing lists. And any plus size clothing stores' mailing lists too.
Have you had any unanticipated break ups?

I only took 3 days off, but I work from home. I also dont have the luxury of sick time and was saving all of my PTO on a vacation. I feel like after 2 weeks I would've been more prepared to work.

I went back a week after surgery.....I was tired but fine overall. Took liquid tylenol mid day the first two days. But I went back midweek so it wasn't so bad.

Here is some info from Kaiser (my plan is them). Always check with your team if unsure, but hopefully this will help.

I know you are early on but when using mayo, my nutritionist recommends mixing it with Greek yogurt. 1 part mayo to 3 parts yogurt. less fat and calories and the mayo gives its flavor to the mayo. perfect in egg salad, tuna salad , chicken salad etc later on.

Try collagen powder, it's usually about the same amount of Protein as whey shakes, and you can add it into other foods. It will also help with the Hair loss and skin elasticity. Power through, girl! You got this!

I'm working with Dr. Brian Long at the Nicholson Clinic. They have an office in Dallas and an office in Plano. The staff there is wonderful and I love Dr. Long. He's very knowledgeable and has been doing bariatric surgery for a long time. I've just started my journey and am waiting on insurance approval (fingers crossed!). The office staff has been amazing guiding me through the steps of this long and confusing process. I highly recommend contacting them!

    MY HOSPITAL BAG-PREP
I finally hit 15lbs lost on PRE-OP diet! The 3 day stall is over! Going into surgery at 345! You can see my preparation of Vitamins below and my hospital bag. I'm going with simple is best. I will wear a dress and flip flops to and from the hospital. I have one set of elastic pants and a workout top. My husband lives nearby and can bring anything I need.
    PREP
I cleaned the house and all the laundry is done. My broth (chicken, beef, and bone) is in ice cube trays in the freezer. I have sugar-free popsicles, Protein Jello, protein Water, and an assortment of zero calorie beverages and water flavoring. I have some protein Soups, unflavored Protein Powder (to add to foods), vanilla protein powder, a variety or ready made shakes and a few powder mocha shakes. Some of my pureed foods are in my pantry so that I don't have to run out if I don't have to.

I haven't made it to the losers bench yet, but from everything I've read and heard what you're experiencing is totally normal. Your body has just been through a traumatic change, and with it comes a lot of adjustment.
You're healing. That means that you're going to be more susceptible to emotional swings, including anxiety. Everything is going to feel bigger, more serious, worse than it would when you are at your best. You're learning how to nourish your now very different body, and to top it all off, the stores of estrogen that have been in your fat cells for years are now flooding your bloodstream making you feel all kinds of crazy.
There's a phrase that I've read quite a lot on these boards... Embrace the suck. Protein Shakes suck. Pain sucks. Stalls suck. Own it, and then try to look forward. This is phase to be gotten through on your way to a better, healthier you.

wallpapermusic reacted to Amanda Dutton LPC in Bipolar diagnosis
So glad I came across this thread. Hopefully I can help.

Therapist, specialize in treating us, also complete evaluations, also have Bipolar I (and had surgery so...🤷🏼‍♀️).

According to the actual guidelines that we are supposed to follow regarding who has to be considered as not ready for surgery:
    - actively psychotic
    - recent (past year) inpatient hospitalization for mental health (suicidal/homicidal)
    - drug/alcohol abuse within the past 6 months
    - unstable mental health diagnosis (e.g. not actively in treatment, not keeping up with meds and appointments, etc.)

Now, the good news is, NONE of those things mean the person will NEVER be approved - they may just have to have a period of time that they show stability/treatment compliance BEFORE they get approved.

That info is straight from the ASMBS (American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery) guidelines. If the psychiatrist says otherwise, he can take it up with them! 🤣

    I hope that helps.
