  1. So very pissed my PS surgery was postponed due to me getting sick. Waiting room of PCP was filled with sick people when I went for my pre-op testing. Why do they not give masks to the sick people or put them in a different room. There were 20 of us in the waiting room. I wonder how many of them are sick now becuase of 4 that were coughing, sneezing etc?  I became sick on the 30th and am not well enough for them to do the surgery. All that personal testing, setting up  driver,   and work related planning for a substitute teacher, transferring cients etc and now it isn't going to happen. Insurance approved it  until March 20th. It better happen before then as I don't know if we can fight again as it was denied the first tiime.

I'm so sorry to hear that!!! If someone is sick, the person should know better to contain his/her illness when in public!!! It's called being courteous to others. I pray that your body is restored back to perfect health in time for your surgery! No more setbacks for your PS! Keep us posted! I expect to hear you are well. I hope to hear you are well for it!

Dang mamacita! So sorry you're fighting the cold/flu bug. Yes, it's a pet peeve of mine. I went to the PCP for my routine yearly a few years back and within 10 days was sicker than a dog and broke a rib coughing. LOL.

Congrats on getting approved for skin surgery. Will pray that you get it before Mar. 20!!! ((hugs)) Hang in there and drink lots of chicken soup!

  2. This morning wanted to go swimming and put on on my swim suit that I wore before my breast surgery. OMGOSH I can't wear this swimsuit anymore. The tummy fits fine but the chest was so huge and the straps kept coming down and exposing my new little boobies. I love one piece suits with skirts but am going to have to figure out a way to take in this suit on top, if it is even possible. A friend gave me her size 16 swimsuit. The tops fits but I couldn't get the bottom passed my upper thighs and over my butt skin.  Maybe I can attach my 32  bottom to her 16 top.   Am very happy with  eliminating 290 pounds  but this excess skin transsformation and misshape body stage is something else. Hopefully by summer 2018 I will be able to look at this stage and have a great laugh in my new trim body.

Thanks Kathy. I had another NSV today. I got to work and unloaded my electric mobility device to discover I didn't have the key. Must have lost it yesterday in the Walmart parking lot. From 9:30 until 4:00 had to walk to every place I went in that building. Thank Goodness I did have my cane because by 4 I was exhausted and bent over a bit but I walked. It felt really good but still see I have a lot more work to do.

  3. Today 18 days after my 1st or 4 skin removal surgeries I was able to walk 1/4 mile with the walker. This is the farthest I have walked in over 30 year without any back pain. I am so excited that I was able to do this. When the 2nd skin removal surgery is done in the Fall I may be able to walk without the walker. To be able to do all the activities that were taken away from me over 30 years ago would make me so very happy and proud at what I have accomplished over all these years. Over 280 pounds gone, smaller boobies and soon a smaller tummy and than 2 more skin removal surgeries is a lot to go through but it is so worth it in the end. :)

    1. Lexington1020

How is your pain? Congrats on such a wonderful achievement! <3

    2. ssflbelle

      ssflbelle

Thanks so much. No more back pain. As for the boobie surgery I still have some swelling under the armpits but the pain isn't severe enough that I need to take anything for it. I am icing the girls twice a day and the swelling is less.

  4. Getting pre-op medical testings and clearance is so stressful and frustrating. I supposedly had all my pre-op testing for excess skin removal on June 9th. Wednesday days before surgery is to happen I am told I need to head back to the PCP and have PT (Prothrombin Time), PTT (Partial Thromboplastin Time), and INR (International Normalized Ratio). asap. Why the heck wasn't this done June 9th. So I rush my butt to the PCP get this done just in time to get  over to the hospital for the pre-surgery appt only to have to go back to the PCP because  the hospital said I have an infection from a blood blister that broke open on my breast. Now I am on a cream and antiboitic 5 days before I am to have surgery.

Friday 3 pm I was told the PS still didn't have medical clearance. Got the referral lady to email me the 17 pages of clearance, printed it off and hand delivered it to the surgeons office.   I just don't understand why I am having so much trouble getting these breast boulders turned into molehills. If this surgery is canceled again for the second time I am going to be so upset I think I will explode and hack them off myself.

It is frightening getting your hopes up and then have it be shattered. I am praying that all goes well keep fighting and being your own advocate.

  5. I got my biopsy results back today. I am so thrilled to be able to tell you all the biopsy is benign. Thank the Lord o:) there is NO Cancer. Now I go back to the breast surgeon, get insurance approval again and go to the Plastic Surgeon to get these hugmongous breast and excess skin off my chest. Who knows maybe it will even help my back so I can walk again without the back surgery

your breasts that you've had to carry.

too bad you have to start over with many

things pre-surgery - butttttt i know that all

good things to those who wait!! congrats

      ssflbelle

Thanks everyone for the congratulations. Yes it will be a pain to have to start all over again with approval and reschedule date for plastic surgery but at least now we know there is nothing there to cause any harm once it has been done. I hope it is soon as my back is getting worse with the more weight I lose. Not sure why that is, perhaps because my fat cushions are gone:D

  6. Had my breast biopsy yesterday. Results should be told to me on Wednesday. Friends please  pray it is benign and the excess skin removal surgery can be reschedule soon. It has been 6 weeks since it was canceled. Never thought it would take that long to schedule a biopsy.

    1. ProudGrammy

      ProudGrammy

      ssflbelle

Thanks Kathy Have been on pins and needles since March 20th when excess skin removal surgery was canceled because of this. Have let so many bad foods and drinks into my life due to the stress of having to wait 6 weeks for this biopsy. Hopefully tomorrow will be good results and I my stress will leave and I can get back to the food plan and the rescheduled surgery. Am seeing my NUT tomorrow and my mental health counselor Friday as I have really messed up during these 6 weeks and need to to get this back under control so I can get off the last 37 pounds.

    3. Sweet as peaches

Im praying for the best of your results. Had enough of cancer destroying lives. Send all love towards you.

  7.:44_frowning2::57_cry: Very angry and disappointed my breast surgery for tomorrow has been cancelled. Less than 24 hours before surgery I am told I have a lump and need a breast biopsy to be scheduled. Nothing like them waiting until the last minute.

    1. Newme17

      Newme17

Oh no! It's terrible they waiting till the last minute. On the other hand, let's pray this lump is NOTHING! and that it's good to get this part done before having the surgery anyhow. Be blessed hon!

  8. Had mammogram, EKG, chest  x-ray urine and blood drawn today. I have to see a cardiologist as the EKG showed something they didn't like. In 2016  something also showed before I had my  3 procedure surgeries. However the   Cardiologist cleared me then.  So I am hoping I get to see him fast and he clears me again as March 21 Breast surgery is right around the corner and I would hate to postphone it. Please pray that everything will be ok! Thanks

Kathy I haven't been approved this year by the cardiologist yet. I just had the EKG yesterday.  The PCP saw something on the EKG he did and has referred me to a cardiologist.

  11. I DID IT! This former 497 pound 61 years old who has lost 280 pounds, but still can't walk biked 6 miles for the Loop for Literacy. Raised $310.00 for the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County. I won a cap for raising the money and a medal for crossing the finish line. My Team was in the top 10 for raising money. Thanks to all my friends who supported me both financially and emotionally. 1 1/2 years ago I never could have done it. IT SURE FELT GREAT! Look at my profile to find today's pictures.

  12. I had my PS consultation today which had been canceled last week by the Dr due to him having the flu. I have only been nervous like this one other time in my life and no it was not my wedding day. I was so nervous I was shaking and had tears in my eyes. :'( I have not been naked in front of anyone since I have lost the 278 pounds and today I stood in front of 2 people as the Dr had his nurse with him. Not only was I completely naked but pictures were taken from all kinds of angles. He congratulated me on the weight loss and said I was an excellent candidate. If the insurance denies me he will fight to be sure I get this excess skin removed. The Dr and I agreed a breast lift and nipple regrafting should be the first of 4 surgeries we should try to get approval. So now I sit and wait for insurance to approve it. The waiting can be anywhere from 2 to 10 weeks. The Dr said for me to keep on trying to lose weight and doing my exercise so I am as thin as I can be for the surgery. I cried when he said I was a good candidate at where I am now but thinner is always better. I was afraid I would have to wait until I got to my goal. However he agreed getting all this skin off my breasts will help my back and maybe I could even walk again without the back surgery. What a wonderful thing that would be if I could walk again without back surgery. :)

  13. Took in an additional 3 inches on 4 of my pants. This is the 3rd time I have taken in these pants. I still haven't bought anything new except for my Christmas shirt which was a 3x down from a 10X. Have no idea what size pants I am in now. However seeing these smaller sizes really feels great!

  14. Despite taking biotin and B-12 since June of 2015, it has finally happened to me! 10 months post op and I am seeing hair breakage around my temples and frontal scalp. Isn't this a bit late for hair breakage? I was expecting it around 3 to 6 months not 10 months post op. Veterans, how long did it take for you to go through this phase before hair started to grow back?

      ssflbelle

I am seeing short hairs but do not believe it is regrowth. I feel it is my hair breaking. If it is regrowth I never noticed that I was losing hair before. Hope you haven't lost too much hair and if so, it comes back quickly.

    3. Bufflehead

      Bufflehead

I don't think hair breaking is a typical side effect from surgery. The normal side effect is hair completely falling out from the root, not breaking, and not 10 months post op. My guess is that you have something going on that is probably unrelated to your surgery. If I were in your shoes, I would start with asking my hairdresser, PCP, and dermatologist. Good luck!

    4. LisaMergs

      LisaMergs

Heck. I TNOUGHT mine was slowing til I washed my hair today. Damn. Worse one yet. But. I can also see new stuff growing in. Odd phenomenon isn't it? I'm two days before my month mark...

Perhaps it is because I'm still losing weight rapidly, but I have zero interest in trying to slow it down.

  15. Had my 9 month follow up and have lost 92 pounds. Total weight loss 274. Dr is finally looking into excess skin removal surgeons in my area. Have 43 more pounds to lose before he will refer me to the plastic surgeon. HURRAY!

  17. When I read of other peoples pre and post non weight loss surgeries and medical problem they have had I am so grateful for the health that I did have despite being obese most of my life. The WLS, hernia repair and gallbladder removal all at the same time was the first surgery I ever had and I am 60 years old.

I never knew my Grandmothers or Grandfathers but my Mom was the one who taught me to be grateful for what we had.

Yes I was very lucky not to have had the diseased gallbladder or hernia explode. I had them for at least a year before the

surgeon was willing to remove and repair them when he did the weight loss surgery.

  18. Very frustrated with the fact that I weigh the same as others and am the same height and I am not wearing the size 16 & 18 that they are wearing. I am not even close to that size yet. Why are our bodies so different and when will I be out of the X's ?

      Djmohr

@WLSResources/ClothingExch is absolutely correct. You have to remember that everyone is shaped differently and depending on where you carried your weight, you will have loose skin that effects sizing. And every manufacturer sizes differently.

I wear an 8 in some jeans on the bottom but have to select a 10 in others. I have tried on and fit into a 6. It is so whacked.....you must must must try on everything before you buy it. I used to be in a 26 top and a 24 bottom......big changes in my clothing sizes. I wear either a med or a large or a 10 or 12 on top while my bottom is smaller.

Lastly I would say, while your body is in rest or stall mode, it seems to almost reshape itself. So while I wasn't losing weight, I was losing inches in places and my clothing was getting smaller. It makes no sense to me but that is how it worked. Be patient.

    3. BarefootDrummer

      BarefootDrummer

I think muscle has a lot to do with it too. It weighs more, but you look smaller because of it. 2 years ago I lost a lot of weight running. When I was at the same weight I am right now, I looked much smaller. I've been trying to fit into some of those same clothes and they don't fit. I'm fattier than I was then. :-(

    4. Armygalbonnie

      Armygalbonnie

When I used to work out all the time, I weight 160 but wore a size 6/8. That was crazy!!! It had to do with muscle mass and tone.

  19. Since last Tuesday's fall I have been in kind of a depression. Not really sure what is going on as I did succeed in getting myself off the floor, which I am very pleased with, yet haven't exercised at all this week. Sleep has been lousy too. Since losing the extra body weight my own body cushion is gone. Since having such lousy sleep lately this weekend I got my bed foam cushion out of storage and my room mate and I put it on the bed. I had taken it off years ago when I had switched beds. Last night's sleep was not that much different than the night before. Hopefully within the next few days with this extra bed cushion I can get some better sleep and get out of this funk I am in.

    1. songsmith

      songsmith

I hope you start feeling better. I'm an insomniac (which doesn't help my depression). My surgeon prescribed Trazadone (sp) to help me sleep. It's actually an anti-depressant that isn't used much any longer because it causes drowsiness. Fortunately, it's one of those drugs people who've had WLS can take (the Advil PM and even Tylenol PM were out). So you might talk to your doctor next time you see them. I grok you about the lack of padding! My tailbone is in constant pain now, and that's with an ugly little coccyx pillow! Take care!

  20. I have lost of total of 248.6 pounds, I now weigh less than I have lost. Just went today for my 6th month blood work up. I see the surgeon on July 25th. I hope the blood work up will be good and am hoping to lose another 6 to 8 pounds before I see him.

Thanks everyone! Would you believe since I posted the above comment I have lost another 4.4 pounds in only 3 days. I still can't believe I am getting so small. I took in a pair of pants yesterday and said to my room mate I think I sewed these too small. I couldn't believe they fit me. It is so odd for me to see my pants being so small and I still have 89 more pounds to lose.

  23. I have broken the 3rd stall since surgery and am down 8 more pounds for a total of 47 since surgery 15 weeks ago. 230 pounds gone from my highest weight. That new scale I got on Monday was kind of not liking either my body or maybe where I placed it as it wouldn't register for me. The number after the . wouldn't stop moving and the scale never beeped like it did for my roommate when he got on it. Yesterday the scale finally registered a weight for me. I moved it and got on it naked where as before I had clothing on.

  24. Was hoping after a 2 week stall to see the scale move down but it never turned on. This was a Siltec bariatric scale that weighs up to 1,000 pounds. This scale only weigh in whole pounds. Will be getting a new 440 pound limit scale tomorrow at Target. It will be nice to see fractions of pounds instead of whole pounds. I sure do hope I finally broke this stall-we shall see tomorrow.
