    Funny xmas story

I wish I had friends like that. I am almost 2 years post op and even though I am not one for pasta my downfall is sweets. Wish someone would have sprinkled salt all over the first sweet I had put on my plate. Have a Great 2018
  2. Congratulations on your 4th year. Hope it brings you everything you seek. I am heading towards 2 this Jan and am still not at goal, but will never give up. Thanks for making me see it is something we have to work at every day regardless of how many years ago with had th surgery.
  3. Yes I looked at this site as well and agree. To pricey for me. I will be needing sleeve compression when I have my arm surgery in early 2018.
  4. I had my gallbladder removed, hernia repaired and sleeve surgery all at the same time and I was 60 years old at the time. I went in on a Wednesday afternoon and was back home on Friday afternoon. I did have a lot of pain from gas and at one point my BP dropped really low so they kept me an extra day. It took me 4 weeks to recover and get back to work but that was because I am disabled and couldn't walk as much or as long as I should have.
  5. Yes Hoe is a long-handled gardening tool with a thin metal blade, used mainly for weeding and breaking up soil. However the online slang dictionary has hoe as a noun a general insult, usually applied to females. So if you meant it that way, hoe is correct as a slang word.
  6. Depends on which you are asking about the person, tool or expression?
  7. Yesterday I received notice that my Coventry Summit Medicare Advantage plan has denied the removal of the excess skin from my arms. I have lost over 280 pounds, have had infections in the fold area of the elbow, have CTS, Ulnar Nerve damage and a left frozen shoulder and must wear shirts larger than my body to accommodate the size of these arms. My Doctors and I are going to fight this and hope for the best. Others whom were approved what did you do that got the insurance company to say yes to this much needed surgery?

    Vet Search

Yes James I think you are right on as to what happened and needing a thick skin. I first joined in 2015 when I was researching about the sleeve and waiting insurance approval. Lots of great veteran advise was given to me along the way. However the boards have certain changed since that time and I am finding myself in here less often because of it. Good to see you are still around and doing so well 4 years later. I am still trying to get to my goal and waiting for approval for the second excess skin removal surgery even though I am not at goal yet.

    Vet Search

I completely forgot about this forum until I saw your posting. I was never allowed to post before. Now that I am 21 months post op I qualify as a Veteran. But hardly any Veterans are left here to chat with. Good to see you came back. Maybe others will too.

    Plastic Surgery?

Thanks Jess for this link. Arm surgery is next for me, I hope. Still waiting approval. Have no idea what size to order so I guess I will have to wait until after the surgery to order. Right now I continue to wear 3/4 or full length sleeves despite being down in Florida. There is so much excess skin all over my body that I have to hide everything under baggy clothing. Sgc so glad you finally have those drains out and are getting some new clothing. I also purchased some new items but have to be careful as I am still dealing with a lot of excess skin everywhere except the boobs. Can't wait till all this skin is removed which probably will not be until summer of 2018.

    Choosing what to do first?

Try to get the worse most difficult area taken care of first. In my case, because of my physical limitations with 4 herniated bulging disc my PS and I discussed the order which might offer the greatest relief to the pain issue. We decided breast first, tummy second, arms third and lower half last Breasts were done on June 26th. At my highest I was a 70 I at surgery I was a 48 DDD and today I am 44 B. Since June I have been using a rollator more than the scooter. I still need the scooter for shopping and work but am now able to walk for at least 20 minutes. Before breast surgery I could barely walk for 4-5 minutes before terrible pain set in. Late Sept I went back for the next consultation. The PS decided to change the order as my tummy is going to be a very big job. I also have a hernia and he wants me to be closer to my goal weight. So we are trying to get insurance approval for my arms. I have lost a total of 290 pounds. After the breast surgery there is still so much excess skin in all the other areas that it doesn't matter to me the order, just so long as it keeps coming off.

    Do people actually date anymore?

Well as it turns out he really did have to work and we met today for 45 minutes for a cup of coffee in the morning. Later in the day I got a text saying he enjoyed our meeting and we would get together again. We shall if that is true.

    Love injectiins

I had to take lovenox for 30 days. They showed me how at the hospital and Inever froze any part of my tummy. Had never given myself an injection before and was freaking out until I did it myself in the hospital. Be prepared for lots of bruising but very little pain. Think positive. You will do fine.

    Plastics today!!

Sounds like each day is getting better and better. Reading your success and how you are managing will be of help when my time comes. Thanks a bunch and please keep us informed of your progression. Your looking might good. I will need to have this next year. Your doctor took off 15 pounds and your tummy is half the size of mine. My Dr said I only had 5 pounds of skin. How can that be when I am twice as big in that area. I wish mine was off now
  19. Was taking several different store bought vitamins as I couldn't find one vitamin that had it all until I took the facebook vitamin challenge. Now I take two chewable watermelon Celebrate vitamins a day and am so glad I do. Check them out, they have different flavors.
  20. This morning wanted to go swimming and put on on my swim suit that I wore before my breast surgery. OMGOSH I can't wear this swimsuit anymore. The tummy fits fine but the chest was so huge and the straps kept coming down and exposing my new little boobies. I love one piece suits with skirts but am going to have to figure out a way to take in this suit on top, if it is even possible. A friend gave me her size 16 swimsuit. The tops fits but I couldn't get the bottom passed my upper thighs and over my butt skin.  Maybe I can attach my 32  bottom to her 16 top.   Am very happy with  eliminating 290 pounds  but this excess skin transsformation and misshape body stage is something else. Hopefully by summer 2018 I will be able to look at this stage and have a great laugh in my new trim body.

Thanks Kathy. I had another NSV today. I got to work and unloaded my electric mobility device to discover I didn't have the key. Must have lost it yesterday in the Walmart parking lot. From 9:30 until 4:00 had to walk to every place I went in that building. Thank Goodness I did have my cane because by 4 I was exhausted and bent over a bit but I walked. It felt really good but still see I have a lot more work to do.

    Panniculectomy

So sorry TerryJones that I can not contribute any info to you. Good luck with the surgery However I also have to have work done. If I am understanding correctly the panniculectomy only is for below the belly button. The area above the belly button is considered to be a Tummy Tuck? Are these usually done at the same time and how much longer would recovery be if both are done.? I believe we will be discussing my need to have both done in 2018. This Fall the Dr wants to work on my arms. Thanks for any replies.
  22. I was 497 when I started to seriously try to lose weight. I used 2 different weight loss plans and went to a gym to do sit down exercises as I am disabled and was not able to stand but 2 to 3 minutes at that time. I had a BMI of 80.2. I managed to get to 352 which was a BMI of 56.8 when I couldn't lose any more weight on my own and went to a Bariatric Doctor. He said my insurance requred that I be on a 6 month supervised diet even though I had lost all that weight on my own. During that 6 months I went through all the preop training and testing and lost down to 315 which is a BMI of 50 when the surgeon did the sleeve, repaired a hernia and took out my diseased gallbladder. I would go to the Bariatric now so that the weight you do lose will count toward the supervised diet if your insurance requires you to be on one.
  23. Had my 7 week PS followup on Monday! Dr is very pleased the boobies are healing nicely. No incisions opened up which is great! However my left nipple still has not popped out yet. Was told to keep massaging it, which I will do. Told I could finally wear a regular bra. However we did discussed the fact that I bought the B cup bra in the style I use to wear and am smaller than that B cup bra. Yet, my friend gave me her padded B cup bra and the cup part fits over my boobies nicely. The padding comes out. The Dr and I discussed sewing those paddings into my B cup bra as I need the back and sides higher which is my bra style. I do sew so I was pleased to hear to go ahead and do that for now. Good News! The Dr wants me back on Sept 11th for the next consultation for PS which will be my arms. I was hoping for my tummy but I still have about 27 pounds before I get to goal. The Dr felt that the arms were ready to be worked on and the extra 27 I have to lose wouldn't really affect the arms as much as the tummy. Plus I have a hernia so he needs to coordinate with another surgeon for the hernia repair and tummy surgery at the same time This will be done next year. I am able to go back to swimming and can go to the gym if I wish to do so. I have been walking with my walker and also my cane and have been riding my bike. I am feeling great and have so much more confidence and am becoming more involved in life. I am looking forward to finding out about the arm lift and how long of a recovery period I will need. I don't know if getting the arm lift will help with my ability to walk better but I do know it will help with the types of blouses I will be able to wear. No more long sleeves!

    Itchy!!!!!!

I didn't have any itching after my surgery but 1 1/2 years later I itched and scratched my left leg so badly last night. It was driving me crazy so I applied some avenoo lotion. That hurt stung my leg really badly so I washed it off. Then applied Aquaphore healing ointment on it and also took some Benadryl. I had throbbing and shooting leg pain when I went to bed. I had to apply the ointment 3 times today and this evening it is looking better.
  25. i was wondering the same thing about the other flavors as well. It is either Premier or Atkins for me I don't like the other ready mades and hate to make shakes.
