Losingit2018 reacted to BriarRose in update on 10 years out regain, and weight loss
I posted a while ago about my weight loss, and regain and taking control again.
Started at 320 or there abouts 5'2" and 54 years old 10 years ago. VSG. Lost weight and got to 180 pounds. Over 8 years I regained to 220. Started slow weight loss / getting back into control in mid July this past year. I have now lost 30 pounds. Back to 190. I started my weight loss with a BMI over 54 in the 300's. I am still considered obese at 190 and a BMI just under 34; but darn it, I am so flipping proud of myself.
Yes, I am 64 years old. No, I can't really exercise ... but I do some short walks and I garden and vegetable garden, take care of my chickens. I had to get a local teen to help me lift 40 pound bags of feed this year; but I can still haul the 25 lb bags.... and I continue to work full time in my career. Life is good.
In my weight loss journey this time out, I stopped at 20 pounds lost and took a break. I experimented with adding in more foods, and balancing out what I needed to do to maintain that 20 pound loss, and did that for a month, then decided to lose some more. I think that i never really paid all that much attention to how much, what kinds of foods how I Prepare them.... and exactly how my body reacts to it. I use very little salt at home. When I eat out, I gain weight from the added salt. Yes, it is Water weight from the salt; but being on lock down at home and working from home, with no lunches out for meetings.... going to have to find places to lunch that cut the sodium out !!! Going to continue what I am doing. Taking breaks, slow weight loss and maybe make it down to overweight, or not.... but will be pleased to keep that 30 # off !!!
Still using my VSG. 10 years later.

Adding more dense Protein in there will help to keep you satiated. You seem to have more liquid type meals than you do dense protein. I find that dense protein sticks with me longer.

Thank u so much for an honest answer. I'm 3 months out this was the first time with alcohol and drugs ( I did this lots before wls) I just got drunkand kind of forgot about the sleeve and then panicked I'd wrecked all my good work
I'm managing to keep Water down today so hopefully it's going away... defo a lesson learnt
  6. Thanks

You're not asking a stupid question. And it's not TMI. Goddamnit, people depress me sometimes.
First: when did you have surgery? Have you done coke before, and is this typical? Had you had alcohol since your surgery?
Just based on the timing, I'd guess that you've got a stomach bug and that this isn't related to the drug use. Anyone vomiting for three days would feel ache in their stomach. Did you have a flu shot this year? Are you drinking a ton of Gatorade or Pedialyte to make up for the dehydration? If not, your symptoms are just going to feel worse.
Even if this reaction has nothing to do with the coke or booze, you know that introducing a rogue element into a healing system isn't a good idea, obviously, and you'll be more careful in future. Good.
Few things make me bristle with rage. Idiotic responses like this would be one of them. Her question was related to WLS, since she's concerned there's been an interaction between the drugs and the surgery. She's asking for help because she's worried. I am incredibly angry that your response was the first here, as it is worthless.

I had the bypass done because I regained 70lbs and couldn’t get it off. I went back to doing the same stuff I did before. I tried diets and diet pills and even worked out every day for months and nothing. I gained the weight because I never learned how to eat after I had the sleeve done. Also, I had some personal issues and regrettably decided to drown them with moscato. A lot of moscato. That accounted for the first 30lbs of regain. I started putting on weight and couldn’t figure out how or why because I was still eating so very little. Then one day it hit me like a ton of bricks that wine is nothing but sugar and I had drank my way around my sleeve. Then I felt hopeless. I quit the drinking but I still just kept gaining weight. I gave up again. And then I decided that I am not going to do that so I looked in to getting resleeved. After doing some research I found out that 20% of sleeves have to be revised so I decided to go for it. I had an appointment with my original surgeon who said he wanted to do an EGD to see what was going on. This whole time I still felt restriction. I only over ate a handful of times by accident and didn’t make terrible food decisions (not so great but nothing to justify that much gain - or so I thought but that’s another story) so there was really no logical reason for me to keep gaining. Anyway, he did the EGD to see that I had a hiatal hernia and very mild stretching at the top of my sleeve because of the hernia. He said the best way to repair that in a sleeve patient is a bypass. Then he told me about all the pros with a bypass. I’m sitting there thinking “Why didn’t you tell me this the first time!”. So I did it. I was afraid to because it’s so much more invasive than a sleeve but why do the same thing over again? Why not just go for what is proven to be more successful?
So here I am. It’s different this time. There is much more restriction than I had with the sleeve. I know that will subside a little after the honeymoon phase but I learned from my prior mistakes. And if I hit an emotional bump in the road I am going to see a therapist instead of the bottom of a bottle. I still hate myself for throwing it all away the first time but I’m slowly forgiving myself. It gets better with each pound I lose.

I just revised from sleeve to bypass 8 weeks ago. Like you I was afraid if the. Bypass. I got the sleeve early 2018 ended up with large hernia and gerd.
now that I have the bypass, I am very happy with it. As long as you keep up with having bloodwork checked, take your Vitamins and eat healthy, there is nothing to fear from the bypass.
you have to do this or deal with cancer. There is no other option.
Please make peace with it so that you can get healthy. You will be glad that you did it I once it is behind you. My only regret is that I did not start out with bypass and avoid having surgery twice.
hang in there and come here for support. Please keep us updated as well. You got this.

    Losingit2018 got a reaction from Khaleesi15 in Recurring Hunger (2 Weeks Post-Op)?
This is normal at this stage. We are not able to eat enough at each meal to keep us satisfied. I saw my dr at my 4 week mark and was told that I will feel like I am grazing at first.
Once the swelling goes down I will be able to eat just 3 meals per day and 2 healthy Snacks when needed. I feel that it is best to eat when truly hungry rather than let appetite get out of control and eat something I shouldn’t or eat too much.

I revised from sleeve to rny almost 9 weeks ago because of gerd.
I am just now starting to have pretty bad Hair loss so it does happen with each surgery.

I am not due to have Vitamin levels checked until next month. I keep up with taking Vitamins and if there are any deficiencies, I will correct them. I think that a person just has to stay on top of being checked so that nothing gets too far out of control.

I no longer have gerd and my hernia was repaired. So far the surgery has been well worth it.

I totally understand! That is exactly how I felt. I came very close to backing out of the revision and taking my chances with the ppis.
plus at the time of my initial surgery I almost switched to rny right up until surgery. My thoughts were that I did not want to have the surgery twice.
Don’t fear the bypass though. Just be sure to take Vitamins every single day. Keep up with having your bloodwork done and you should do just fine.

Here's the back detailing of the new blouse I spoke about earlier. Belt artisans from Etsy that I really liked were Dragos @ SoS Collections and Vladislava @ PLIKbrand. There is a wide variety to select from depending upon your tastes. OOTD is new black jeans and top for mother Smith's 85th birthday celebration today! She still enjoys wearing pretty lipstick and getting manicures. B-day posies to cheer up her apartment. She was a Naval nurse (24) stationed in San Diego when pregnant with her first son, my hubs. She hid it for as long as she could because back in those days (1959) when the head nurse learned one was with child... You were automatically discharged from duty as an officer! Incredulous! ;[ Really. I love all her fascinating stories including that one.

new top and skirt..... Can't wear this to work... a little too much for a Roofing company.... I really want to bring the top back.... I know it's silk.... but $140 for a top is just ridiculous... Had i known it was that much i would have never even put it on..... but he kept handing me stuff and i was just putting it on...
Would it be wrong of me to bring the top back and look for maybe a few cheaper tops?
