Right. You may not feel restriction but will most likely feel pain and nausea if you eat too much. Low and slow for sure

I used to see it the same way you did until I spent some time researching how challenging it is to function after WLS. Weight Watchers and the treadmill is NOTHING compared to this. Now I see it as being the hardest thing I will ever do to try and cure my obesity. I hope I'm strong enough.

I drank some premier and did fine. I also at 2 oz of Chobani and did fine with that. It is strange I don't feel anything but I suppose I wont until things heal up and I advance to solids.. It is messing with my head, lol

Having wls is not at all giving in. It takes courage and the strong desire to be healthy to put yourself through major surgery. We have all struggled with yo yo dieting. Losing the weight only to put it back in plus more.

This is not your fault. Some of it has to do with genetics. Plus once we put weight on our bodies reach a set point. It thinks this is the weight we are supposed to be so will literally fight us to get back to original weight.

it is great that you are already in therapy. A good bit of our food issues are in our heads. You will do well to get your head straight before surgery. The surgery is just a tool. There is still a lot of work to be done on our part to not only lose the weight but also to maintain.

hang in there. You got this and we are here to support you.

It was odd for me. I had no problem with premier with sleeve. I could not tolerate them after bypass at all. It was like they were too fizzy ( if that makes sense) and made me very nauseous. Hopefully you will be able to tolerate them well.

You are correct to take things slow. 7 months out and I am still finding food that I can’t tolerate but did fine with before bypass. Nothing quite like getting that sick feeling after eating something that does not agree with you. The first 2-3 months were hard when it came to finding foods that I could tolerate. It does get easier though.

another odd thing was that I could feel the mesh. It didn’t hurt but I knew it was there.

My suggestion would be if you do use Protein Bars, choose the ones that have more Protein than carbs. This is what my dr told me to do concerning most foods including protein bars and it has worked well. You may be able to take refrigerated items if you have a small cooler to take with you.

I am home, showered, and taking it easy. I am going to be on full liquids for 2 weeks. I am going to go slow as far as food and progression because I have read where quite a few by passers have problems with different stuff in the beginning. Hope that I can still drink premiere Protein Shakes and will be finding out within the hour.
Also I can already feel differences in the 2 surgeries. The sleeve had restriction from the start and I could not even drink but a few sips. This by pass is not like that at all I can drink with no problems. I just taking it slow though

I never had a drain with either surgery. I am familiar with them as I took care of my sisters drains after breast reduction surgery.
Did you get a diet to follow from your dr?

I’m headed for the same, revision and surgery, this coming Wednesday.
I think they’re repairing my hernia. It’s umbilical. With mesh I think they said.
I have a high tolerance for pain so I’m hoping I’m okay with it this time around. Two C Sections and a gastric sleeve, few other surgeries along the way too, I’ve been okay.
I’m worried this time around ... between the virus and this liquid diet. I feel horrible today. I hope it’s nothing and why I feel so off today.

Right. It just infuriates me that drs and hospitals will not manage pain very well after major surgery. It’s not only hard to deal with but it impedes healing.

Walking will help with the gas. You are doing good to do 3 laps! I didn’t have enough breath to barely make one lap after my revision. I am so sorry that you are in so much pain.
They did give me the injections in my stomach that kept my stomach numb and I think that helped a lot.
Hang in there. As you know from past experience it will get easier as you go.

That is the thing I also have high tolerance for pain. I have lumbar stenosis severe in left right l-5 and my neck. I do not take pain meds for this. When it gets real bad and I cant handle it I call the Doc and she gives me some hydro but I have only done that once and it was this year. I feel like if I could be at home I would feel better meditating ect and actually getting sleep. Tomorrow the sun comes out and I going home lol.

Had the revision done at 7 30 am this morning weighing in at 180 my original goal weight. The first 12 hours were horrible. This was a very painful surgery for me and I don't know if it was because they also took the hernia I had. ( I believe they said they took it and not fixed it but I am still on the drugs. ) I have been given morphine to start with then they switched me to dillata because the morphine wasn't cutting it. I am back on liquid hydro now. I wasn't able to urinate either for the first several hours and I am still having a hard time with it. I have been crying through most of the day. Pain, anxiety and lack of sleep have been my companions as they are still not letting visitors in. I cant tell if I still have GERD . The gas pain has been in my neck and shoulders it sucks. I did 3 laps around the ward at 1 am to see if it would help because I thought I had read it helps with the gas. Well I will keep updating my progress here. Good night

    Hope all is well
Here in Australia in my state we are starting to ease covid-19 restrictions opening some shops this week and cinemas and gyms and restaurants next month but still with social distancing and limits on numbers.
I've been well and everyone I know and love is well.
Anyway just want to summarise my journey for those who are new.
I started my weight loss journey 8.5 months ago at 322lbs and I had roux en y bypass 6.5 months ago.
From day one I chose to go cold turkey and cut out all the bad food sugar fat carbs and lived off Protein Shakes religiously for months.
By surgery day I was 257lbs and I've now technically been in maintenance a few weeks and this morning I'm 168lbs most days between 168/170lbs and have been that way for a few weeks; finally starting to feel good about myself that's a total of 154lbs gone.
Now when I look in the mirror I do not recognise myself anymore it's amazing to see how small I look now.
Everyone in my family is so happy for me because I spent half my life obese and unwell mentally not just physically but now my mental health is improving because I no longer dislike what I see in the mirror; is amazing how much my brain has changed now that I'm healthy and skinny.
I've only just started experimenting with food more than past 2 months and have relaxed in the carb counting/calorie counting but still quite aware of my daily intake.
i will admit I've had a few treats here and there in the past month but it literally has not affected me weight loss at all.. It's like I have a completely new metabolism..
I love coffee and I feel great mentally and physically and I cannot wait to meet a nice young lady who will appreciate me.
I'll be 36 in 11 weeks and I'm feeling better than I have in 20 years I personally think and feel like I'm going to be 26 hehehehehe
I've got a few photos to show you guys and I appreciate honest comments from the ladies
(it's not easy to take photos & get good angle of myself but I did my best)
    Thank you.
If you have any questions about my bypass or anything feel free to comment or PM.
Starting BMI 43.3 current BMI 22.7
    Love Mikey xx

I have hypothyroid and have had sleeve surgery. Had to revise to bypass because of severe GERD.

I have had much more success with the bypass although I did lose weight with the sleeve. If I had it to do all over again, I would go straight for bypass. Mostly because of the high rate of gerd among people that are sleeved. I also believe that the bypass is just a much better surgery as far as losing weight. It has been for me.

Hey everyone! Thanks for the positive comments. Just an update.... I've lost 5 pounds and I'm feeling positive about continuing this journey. Another 15 to go.

I have another radio frequency ablation therapy treatment this Friday, and I'm hoping this may be the last and hoping to be declared cancer free in the next couple months. 🙏🏼

Losingit2018 reacted to ladybug76 in Emergency Surgery - Adhesions & Intestinal Oclusion
Hello there! Got revisión to RNY from sleeve on november 28th 2019 due to GERD and hiatal hernia. Got gallbladder removal at the same time.

Got emergency surgery on May 3rd 2020 (10 days ago)

A day before I felt sick, sharp pain in my tummy that came and went from a 5 to solid 10.
Started vomiting at 5pm for a nonstop 12 hours period

Arrived dehydrated at hospital, got a CT scan and fortunately they were able to fix me on time, before Any complication presented, like removing intestine or staying in ICU

Adhesions covered my intestine at the jejunojejunal anastomosis (the spot where they stitch/unite 2 pieces of intestine) and so producing an intestinal oclusion.

I was so scared and in pain. Thank God I am now recovering at home.

Any one with similar experience out there?

I would love to hear on intestine rehab, what you ate after and how long did it take you to be yourself again

My best wishes to all journeys taking place all around the world. Be safe!

P.s. Excuse my writing. I am mexican (spanish native language) and obviously my english is so rusty

As a never-sleeve I can only imagine how strong the restriction with a sleeve might be. I went from MGB to RNY and I get uncomfortably full way faster now.
