I Am Groot got a reaction from bogglesauce in PLEASE HELP. I’m 2 weeks post op with very little weight loss.
    1. Give it time. You're only 2 weeks out. Also, there's a chance you'll lose no weight at all for a few weeks (search 3 week stall). Mentally prep for it, because if slow loss is bothering you now, the stall will be a mind ****.
    2. You started at a lower BMI, so naturally, your weight lost will be slower than someone who weighs more than you.
    3. Search the board for people who started out at a similar weight. Your experience is likely more normal than you think. You may need to reset your expectations about the process.

    Good luck on your journey.

I recently flew for the first time since surgery, which was 2 months ago. Last night, my first flight was delayed, so if course, it forced me to walk as fast as possible to catch my connecting flight. When I made it to the gate, I noticed I wasn't nearly as winded as I was when I had to do the same thing in January (or all of 2018). I also noticed that walking up inclines at the airport felt like a normal walk and not like a fight for life.

Although I didn't experience it, it's not abnormal. As a matter of fact, my nutritional guidelines state if you have problems with the next stage, then revert to the previous stage; however, if illness persists, call the office.

I Am Groot reacted to NancyLF in BUMMER! Disappointed & Sad
I am totally bummed. I was scheduled for VGS on Mon, June 17, 2019. However, as part of my clearance from my Primary Physician, I had to undergo a Nuclear Stress Test. Well, I failed. There was some slowing of blood flow in my heart. I have to undergo a Cardiac Catheterization on Wednesday. After that, the doctor will see if any further action is necessary if not, he’ll clear me for the VGS. I realize it’s better that this happened. After all, my surgeon would NOT want me to flatline while he’s stapling my stomach! It’s just so doggone disappointing. I was totally psyched up& ready for the big day. I was ready to start my new journey. Oh, well. This too shall pass.

I Am Groot reacted to TexasMommy80 in 14 months out - Just a quick update.
Hi everyone! I used to post on here pretty regularly, but I have not updated any of my information in a really long time. As of today, I am just about 14 months post VSG. I currently weight 173 pounds after starting at 241 pounds, My personal goal is to weight under 169, so that is my immediate goal right now. I have been stalled at around 176 for the past few months, but that stall was my own fault. I wasn't tracking my food and I was eating a lot of junk. When I start grazing, it is pretty amazing how quickly my calories can add up! The past few weeks I have really tried to pay attention to whether I was eating because I was hungry, or because I was bored, stressed, etc. Now since I am back to tracking, I have dropped 3 pounds, and I also feel so much better.
One of the things that I have really noticed is how I tend to eat more according to my emotions, and I have really made an effort to work on that. I have been trying to replace food with exercise, and I think that has helped tremendously. I played soccer in HS and college, so exercise has been a HUGE part of my life. I am not sure why I let that slip the past few months, but I did. So adding the stresses of my personal life and the grazing in the kitchen, it is easy to understand why my weight stayed at 176 for so long. And speaking of my personal life, y'all...it has been a sh*t show! LoL sorry for the language, but that is the best way to describe it. At the very end of October, my dad went to the doctor for a physical because he had been feeling tired. Two weeks later, he was gone. He had stage 4 liver cancer that had spread all over his body. Soon after he died, we found out that he had abnormal blood results for at least 2 years, and his primary care doctor never ordered additional testing. It was a hard pill to swallow. I have also had issues in my 6-year relationship, and I am at a point where I don't know how much more I can take. I have stayed for our daughter, but I feel so unappreciated. Perhaps that makes me selfish, but I feel like I am just "convenient" for my significant other, and that is the extent of our relationship. We basically live like roommates, we don't sleep in the same bed, nothing physical goes on between us, he hardly speaks to me...we have become roommates and we have been like this for more than a year. But I cook, clean, and take care of the kids...so I feel like he has no issues with the way we live. It just makes me sad, I am really struggling with it right now.
Anyhow, I hope everyone is doing well! I am so glad that I had the VSG. I am surprised at how much I am able to eat, yet I love that I am satisfied so with much less food. It was the best decision I could make!

Here's today's NSV... I have had clothes in sizes 16 - 24 in my closet for years and years. Today I was sick of having to dig through hanger after hanger to find something that fits.

This is mostly pants, skirts, and jeans. I pulled anything that was bigger than a size 18. My closet is much emptier now and I'm thrilled!

Hi Sberry, yea we are. Im 5'3", my pre surgery weight was 238 and I just weighted myself this morning and I am at 199.8. The weight loss has been moving slower as I had lost 22 pounds in the first 2 weeks after surgery. I am down a shirt size it fits a little big but comfortably, everybody is telling me to buy smaller but I dont like anything to hug my belly. And I am down from a 20 pants to a 16. This is a huge step because my belly has been my problem for a while so I wasnt able to buy normal jeans. I dont go back to the doctor until 6/5...hoping to lose another 5 lbs before then. Stay positive you are doing great!!!

Update had my 1 month checkup- weigh in on 5/16. I have lost another 3lbs since then and am at 201. That is a total of 37lbs from my starting weight. Just a couple more pounds to go to be out of the 200's for the first time in years. I just keep telling myself every lb. Lost is a step in the right direction.

Looks like I'm another slow loser as well. I had hope to be one who could boast about losing 60 lbs in 2 months, but nah. lol. I lost 6 lbs over the last month and 33 lbs altogether. I'll take it (... as if I have a choice 😉).
I'll kick cardio up a notch next month.

Do you feel you were given enough information on this procedure pre op and post op? Yes. I could have had more information had I attended the seminars and support groups pre-op. I did, however, perform tons of research and went into my surgical consult with lots of questions in mind.
Did they explain that you will still feel real and head hunger with any surgery procedure? Or tell you hunger will go away? My nutritionist explained "head hunger" and told me I would not feel real hunger immediately after surgery but couldn't give me an exact time frame as to when real hunger would return because it's different with everyone.
Did they give you clear instructions on how to work your plan? Yes, but not as clear as some. My plan is structured by weeks and under each week is a list of foods along with how much Protein and Water I should consume each day. By week 6, I have guidance on how many calories, carbs, protein and fat I could consume each day for long term weight loss. Some people's surgeons provided a day by day timeline, which I think is nice.
Was the psych evaluation just a hoop to jump through? Would you have benefited doing more therapy before surgery? My psych evaluation was a joke. It was computer based and.... honestly, I shouldn't even answer this question. lol.
Were your follow up appointments with your surgeons and dietician helpful? I've only had one follow-up so far, but it was quite helpful. I plan to meet with the nutritionist at least 3 more times over the next 9 months and will continue with the surgeon's follow-ups as required.
Did you understand that you can gain weight back? Did they help with a list of instructions and things to do and not to do? Yes, I fully understood weight regain is possible. Yes, they provided instructions on what to do and not do, which is the same instructions for weight loss pre-op. The difference is if I want to take full advantage of the tool, I have to do what it takes to permanently make a lifestyle change. This is my opportunity to make the changes stick this time.
If you had regain, did you contact your team and were they helpful? NA - I'm too new

** typos expected. I don't proof before hitting submit. lol
