april042019 got a reaction from KayLow42 in October Surgery Date and Getting Cold Feet...
Honestly if I were you I'd go on with the surgery and try to use their bad (maybe not bad but difficult) experiences as a lesson. Now you know if you were to have the surgery done you would have to keep up with your Iron supplements and monitor your levels! And you also know that to be successful after surgery you would have to learn how to change your lifestyle! These are great pieces of advice, I think.
I'm only about five months out and I haven't had any problems yet. I hope I never do. But I'm still always asking others about their experiences so I could know what to do and what to avoid. I don't regret my surgery at all I think it's the best thing I could've done for myself. I actually wish I had done it a lot earlier but at least I finally did get it.
You sound like you've been determined to have it done for the past few years. If you really want it I think you can definitely make it work for you!
These are just my opinions. It's up to you! ❤️

april042019 got a reaction from GreenTealael in So what are you unable to eat now?
I can't tolerate bread and anything with fat in it. I ate two bites of a grilled chicken wing the other day and went straight to the bathroom to vomit. I felt like hell for hours.
Bread makes me extremely uncomfortable for about 30-45 minutes after eating it but eventually goes away.
I had halo top ice cream and had no problems with it at all.
I guess it just depends on each person.
    Good luck!! ❤️

^I agree. I remember just a week or so after surgery I went to the grocery store with my mom and I saw a reallly good looking broccoli cheddar Soup and told my mom that I wish I could eat it but i can't ( I was still on Clear Liquids I think ). My mom went and picked up the soup and took it home for herself and just kept eating it in front of me. I knew it was my problem and that she shouldn't have to restrict herself in front of me but it just hurt me that she didn't care. So yeah it would be nice if you didn't do that.
Also this site is amazing so if you need to know anything you can always post and ask!
Good luck to you and your wife! ❤️

I'm not a huge ice cream fan but when I crave it I'll eat some halo top (I always keep some in the freezer). I don't like to restrict myself too much on certain foods because then I'll overeat something else to try to compensate for the disappointment. Lol my logic might be weird but it works for me.

    Hey guys!
Just wondering, how many calories do you eat a day (on average)? and how far out are you? Also, how many times a week do you workout and for how long?
I eat about 500 cals a day and work out 3 times a week ( I try to burn 800 cals every workout )

april042019 got a reaction from Ava R in Hungry after gastric sleeve?
I had the bypass and I do feel hungry lots of times. Even after surgery I was hungry a lot!
I never had any growling or gurgling so I don't know about that but I know I was hungry. I know some people say they lost their appetite after surgery but I can't help but wonder if they really did or if they just always had a smaller appetite than others.
    Anyway, good luck!

I don't know what you can do after the fact but if food's getting stuck in there then I think you should be chewing more. A LOT more.

I was told I might have blood in my stool after surgery but they never said anything about vomiting blood. I agree with @FluffySaysForkIt! you should definitely press your doctor till he gives you a satisfying explanation! Don't be afraid to seem annoying ( I used to always feel this way so I wouldn't ask as many questions ). It's your doctors job to tell you whats happening to you!

april042019 got a reaction from DennisW in Sleeve Next Week!
I feel you! I wish I hadn't told a lot of people. Still, this isn't about them or their opinions. It's about you and what you think it right for you. They don't know what you've been through or what your day to day struggles are. Even if they love you and mean well, they still don't know. So don't worry about what anyone else thinks. You are the one living your life right now and you're the only one who knows what it's like and what it needs.
    Good luck! ❤️

I've felt a small change in my voice but nothing like what you've mentioned. I think that when you lose a lot of weight your vocal system could become more fragile and maybe that's what you're experiencing. I still think you should maybe talk to your PCP about it just to make sure it's not anything else.

I think you'd have to take Vitamins with the sleeve as well. I might be wrong but that's what I've always heard.
I started off wanting the bypass. I knew it was more complex but to me surgery is surgery so if i'm already going to have one it might as well be the one I felt was right for me. I still stand with my decision to have the bypass so no regrets here!
I too was worried that I wouldn't be able to keep up with the vitamins. I never could before. But I think just knowing how serious this is and that I HAD to take them made me stay on top of them. I also downloaded an app called Medisafe and it's honestly so great it always reminds me when to take them so I never forget!
    Good luck! ❤️
