Just an update. I was 236 lbs in 7th grade. Went as high as 340 in early 20's. March of 2019 I was weighing 280. Started 2 week preop diet at 274. Surgery was 7-23-19 and now 6.5 months later I am 173lbs. Initial goal was 175 (5'7") but still have some more to lose so setting goal around 165 before I start trying to add some muscle back.
Stayed around 600 cal and 60g Protein for about 4.5 months then tried to up it around 800 and 100g protein, that seemed to work ok. Occasionally I'll hit 1000 but other days struggle to get 600. Very little hunger, just know when I NEED to eat. food just not that important to me anymore. Still foamies and throw up when I eat to fast. Very little I can't eat, haven't really tried breads or pastas though. Heartburn got bad had to start omeprazole again.
Helluva year, ruptured aortic aneurysm last January with aortic valve replacement, sleeve in july, vasectomy in December and new baby boy 12-31! Just wanted to offer a little encouragement to those considering this or new in the process. No regrets, sure sometimes I miss sitting down and gorging but I just try to remember what it felt like afterwards.
Lots of positives, clothes that fit right, chairs that seem to big, etc...sucked to get rid of perfectly good clothes that were never wore and by the time you try to wear something else, it's to big. Nice trade off I guess. Anyway, just my story. I'm almost 44 and wish I'd done this sooner. Just like everyone else I had my doubts before surgery but it was definitely a good choice.

That is excellent! I keep reading posts where we have been conditioned by what we should be losing based on what we see on television as well as comparing ourselves to others. It has been almost 3 months for me and I am down 40lbs. I had to accept that my body and metabolism is specific to me. Not to mention, when was the least time I lost 40lbs in 3 months....that would be never. Try to stay focused on the fact that you are definitely losing and getting healthier every day. I wish you the best. πŸ‘πŸ½

Eggs..can't eat scrambled eggs. Haven't tried fried yet. Was in such utter agony from both times I have tried eggs that it will be a DANG LONG LONG LONG LONG time before I try again.
I was amazed to see ppl posting that they could eat popcorn. Having not tried as I'm still only 6 weeks after post-op, I just think of how 'hard' popcorn feels to me...but I guess, well heck, it's a carb so does it...go all soft when it is in your pouch?? Not knocking anyone for eating a carb! I'm truly fascinated as I don't trust my picky pouch and am amazed that some folks can actually eat popcorn! So weird and amazing.
Was never a huge popcorn fan either and since I'm on mostly a very low carb way of eating, I probably won't try it but my curiosity has been peaked. Just like I'm still stunned that my 'Ms. Picky Pouch' has an issue with a dang scrambled egg!

Still on puree/soft...cant do eggs, salmon was so/so...still using shakes to meet goals...sometimes 1/4 cup food ok but others it's just doesn't seem worth it..definitely still learning and trying to figure this thing out. Still no energy..when did some of y'all start to get more energy? Getting about 70 g Protein and <600 cal.

Whoa...went offline in transit and this thread got real busy!
@FluffyChix I really hope you'll reconsider posting your menus, as I for one think any information is good information (plus the level of detail you always include in your posts speaks to my soul, lol...I have a feeling you too are a kindred spreadsheet addict, no?...but I digress...)
We are all adults on here and those who choose to read whats been thoughtfully shared on these boards have the common sense to take what information helps them and put aside the stuff that doesn't. I assume (as we all should, in my opinion) that the members on here are not babies that need to be coddled, but genuine people who are looking for support/help/camaraderie/information/TRUTH.
I always thought the intention of this particular thread was to share menus from as varied amount of people as possible, to show the diversity, right? From one extreme to the other and everything in between. The success of it, I think, would rely on the participation of many.
Yes, there are outliers on here, but they aren't the only ones. There are people out there who are like you, like kitty, like me, etc and from my own experience, it is very comforting to know they are there. The other day, I read a post in another thread from a poster who basically nailed down what I was feeling at a time I started feeling the doubt creep in again. It was amazingly comforting to read. No joke. Like tears to my eyes comforting. Some would say she is an outlier. I'm glad she posted.
So post your menus (and everything else that comes from that obviously jam packed brain of yours)! I really do think there are peeps out there who can relate, and for those that can't, it is still a fascinating read. Kinda like watching reality TV (which btw, I am closet addict of...)
    β™₯️
with that said, I'll write up what I ate today shortly...
