  1. I have tried both the GNC and Bariatric Advantage chews. Most people really DO love them but, for whatever reason, I can't stand either of them. I just ended up going with calcium citrate pills instead. They have a few advantages I like, at least for me. No taste(!), cheap, purchased about anywhere, and they don't melt in a hot car. (Ask me how I know this one... lol.) I do like that there are so many options out there for different tastes, though.

    PILLS??

Check with your Doctor. Each is a little different on the pill thing. Mine was crushable or liquids only for 6 weeks.

    Watching grass grow

All of the above is great advice. I also made a list of things I wanted to do, a kind of bucket list of things after weightloss, that were not possible/ fun at my highest weight. Even only 8 weeks out, I have already managed some and it is very motivating. I collected recipes that I knew would be bariatric friendly, too. I made a binder for them so they would be ready to go when I was. My family has since implemented a "new recipe" night every Saturday where we cook and test one out together. (Makes a great replacement for eating out.) Check out the Food Before and After thread link below for lots of pics of yummy healthy food people eat post op for some great inspiration. Food before/after Hang in there, you can make this time count for sure!

    Medication question from a newbie

It is possible you might not even have to/ need to take them post surgery. Every Doctor is different. Mine has his patients take them for 3 months after surgery as a protection for healing the new staple line and connections. That is the only reason, at this point, I am still taking them at all. I hope to have no issues once I wean off of it... we will see. I can tell you the relief from GERD has been really, really awesome for myself post bypass. Good luck to you in your journey!

    Medication question from a newbie

Not all meds come in liquid form, but SOME (Not extended release) can be crushed. Your Doctor should work with you to find the best method for each of your meds and alternatives, if needed. I stopped my B.P. meds the day I had surgery. Normal B.P. now. Gerd meds will be done in 3 more weeks, hopefully. CPAP- don't know yet. I will likely get a new sleep study before years end.

Am I eating too many POPSICLES???

I like them too. They are pretty yummy! I would be a little worried about eating that many a day for myself, though. The ones I have also have 15 cals per serving and 4g of carbs. At 12 a day that means 48g of carbs and 180 extra cals. I would blow past my carb limit pretty quick and I wanna chew (and chew) those extra 180 cals if I can. LOL! (EDIT: I don't count my own carbs net wise right now, just totals. See below for net carbs. Sorry for any confusion.) That said, only you know what is good for you and your journey. You are your best gauge, and YOU get to decide. If you feel like you are doing well, you are on your doctor's plan and feel good then no, it isn't too many. Congratulations on your weightloss, that is awesome!
  9. You could try freezing a protein shake into small popsicles or small little chips. Might help your throat and go down a bit easier. Hope you feel better!

    It feels like sabotage!!

Well, I might try killing it with kindness. Tell your Mom that you are so excited right now to be on the same journey she went on two years ago. Explain to her that she has been SUCH an inspiration to you, that HER weightloss has been very motivating and that you are proud of HER. Tell her how much you admire the choice(S) she made to get healthy, and that it helped you want to get there too. THEN flip the switch a bit and ask for her help. Tell her you need her support in this, not just for you but for her Granddaughter. Be honest and explain that these food items, while awesome and made with love, are just not good for you now. Ask if she will help you find healthy alternatives. Tell her you need her to put those awesome cooking skills to work in ways that will help you succeed. Maybe even ask if she will cook WITH you, if that is something you would like. Moms love to be needed, and nothing is better than helping your "baby". If she sees herself as your role model and has a way to help you it may work for you both. You get real support and healthy food. She gets to feel needed, admired and, if she is backsliding into bad food choices, a great reason to stay on a better path. 💙

How to choose a realistic goal weight

I am only about 7 weeks out, but I spent a hell of a lot of time thinking about this one.... My current goal is 170 pounds. (I am 5'8") I think I set my goal weight where I did for several reasons: 1. I lived at that weight, after losing the excess weight on my own through diet, for 5+ years a decade ago pre-surgery. I felt ok at that weight, at that time. 2. I think the old, fearing failure, "this #$*T will never work" me needs some security in setting a goal I can actually envision myself in right now. There is some comfort in knowing I CAN get there. Not sure my brain can handle the expectation of setting a lower goal yet. Kinda messed up, but honest. The fear of setting a goal I will possibly never achieve is really overwhelming, at least at this point in the game. 3. I look at this initial goal as a step, not a stop. Hopefully, as I become healthier in body, that fraidy, never gonna happen brain will start to catch up a little too. At that first goal met, I will see how/what I feel and adjust as needed. So grateful for this tool that allows me to dare for and dream of more, even if a little at a time....

    Easy recipes?

I have been using the Lekue steamer in my microwave a bunch lately. It is definitetly "one pot" cooking. I can cook fish, shrimp or chicken with some fresh veggies in under 4 minutes. (Can also cook with meats frozen solid- just takes a minute or two longer.) I Just season the meats/veg any way I like. (Lemon pepper etc.) It tastes so good and it never dries stuff out, so it is easier to eat. When done the whole thing is dishwasher safe, so no cleanup or fuss. LOVE IT!!! It looks like this pic and can be found on Amazon for about $24 for the 1-2 person size. I will try to post a link.... Lekue 1-2 person steamer

Getting a Revision - but OMG NOT because of weight regain!!!!

So, niether one of us really knows why those people posted in that way. Which is what I am getting at. Yes, I DID notice the "as if that would be" in your post. Which is a perfect example of an asumption on your part, since these people did not tell you this was their own reasoning. You were assuming THAT is why those individuals posted it in the thread in the first place. You then go even further to surmise that not only is that the reason for including the reflux detail, but that the person(s) must be doing it because the WLS community is not supportive enough of weight regain revisions. There may well be someone feeling the things you have assumed here- it is a big community with all kinds of people, after all. 💙 I just don't think filling in the blanks on someone else's story, to the point that you are not sure if you should feel "sad, pissed" etc. is a very evidence-based way to know one way or another.... and it is somewhat unfair to the original posters, IMO.

And just to be clear @summerset. I really am trying to understand how you got to your conclusions from there- no need for defensiveness. OR barking.... lol.

No, I read it in your post. You stated that you keep reading other people's posts as: Did these people tell you that is why they included that?
