Post op ladies who wear nail polish

Hi! I just do it myself. It is pretty easy and, once you get the hang of it, it goes quick. Usually lasts about 10 days to two weeks for me before outgrowth at the cuticle shows and I redo them. The kit I have is kinda pricey, though I have been using it for almost two years and I am in no danger of running out anytime soon. For myself, it has paid for itself many times over verses going to a salon. I linked it below just so you can see the components. What you really only need to start out (with any system) is: 1. A bonder. This just paints on your natural nail to remove any excess oil or moisture. 2. A base. This is what you paint thin on your nail, just as if you were applying color polish, before you dip it into the powder. (This step is usually done at least twice. Paint, dip, paint, dip... doing the whole hand one dip and then starting over with the first finger you dipped again for the second dip to give it some dry time in between.) 3. Dip powder mentioned above. There are a million shades of dip powder but, to start out with, all you really need is a clear or natural nail pinkish color. I tend to use clear almost exclusively because I like to paint my nails with polish on top of it anyway. 4. A sealer, or a top coat. (Applied after buffing/ filing and smoothing the nail, before color polish- if you are using it.) You will also want nail files and those sponge blocks with different grits to smooth out the nails after your 2nd powder dip before you top coat it. A good quality nail polish remover will help with removal when you are ready. I would pick up the stuff at some place like Sally's Beauty, just to try it and see if you like it, so you don't have to invest as much. That is probably all as clear as mud... LOL! I hope I made some sense. Starter kit Kiara Sky My nails, about 10 days after doing them. So not looking as good as they did fresh by any means, but not broken off either. I don't baby my nails at all in between, so they get some abuse. Sorry for the crappy pic! I would have done a fresh set before taking the pic, but am fighting a cold and just feeling lazy... Edit: After seeing the pic, I thought I better clarify that is silver glitter on my nails- not chipping or anything. Might be hard to tell!

Dip powder is my go to for nail care now as well. I Love it! It is pretty easy to do, and makes my nails super strong. I use Kiara Sky brand dips, but there are LOTS of others out there too.

    STALL :(

Yes, they do for sure. Don't let it freak you out- it is totally normal. It is your body adjusting to rapid weightloss. Expect and try to accept stalls as part of your process. (It's hard, I know!) It means you have lost enough weight that your body is taking a pause, but it is not a stopping place. When stalls do happen double check to make sure you are doing the basics like tracking calories, getting enough macros and water in etc. If those things are all on point, try to relax and know that this too shall pass... and you will be moving that scale number lower again before you know it.

    Fresh from surgery

Congrats on making it through surgery! I would double check with your Doctor about taking the Lisinopril. They may need to monitor & modify your dose post surgery as things can change pretty rapidly blood pressure wise- hopefully for the better. Good Luck to you!

    Tooth decay

This 100% I also think many people still think of the experiences of bariatric patients from a long time ago when people did not know at all that they needed to take vitamins to help avoid some of those issues. I have even met a few medical professionals (!) that are still entrenched in old ideas about dental outcomes based on ancient data and poor post surgery nutition routines. Kinda sad... Some bariatric patients will have tooth issues, some won't, and the variables in determining where one person falls are multitude. Teeth are not all created equal, bariatric patient or not. Some people will experience more issues than others simply due to what they started out with. The best a person can do is what any non- bariatric patient would do. Control the variables one can, (vitamins, checkups etc.) and get prompt care to deal with the rest. Try not to worry.

So happy to see you are feeling so much better now, and you look AMAZING! BTW- your selfies always look like the photos that come in new picture frames... you know, the ones that make ya wonder if maybe you should just hang it up that way instead of putting your own mediocre pic in it?

  16. I hope my post didn't come across wrong- by pointing to my own ticker and stats, I mean? I absolutely understand why you posted the question, and I sure didn't mean to imply in any way that you could get all your answers by just cruising through people's tickers instead. I am so sorry if it came across poorly! Was just too tired/lazy last night to risk a coma induced by some boring re-type on my end...
  17. Hi- Congrats on getting through the surgery! I am 48 - I had my RNY on June 3rd of this year. My stats are listed on the left and on my tickers below showing my own journey, so far. It won't be long and you will find your own progress becoming the greatest motivation of all. 💙 Good luck!!!

Day 1 of my preop diet......

Hang tough! The pre- op diet was honestly the worst part of the whole thing for me. You will be through it in no time. Good luck!

DO YOU THINK THE SURGERY WAS WORTH IT?

I would, for myself, do the surgery 10 times over again for the way I feel right now- but I haven't had the complications you have endured, either. I am so sorry you have had it so rough! I hope as time goes on things will settle down health wise for you and become much, much easier. Wishing health and happiness for you... 💙

Awe! Love this!!!! 💙 You look beautiful- congratulations!
  22. Hey, y'all So, I am set to get my gallbladder out shortly due to many stones and sludge. (Yippee...) Being 8 weeks out from my bypass surgery, I am just starting to really feel like I am getting a good handle on this new way of eating/ planning food as it is right now. For those of you who have had your gallbladders removed, what changes did you notice/ need to make in eating? Did those changes, if any, resolve over time? Any tips or tricks? Thanks in advance for sharing!

    where's the status update button?

Try going up to the bar at the top of the page, clik on Patients, and then on my surgery. It will take you to a new page where a list on the left will have some options such as my story etc. Hope that is what you were looking for and it helps.

    First consultation this week

@DaisyChainOz Excited for you and glad you have some good choices available! So great you don't have to deal with all the varied inurance hoops the USA has. Such a goofy healthcare system here, in my opinion.
