I had surgery 4/15. For the first few days, after laps at the hospital, I only got about 1800-2000 steps a day. It was a week out before I hit 3000, and now I’m over 5000 steps. I’m actually dedicating 2x’s a day to walk my block outside- which is 1/2 mile. My doctor expects 2 mile walks by 6 weeks out. Sounds like your doing fabulous. On 04/26/2019 at 12:40, naiad said:
How many steps is everyone getting? I’m post up day 3 and hitting about 3000 but I’m worried that’s not enough? I keep up every hours and walk around.Emilia DD reacted to this -
They would not do outpatient in Huntsville, AL. I would be leery of leaving that quick. On 04/24/2019 at 19:21, Friday205 said:
Anyone else have sleeve outpatient?

I like the grape or wild strawberry best, but beware CL has caffeine, so I’ve moved to the generic great value version at Walmart- No caffeine. I think there are also several sf syrups you can add for flavor, but I haven’t tried them yet.On 04/25/2019 at 13:18, naiad said:
What kind of crystal light do you mix with it? What a great idea!! -
I was told not to shave legs within 48 hours of surgery. Knicks are open wounds which could be infected by staph. It’s a precautionary method my hospital used. I also had to shower using dial and hibaclense twice. No wipes unless they did that after I was knocked out.

Ditto on most post. Initially it worked great! However it’s an upper, as such expect to be wired, nervous, on edge, easily angered and unable to sleep. It’s a short term solution to a lifestyle problem. If you can’t change your lifestyle weight comes back with a vengeance. I don’t recommend it.

Consider Protein Water. Premier Protein Water has 20g protein, but counts as water too. I have to add Crystal Light to cut the aftertaste, but it’s been a lifesaver for me.On 04/24/2019 at 21:22, TheFlinstones said:
@Tallymom @girlaccountant @LabGoddess @brownymix13 @OhMyGracious!
I hear all of you on the energy levels going up and down.
@girlaccountant I don’t know how you are surviving doing two jobs, that’s so incredibly hard and then dealing with energy levels and getting Water and Protein down.
I had my 2week post op appointment yesterday. I’m allowed to start purées but I have no idea how I will be able to eat 80g of Protein via purées and shakes I feel like I’m eating all day. I got quite overwhelmed yesterday and a little this morning that I can quite easily just skip eating (purely because of how annoying the process of it is taking, NOT because I’m trying to avoid eating from a dieting sense - I know that’s not an option and also doesn’t work)
When I feel low on energy I also get a sweaty thing happen, like a shot of adrenaline that seems to freak me out and then I need to lay down.
I’ve also been sick now for a few days and that is taking a toll also - not sleeping well, coughing and blocked sinus etc. (I was also sick the week before surgery same thing)
Trying my best to remind myself that it’s all small steps, you don’t have to be perfect, do what you can.
Aside from all that I’m happy with how it’s going it’s and been so far. I do feel nervous that I won’t lose weight this week, which really shouldn’t be my worry. Focus more on health an nutrition, however clearly I want to know this works.
So clearly I’m happy, tired, a little apprehensive and some positivity.
I feel like such a fool for being so many things at once.
I’m grateful to read others experience to know we’re going through similar circumstances.
Much love and happiness to everyone.TheFlinstones reacted to this -
I said this yesterday! I need savory items. Everything I drink taste sweet- Protein Shakes, Jello, Popsicles, Protein Water. I’m so tired of chicken broth and veggie broth. I’ve branched our a little to cream soups... but I want eggs!On 04/22/2019 at 21:51, undeadDharma said:
I had my sleeve on 4/8 and I’m right there with you. Never thought I’d kill to eat an egg. -
How are our Completed surgery- April buddies doing now? I’d love some post surgery updates!

I think it’s just the flavors I prefer... wild strawberry, grape and orange. I’ve previously had reflux and the lemonades scare me. I’m not a big tea drinker, so I’m loving these other options and recommendations. On 04/24/2019 at 08:07, MIZ60 said:
I just looked in the pantry and none of my Crystal Light (powder sleeves) or Mio drops has caffeine. I am going to try the stevia drops posted by Healthy-life2 if I can find them. Trying to drink more plain Water too. My sleeve seems to resist the plain Water to a certain extent and I am not sure why...

How are y’all doing otherwise? I have one incision and spot that is still quite sore. Otherwise no pain. A little tired, but doing well and weight loss has been good so far.

I just liquified this recipe. I’m on full liquids and don’t want anything else sweet. I am in need of savory and cant stand chicken broth any longer. I left out the bacon, curry and red pepper flakes, and added unflavored Protein Powder. It was an awesome liquid dinner!

My doc recommended chewable GasX. It was a lifesaver! I’m 8 days post op. Surgery- 4/15/19.
I took max amount daily for first 5 days. Now just when discomfort hits! I’d love to hear more from y’all. I’m on full liquids now. -
I wasn’t allowed anything but Clear Liquids for a week. My surgery was 4/15. Sorry your having a rough time of it.

I am one week out today. I’ve lost 5 pounds and 8.5 inches. Consider measuring yourself because scales are not the only indication of success. Find non-scale victories to help remind you that you are successful. Almost a pound a day is amazing. Think about your highest weight, pre-op diet weight, surgery day weight to now. Proud of you!

So, I’m having trouble locating non-caffeine based crystal light. Any one have other drink mix solutions? I only use them to cut the taste of Premier Protein Water, but why oh why does everything have caffeine?

My dr recommended gasx chewable. Some of the gas is from the surgery. It goes away after a few days. I’m Day 7 post op. If I gulp, it hurts. Really have to pace myself and sip, sip, sip.

My surgeon, recommended Celebrate Calcium 500mg, two a day, Celebrate Multivitamin, two a day, B12, and Biotin for hair. Cannot take more than 500 mg at one time. Should be alternated one Vitamin at a time at least two hours apart. I’ve been on my pre-op diet and vitamin regimen since 3/31/19. Good luck!

Congrats! I’m fairly new here too. I start pre-op diet next week. At the beach for baseball this week. Trying to not gain any weight! Packed my Protein Shakes.

The hospital I used is known for their WL program. They have a give and take store. You drop off what you can’t wear and pick up what you can. No charge. I am only two weeks out, but I can’t wait to participate in the program.
