I feel the same way. First it was like April 9th would never get here, and now..... 😬. I can’t believe we are almost there! Best of luck to you and everyone else this month and on this journey.

There was a good recipe for hummus in the book that came with my ninja. I am looking forward to trying that!

Sorry guys, I am the OP and I tried deleting the gofund me comment but it wouldn’t let me do so. I don’t think this is the appropriate place for that.

That aside, I leave tomorrow for a Thursday surgery and I am so excited to get my new life started!!
Best of luck on your surgery and safe travels!

Thank you all, I will get this out of the way first thing in the morning and pray that the test is enough to get that clearance that I desperately need. Hopefully she will tell me when I wake up.

Good luck today! I hope it all goes smoothly and you walk out knowing you have clearance!!!!

@Romanoloser we have the same date of 4/9, can you tell me what day you start your liquid diet please.. Or anyone else on the same day. Just curious if the didn't put the correct date:) Thank you all

I am on the same date, but sorry I can’t help. My surgeon doesn’t require it.  Just the day before surgery. Can you believe we are only 2 weeks out?  I’m starting to get more and more nervous.

I am only 20 min from the hospital and I am hoping for an early appointment because I am so nervous. I have never had surgery before so the actual anesthesia is scaring the daylights out of me. The after I’m really not worried about.
Hoping for an early surgery for you as well. I’ve had a few where I’ve been put under. You will be fine. Don’t let it scare you.

I will definitely do the same. My time is 7:30. I’m happy I am first that morning but omg having to be there at 5:30 shew!! I’m normally at work at 6 so this gonna be fun:)

You’ve got this! No problems. Now we are just on the countdown. Less than a month to go. I’m happy that I am first thing in the am as well. I live just over an hour from the center/hospital, so there is always that when I have to be there bright and early. 😂. Oh well...small price to pay.

Would you let other people influence your decision on how to treat a complicated medical problem such as cancer or renal disease without a medical degree? No?

Obesity is a disease that is complex to treat and a bystanders opinion is of little value when it comes to your health. You need to decide what’s best for you.

I am having the surgery. I have talked about it extensively with my husband and I want to be around for my kiddos.

  10. I am scheduled to have VSG on April 9th. I have been second guessing my decision. My BMI is just over 35 and I am about 75 lbs overweight. I have had multiple comments from people saying "you aren't even that heavy, will they do it?" or "you aren't 100 lbs overweight, why would you do it?" I have high cholesterol, but am not on meds for it. My biggest issue is I have OA of my hip. It makes it extremely difficult to exercise because it hurts so bad. Since I am 44, no one wants to touch my hip until I am closer to 60. I know the weight has made it worse because I didn't have all the pain until I got pregnant with my son 3 years ago.

I am now second guessing the surgery again because I am letting people's judgemental tones and comments get to me.

I want to have this done to help me get started on my weight loss journey so I can be healthier for myself and my children.

Thanks for listening... Am I doing the right or wrong thing with the surgery????

So I had a nutri bullet before surgery and killed it pretty easily with making smoothies. The ice burned the motor out.

I picked up a ninja blender on Black Friday two years ago and it worked like a champ for me post-op. I still use it for the occasional Protein Shake when I’ve got a sweets craving.

I don’t think I’d buy a super pricey blender just for the purées stage. It’s such a short period of time!
Thank you! I actually ordered the ninja yesterday on Amazon since I still had about $30 left on a gift card. With a 3 y/o and a 13 y/o, I figure I can make plenty of smoothies and shakes. 😊

I have all sorts of gadgets (some of which are pretty costly), but I'll be honest. The only one I used in my post-op period was my stick blender.

I used the stick blender to blend fruit into my Protein Shakes. That's it, really. When I was on pureed, I stuck with stuff that was naturally pureed like refried Beans, cottage cheese, soft scrambled eggs, etc.

I wouldn't invest a whole lot into gadgets unless you plan on using them for life or as a normal part of your daily diet.

Thanks for the input! I appreciate it.

I bought the nutri ninja 1000 watt. That thing would grind masonry, I think. I bought it because my whole family drinks smoothies, but going into this I didn't like the $20 Oster smoothie maker we had because things like pineapple and other fibrous fruits had an awful texture. Enter the Nutri Ninja and it will turn anything into smooth liquid. Only issue is the price point, it's like $75 on Amazon and $100 at Kohls before coupons.

Thank you! I appreciate the input!

I didn't actually use my blender to puree anything except chicken salad one time and meh- i could have lived w/out that. I just ate a lot of yogurt, cottage cheese, ricotta bake, things like that. If you are not on your puree stage a long time, I wouldn't buy anything if you don't think you will use it in the future. That being said, I have the ninja, it has a few different attachments and I use it sometimes for shakes...but not much else.

Thanks for the input. I was thinking that I would use it for smoothies and shakes too. Other than that, not sure how much I would use it.
