I would suggest clean salads with a Protein source for hunger control (you can eat a lot of salad for very little cals) & B Vitamins (especially B12) for energy
    Good Luck ❤

My weight loss tends to slow with periods of stall and then loss but it seems to average out ok. I have metabolic disorders, adult onset congenital adrenal hyperplasia, pcos, endometriosis and other medical conditions that effect my metabolism.
i am 44 my height is 5’ and my starting BMI was 40 (around 208lb) I had surgery April 29th 2019 and as of today my weight loss is about 62lbs according to my home scale.
Rate of loss depends on medical conditions, starting weight, and other factors. Because my metabolism barely functions and I have glucose intolerance my daily calories tends to be low and I don’t consume more than 50-60 grams of Protein per day since protein that isn’t utilized converts to glucose. I also cannot exercise due to chronic illness and disability.
My nutritionist thinks my rate of loss is going good. So I trust her judgement. I weigh myself daily and track my calories and protein daily as well to try to determine if a certain food is causing stall more than another. Or if I am meeting my needs. As well as to note any issues that come up with foods I’m eating our how I feel (symptoms) I don’t use a special app. I just have a notepad on my tablet.
Considering you just had your surgery only October 1st and lost 28lbs you are doing great.

Appreciate everyone's response. I love looking at tickers and stats but they don't show age or gender and at 48 I wanted to hear some folks in my age group. Thank you!!!!!

63 years old here. RNY Feb 2019. Reached goal between 6-7 months, with loss of 110 lbs. I am 5'6". I exercise a lot - walking/hiking, weights, stairs, legs, biking, swimming. Just completed a triathlon which was an amazing experience and unthinkable 8 months ago. My advice is to get a step tracker and start walking right away, even while in the hospital. I was up to 10,000 steps by day 7, and just kept adding little exercise routines along the way. A step tracker is very motivating and keeps one accountable. I log my exercise along with my food.

Hi, there! I'm 57 and had my RNY on March 27, 2019. I am 5' 3.5" and started at about 230 or so. High weight was 246. I'm now 158. I recently increased my calories and the weight loss accelerated. Go figure! I was eating no more than 800 calories for months. I know you didn't ask about calories, but wanted to motivate you to eat more when you can. Congratulations on your surgery and best to you!!!

I have been very depressed since I broke my ankle 2 weeks ago. 6 weeks of no weight on it was a devastating blow. I have been sitting here in a funk binge watching my 600lb life.
For the last 2 weeks I just kept thinking OMG I am going to stall sooo bad. My hubby kept encouraging me to get on the scale to keep up with my progress, so today I got past the fear of gain and HOLY CRAP 199 with my splint!!
I also bet another goal I finally weigh less than my hubby!!
This was the boost I needed today as they took my staples out and confirmed a month more of no weight on my ankle. Thankfully I'm not really capable of snacking or the last 2 weeks would have been horrible.

I have no fixed opinion about this issue - I'm just interested to hear other people's views and approaches.
I've got to the point where my BMI is about 27/28ish and I've lost oodles of weight. I've only lost a pound in the last 7 weeks or so, but I have lost inches, so I'm not too worried. However, I think my weight loss is beginning to 'bottom out'.
Ideally, I should lose another 14-20lbs, and to this end, I was thinking of using a ketogenic diet for a few weeks. However, I've had some conversations with medical types about it recently (a retired doctor who's a friend, a bariatric nurse and the nurse at the local GP's surgery). They all said slightly different things, but the common threads of what they said were:
If reaching the BMI-25-target is important to you, then by all means try! The final pounds of weight loss are difficult and - because of the type of severe restrictions needed to get there - are not often sustainable. The differences in health benefits between a BMI of 27ish and 25 are negligible. Ketogenic diets are not really recommended long-term for bariatric patients. I might still lose more weight using a balanced diet (with small portions) and although it would take longer, it would be more sustainable. From my own point of view, I had stopped thinking about food so often and I felt that this diminished importance of food in my mind was good for my mental health. There's a risk that if I go back to a diet with 'forbidden foods', I may start thinking about it too much again (which - for me - would be counter-productive).
However, I know that some of you guys have achieved (and surpassed) that magical BMI of 25. How did you do it? Did you have to adopt a different strategy for the last few pounds, or did you just keep on plugging with the good habits you had learnt?
As I said, I'm not here to pre-judge; different things work for different people...I'm just interested in hearing about a range of strategies that work.

I have moved my way from morbidly obese to obese, and now, 🥁 overweight!!! I can hardly believe it, but am so elated at this point! Not only under 300 lbs, 250, 200, and now 190!!! I celebrated last weekend by jogging my first 5km marathon! I can’t wait to cut my time for this, however, am also working towards 10 Kms ~ I was able to do 8 kms last week! Still can’t believe this! We’ve got this!!!

I weigh myself every day but my dietititian would prefer I do it once a week (she said I get too obsessed with the number on the scale). However, in the past the weight always crept back on if I stopped weighing myself. Before I knew it, I'd be up 20 or 30 or 40 lbs. So maybe cut back on the frequency - but I wouldn't stop weighing altogether. But I am me and you are you...
with plastic surgery, don't forget that many people have a 10-20 lb bounce back after they hit their lowest weight. Your plastic surgery work can be affected if you gain or lose more than 10 lbs, so many surgeons recommend you be at a stable weight for 6-12 months before doing it. I've gained 12 lbs since I hit bottom (and have come to terms with my higher weight - I'm still within a normal BMI range and admittedly look better at this weight). So I'm glad I waited - although maybe 12 lbs wouldn't have made much difference...

140 is just a number. Like the others have said, go with how you feel.
I’m also a daily weigher...as I like to keep an eye on things, but that’s just me. If the weighing is giving you stress/anxiety , step back a little.
    You have done phenomenally!

Wow. My plastics guy said I have to be at my stable weight for 6 months before I can even discuss it with him? Congrats on your schedule! We want piccys!!! I would personally just want to get to my forever goal before adding that kind of pressure on myself, cuz maintenance is gonna be hard enough. You know? ((hugs))

What are you thinking of for the Plastic Surgery? I had a Tummy Tuck a year after my sleeve in 1999. I hoping I didnt do to much damage! I think you are stressing to much on the number, rather than how you feel. You are doing fantastic!

Try not to let your upcoming plastic surgery dictate what you "should" weigh. You have done so amazing. Its been great to see how you progressed. Give yourself credit for where you are at this moment. Never forget how you felt at 286. Weight loss still happens after plastics and years out. Stalls suck. The scale will move again.
I understand your frustration. You are building muscle so be kind to yourself when you step on the scale. It’s a personal choice in how much you want weigh. If the scale is affecting your mood, weigh yourself less. The goal is healthy not chasing the number on the scale.
I want plastics photos! *smile* I'm excited for you.

I think you have to work out what makes YOU feel in control. And anything else is either rationalization, or giving in to other people's or "right". LOL. I'd be nuts without daily accountability. i'd much rather "eat super duper spiffy today" to take off 1-2lbs scale bounce of Water, than not weigh for 1/2 week and have to deal with 5lbs. (yes it happens).
So I'm a daily weigher and damn proud of it. hehe

I keep my eye on the scale weekly. Its probably unnecessary at this point in my journey, but I want to keep in the habit of doing it because when I was preop and ignored the scale that's when 10-20 pounds always snuck up on me.
