13 months post op. This saved my life. Everyone asks me if I would do it again. And I would !! It's hard. It's not a magic pill. You have to be ready for a life change. Not just something that will shrink your stomach so you can't eat as much. It's only a tool. As long as you go into it like that, I believe you will be successful. I am 170 lbs down in 13 months and it is life changing.

Hi all, quick update, I am close to my 10th month post-op.

I was VSG’d 03/10/17, HW: 405, SW: 385, CW: 230. My goal weight is 190.. It is very hard to shed last 40 lbs, it seems to be attached to my body LOL.. I am very thankful to this process; it is definitely a great tool. However, it is 50/50 we need to engage the other 50% and battle every day with our old bad habits. I am satisfied with my weight loss, but really wanted to lose more weight by now, I hit stalls 3 times, and they last for weeks.. I don’t even look at the scale, now is my enemy (LOL) , instead I rely on clothing and noticed I am losing size… I increased my workouts the last 4 months, I do 4-5 times a week (1.5-2 hrs), I split weight training and HIIT. Now I am working really hard on core workouts.. I hope I can meet my goal by March 1st,
PS: pardon quality of photos.. as header says (quick update)
haring this few photos for now… Will post more in March and I hope I can see a difference. You always friend Carlos….

    From 356 to 207lbs.

Who is a happy boy? That would be me. Best decision I've made in my life. Healthier, more confident, better family and social life. Thumbs up all around from moi.
Loose skin, hell yeah, does it bother me, not really. It's part of the package.

Love y'all, sorry I have not been around a while. I have a life now

The incredible world of thrift stores. Went from a size 46 waist to a 34. Shirt size from 3XL or 18.5 neck to 15.5 neck or L in dress shirts. Will not spend over $3-$5 per item. Having a blast finding great items that fit. Always felt guilty going to big and tall just to overpay for khaki expandable pants. Love getting my wife's attention each morning I walk out the door for work. Only regret, I did not get the sleeve sooner. Gained all my weight from 25-44. Almost made it to 300lbs. Ugh...Now back to 185. You can do this too!!!

I was sleeved 10/16/17 with a highest weight of 347, surgery weight of 283. This morning I weighed 174.2! What a year it has been. Ups and downs, struggles and successes, and figuring out the new me. I was a 3xl shirt and 44" waist, and am now wearing a Large slim fit shirt and 32" pants. Life is much more enjoyable with my new found energy, ability to move around, and to squeeze through places I never thought of before. The year has flown by pretty quickly, and I am so happy to have made the decision to go forward with surgery.

I had gastric bypass w/ gallbladder removal and hiatus hernia repair on June 19th, 2017. I will be traveling the next two weeks and won’t be able to post pics so I didn’t then today.
    Surgery weight 276
    Current weight 149

The moment I was able to get out of the hospital bed I started walking and literally haven’t stopped. I was able to start running about 3 months after surgery. I have gone more than 2 days without being active. I run about 30 miles a week and do Orangetheory. I took 6 pills a day for my reflux (had been on them since 8 years old), blood pressure and cholesterol medicine. I walked out of Tampa General and haven’t had to take one single pill. My blood pressure is very normal, resting HR is that of a runner and my cholesterol went from 320 to 149 in 4 months.
This was the absolute best thing I’ve ever done. I’m so thankful for this surgery.
Now I just need to save up money for lower body lift. The doctor said I have at least 10 pounds of skin to be removed!

Before and after. Couple close coaching friends getting ready to do the same thing. Very fortunate that I had good insurance. Had to do the 6 month wait (visit and class once a month) but it was worth it. I was a walking heart attack waiting to happen on Friday nights in the fall. So much energy and adrenaline go into a Friday night.

So I've reached my first goal. I didn't really have a number on the scale in mind, but a jeans size in mind. I want to be at a size 8 and can finally now fit in them. I'm only 4 months out and hope to still lose some weight because of the statistics of people who regain a little. I want to lose more so I when my weight settles, it settles at the weight I'm at now and not 10lbs and a jean size higher. I love my new body and vow to take better care of it from now on so I don't go back!

A year ago, I was getting ready for gastric sleeve surgery. I was tired, fat and unhealthy. I had high blood pressure, high cholesterol and was in insulin dependent diabetic. I was on antidepressants.
January 9, 2018 was the day my life changed. And now I’m LIVING!
i work out 5-6 days per week, I love kickboxing! I’m down nearly 100 lbs and I feel younger than ever. I’m off all medication and according to my lab work, I’m a whole new woman.
For those of you who are considered sugery, DO IT! Be ready to change everything about your current life. My biggest obstacle has been my brain. Changing the way I think about life. About food. About who i have in my life.
I found my life. My value. Find yours!!

Through trial & error, I have hit a point where maintenance just feels normal. My eating habits are so ingrained that I'd actually have to TRY to regain. NEVER thought I'd say THAT!
My sleeve was 1/23/12 and I was 275. Within 9 months I was at goal, had tt/panni 10/2013. Maintenance was a very thin tight-rope. I was following the plan, high Protein, low fat, almost no carbs. It worked but 1 tiny splurge and I'd be up a pound or so. I hovered around 120-125. Which is great, but it was taking so much vigilance.
About a year ago, I noticed that when I ate my favorite ribs from a local BBQ place, my weight dropped. Calories didn't seem to matter??
After noticing this pattern for a bit, I began experimenting with other fatty foods. Olive oil, butter, real cheese, eggs, Mayonnaise, avocados, burgers (sans bun) When I eat these foods, I get full quickly and have no hunger for HOURS! Fat at Breakfast is important for me as then I naturally eat less throughout the day.
I eat whatever I want, stop at the 1st sign of full, only eat when PHYSICALLY hungry. I splurge once a month or so (really, that's all I desire as I am very satisfied with my eating) When I DO splurge on pizza, bagel, dessert, etc... I THOROUGHLY enjoy the F#*K out of it!
Now, I eat what I want, enjoy what I eat, no cravings, no weighing or measuring, no counting calories & no stress maintenance. My desires to binge eat have been gone for a long time. Surprisingly my cholesterol is NORMAL, I feel great and my weight hovers between 116-117. Now I (FINALLY) can eat to live not live to eat!
I'm very happy that I've found what works for me, I would love to understand WHY?

Well, folks, I had my RNY in July, 2014. I started at 302 pounds. I finally, finally, FINALLY, F I N A L L Y!!!, hit onederland this morning!!! I stalled out 2 years ago at around 205, and never lost another ounce. Bounced between 205 and 215, and just got fed up. Went back on my post-RNY regimen around Thanksgiving, and this morning was 199.8!!!!! I cannot believe it!! I never thought I’d see the scale dip below 200.

4.5 years, but, if you work at it, and just stick to the program, it will work!!!

    *hugs for everyone!!!!*

Wanted to share some 8 month progress pics. I am a former college football player turned desk jobber that really lost my way. I decided to be sleeved after going to doc and BP was scary high. Father had heart attack in early 40’s and I was on track to beat him. Wanted to be around for my kids. Started at 6’2, 360lbs. Initial goal weight of 200lb Currently at 220, but really beginning to like what I see in the mirror. Fell in love with the gym. I know I’m in the honeymoon period (8 months in) but this has really given me a new lease on life.

I would love to see great stories on how you feel today after years from your surgery! My name is Char and I had my surgery 2015, I started at 230 lbs and I am currently around 160-170lbs. I can say that I feel so great with how my health improved, my self confidence, my love to myself and the people who surrounds me with positive outlook in my journey. Sure, there are frustrations in my journey but it is all part of the process! Being where I am today made me a better and stronger person... I don’t think I could have not done it if it wasn’t for my children!

In 2 days it’ll be one year since my sleeve. This morning I was a few ounces below 200. It was a great feeling, I have not weighed that since I was 18.

This past year was full of changes and looking back I just wanted to say thank you to all of you on here who post and/or reply. This site has been a great tool full of information as well as a place where people relate to what I am going through and I them. I’ve read some inspirational posts as well as those of heartache and funny ones as well. I will continue my journey, taking what I have learned from here and keep moving forward.

A big thank you again to the BariatricPal family, you all rock.

There will be loose skin bc of how rapid the weight loss is. Start exercising and weight training as soon as you get cleared to. Also, lotion lotion lotion. Keep your skin moisturized. Other than that the rest is genetics...some people have great elasticity and others not. My skin is loose but I didn’t weight train right away...wish I did. I am now. I’m 44 as well. But ill take the loose skin over how big I got any day!!

This distance out with pus as opposed to lymph (the completely clear stuff) I would go to my doctor, especially if the area round the incision feels warmer than surrounding skin and/or you have a temperature of 38 degrees or more.

Regardless make sure you’re drinking you recommended amount or as close as poss. Can’t but help no matter what and like the lovely lady said there’s still lots of healing going on.
