  1. I never eat sugar or cereal but I dump daily on regular food. Doesn’t matter what it is...I still dump. My dumping consists of being nauseous, and sleepy. It usually lasts for half hour to 45 min and then I’m new again. I tried Keto frozen yogurt (only had 1/4 cup) and dumped big time that lasted hour plus. I guess this dumping keeps me in check...I don’t know.

  2. Thanks for sharing your story Tracy. Sounds like all is well and you’re learning your new tummy and digestive system. All is well here also. I’m down to 189 and getting my strength back. Worst issue for me is dumping and stomach aches...going to get checked for ulcer to rule it out. Let’s stay in touch.

  3. I dump if I overeat usually or eat something my body doesn’t like. I dumped real bad the other day in an Adkins bar...several weeks ago so dumped real bad on a Glucerna shake. Both have no sugar, no carbs so not sure why I dumped so bad... made sure to try them twice in case it was a fluke. I think there’s some type of chemical or ingredient Incant tolerate. We’re going to compare and see. I only dump for about 30-45 minutes then I’m ok again but it’s awful. I can’t vomit so I just take it. 🤢

  4. Tracy,

My goal weight is 175. I gained a few pounds and I’m up to 206 from 199 which is so weird because I’m eating about 600 calories only a day. I think it must be Water so I’ll see what happens next week. I still get sick when I eat...I literally just got done dumping a few minutes ago...it was terrible!!!🤢 I ate a handful of pretzels (mini ones). ...never again! I can’t vomit so I just drool and pray for it to pass. My left lung is still at 60% and I’m still wobbly on my feet but I’m healing. Xo

  5. Hi Tracy,

sorry to hear about the Gerd. Bypass is supposed to fix that so I’m concerned for you.
my Gerd is gone completely but I still get nauseous after I eat food...it’s better than it was a few months ago but still there. My weight loss is very slow. I’m 203 and started at 264 (bypass July 18 2020. One would think that after 3 months in and out of hospital (not bypass related), I would have lost much more, but it’s ok, I’m in no rush. I hope you’ll see your doctor regarding f the Gerd. The meds are not good for your pouch long term. Xo

  6. Hello,

I had severe gerd due to hiatel hernia (stomach was 4 inches into chest cavity), and stomach polups. I hd no other choice but to have bypass. I don’t have Gerd anymore, but occasionally I feel a burning in my stomach when I need to eat. I hate this surgery!! I’m miserable and nauseous all the time and I feel very sad I can’t enjoy food anymore. it’s quite depressing.

  7. Hello,

I’m nearly six months post RNY. I’ve had a rough road because my surgeon nicked my spleen during bypass so I’ve been better. Everything I eat makes me sick. I eat clean, slow, and small portions. I’m quite depressed because I do want to eat. Protein Shakes don’t make me sick, but doc said if I don’t eat solids he will put me on feeding tube. Reversal of bypass not possible since 80 % removed due to mass and small tumors. Has anyone else experienced nausea after eating for this long?

Thank you all! Trying to stay encouraged. Will hit 30 days tomorrow and down 11 pounds. Thankfully, no complications and healed perfectly. Weight day of surgery was 282. After surgery, 290 (water/fluid weight). My weight fluctuated between 273-272 for about 11 days and now I’ve been fluctuating between 271-270 for a few days. I’ve increased my Water and calories as my nutritionist insist I’m not eating enough. I agree with her. I Put the scale up and will revisit my numbers next Sunday😢

We are similar. I had surgery 7-18-20. Weight 264, 2 days later released from hospital and weighed 275. It’s been a month and I’ve only lost 10 lbs from surgery weight. No cheAting very strict but not too much exercise due to rough surgery . I’m older at 55 so perhaps that’s reason.

  9. Doing ok. Still on mostly liquids. It’ll be four weeks on the 18th. I’ve only lost 10 lbs since surgery which is not as I hoped but I’m sure it’ll pick up once I move around more. I’m still sore and I can’t move around more than 10 minutes. I get winded and get side pain. Praying I’m better before the wedding on 9-19. My gown is a size 20 and I’m hoping I’ll be in an 18 or less in a month...my tailor is standing by...he’s cheering for me too haha.

    Hi there.

I have a significant hiatal hernia, it causes a lot of pain and discomfort any time that I eat. I had an endoscopy to rule out infection or strangulation of the stomach. Anyway, the findings were that it’s likely that I have nerve damage in my hiatal hernia area and diaphragm.

I have a telemedicine appointment with my bariatric surgeon on Monday, it’s my first consultation. My insurance “requires” 6 months of nutrition education before they will sign off on the surgery. I’m not asking to do it in 2 weeks, or even a month. I’m just curious if anyone out there has been able to petition their insurance with the help of a physician to shorten that time frame. I’m aware that I’ll need to do the work before the surgery, but my concern is being in this pain for 6 months. I can do maybe 2-3 months.

Anyway, if you have been able to do this, or know of someone that has, can you just give me some insight? I’m not familiar with how insurances work.

    Hello,

I had a 10cm hiatel hernia so four + inches of my stomach was in my chest cavity. I was approved for surgery in 3 weeks. My insurance was TRICARE.

  11. Tracy,

Maybe for the first year or so you should weigh your food. I know it’s a hassle but I read someone’s post and they weigh exactly 4 oz (maybe 5, can’t recall) every meal to make sure it’s not more than their pouch allows, and she said she never dumps or feels bad.
I’m definitely going to have to do this.
I had a rough night last night. The pain is not letting up yet. I know it’s only day 4 of a big surgery but I can barely walk and sitting up in bed , even with the help of my adjustable bed is so hard! I feel like someone tied a brick inside of me and when I move or stand up the gravity pulls it down and it hurts so much .

My stomach kept me up all night grumbling, screaming, and making scary sounds. I guess that means it’s working?

We’ll figure this thing out! Glad I have you to talk to friend.

  12. Yikes...that worries me too. I’m scheduled this Saturday for surgery and I’ve been eating like I’ve already had the surgery. What’s kept me on track with my weight loss is eating protein..,are u eating enough Protein? I Think it keeps you full longer...I guess I’ll find out afterwards. Wishing you luck my friend. I hope you stay well and keep your weight balanced. You’re already at a good weight so just maintain it xo

  13. That’s scary about the weight loss but maybe your body is where it’s supposed to be. You look great! Good news about the gerd..,praying it stays at bay. How’s the eating? Any more dumping episodes? What’s tour daily menu like if you don’t mind sharing. I’m curious because you say you don’t have the same fullness as you did with the sleeve.
    wishing you all the best.

  14. I’m glad your eating 1000 calories and you don’t dump anymore, that’s great news.
I’m wondering why you have gerd. Bypass is supposed to heal that. I have a large hiatel hernia and it’s the only reason I’m having the bypass done. My surgeon said my chances of reflux or gerd is less than 5%. It’s worrisome to me that there’s a possibility I’ll still have gerd issues. I guess it’s a wait and see. Still waiting for my surgery date. I’m pretty sure it’ll be in July though.
    take care
