Here are just a couple of the silly things that have made me smile the last couple weeks:
    1. I can buy cute underwear that are not made out of white flour sack material.
    2. I can put on my socks in the morning with out making strange sounds and grunting.
    3. When getting dressed to go somewhere the first thing out of my mouth is NOT "does this make me look fat!"

    Amtyp12345,
Congrats on that and your accomplishments. I was on Xigduo and Basaglar for the last 3 years. I still have to be on my BP meds for now. Hoping to get off of them soon.

So, let me first say happy Mother's Day to all of the moms on here. Secondly, I want to let you all know that I'm currently 161 lbs... which is 11 lbs away from my goal weight of 150 lbs.
👍🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 round of applause for that being that this is month 5 for me.
Tjirdky, let's discuss the topic at hand. Anyone who has followed me know that my journey with my husband has been bad . Well , it's reached an all time low. We were asleep 3 nights ago and the phone kept vibrating. I told him to answer and he wouldn't. Well we have 2 kids that are outside of the home right now so I said let me make sure it's not the kids texting him. But my gut told me this is gonna be bad. But I checked anyway. This is what I saw " You left your rubber in my bed and my baby found it""" with lil joking emoticons. OMG... my heart dropped to my toes. I felt he was cheating but didn't know for sure. Let me also put this out there. My husband had not slept with me in 3 1/2 weeks at the time. So I knew something wasn't right. I had been praying to God for a revelation in this marriage be it whatever way, good or bad because my spirit knew I wasn't being treated right and I knew he was messing around. Heck I had just caught him maybe 1 month before that trying to hookup on Facebook. So, needless to say I told him I want a divorce and this was it. No more will I be the hurt wife who is trying to sacrifice herself for her husband, nope. Already have been consulting legal counsel because it's over. Now, he swears he is gonna do right and wants his family. I told him he had 21 years to do right and if he wanted his family his penis oils have stayed in is pants.
Ohhhhhh.... here's the agonizing part for me. This is the same woman he had an affair with on me 13 years ago. Same dirty tramp. I'm like oh no that means this never ended. Which he swears it was only one time. Yep I believe that like I believe in Santa Claus. I cried for 2 days straight. Then I said forget this , on Mother's Day I put on a backless sundress ( in my new size 8 yassss) went out shopping ,had a great time with friends and felt like I was coming into my new, happier peaceful self. I am still very hurt but I thank God for revealing his evil because I don't want an std or aids because he is a hoer.
This surgery has truly changed my life. The old me would have cried and just took him bk and dealt with the pain. But not the new confident, strong Diana that this surgery helped to bring to surface. I posted before that I knew we were gonna divorce , just didn't think it was gonna be like this but it is what it is. There is someone out there who will cherish me and love me for the jewel that I am.
Thsnk you guys for all your support throughout the months. You have truly become my family.😊

Eight months post op and I was taken off my diabetic meds immediately after surgery and haven't had any need for them since. I was previously on metformin and glipizide, and I'd been diabetic for about 3 years, which may be why it was a relatively quick remission. I was also taken off my blood pressure meds (two, but I can't remember them right now).

Doing amazing! I hope you have been too. In fact, I have something additional to post in this thread that I only just experienced tonight.. like 20 mins ago. I LOVE EXERCISE NOW. Really, it's true! I'm not able to go all out yet, but I just did a 30 min power walk at night when it was like 50 degrees. I felt alive for the first time in a long while. Mind you all, I live in a REALLY safe area so I'm not too concerned about walking at night.
Also about the weight loss, I lost the 30 pounds in the pre-op diet and the post so far. 33 pounds today since Feb. 2nd when I last weighed in before starting the pre-op diet.

One of many...medical professionals speak to me much more kindly and respectfully. Instead of dismissing everything with "You need to lose weight", they actually assess and evaluate my symptoms.

    Too many to list, really.
Increased energy and stamina, able to participate in physical activities that were out of reach for years, no more BP or cholesterol meds, no more sleep apnea, being in control of my eating and my weight (and more generally my life), pride in what I've accomplished, not feeling like I'm being stared at in public (or actually being stared at), having clothes that look good and fit well...
I could go on, but you get the idea.

amyp12345 reacted to MaybeMeow2 in I am a food addict. And Bypass isn't a cure.
Hi Gang. Meow here. 5.5 months post op bypass. I've had slow but steady losses. (SW:217 CW:178. GW: 150)
And I just felt the need to make a post about my sweet addiction. Before my surgery I found myself very concerned about dumping. Often asking in the forum whether Bypass meant I could never have treats again and being assured I could "eventually" or "a bite or two" or "in moderation" etc. This brought me great relief. I knew then I wasn't in the ideal frame of mind but I was doing the best I could.
I found at about 4 weeks post op I could tolerate about 5 of my favorite chocolate covered almonds and ate them every night as a reward for hitting my Protein and Water goals. Eventually I increased that to 10 choco almonds. Then it moved to other Desserts or candy. What I've found is my entire eating plan is focused on getting my "healthys" in so I can have a treat at the end of the day. I become obsessed. I realize I've always been that way. Eat healthy so you can indulge.
I find I get nauseous if I eat a full portion of dessert. But I can usually get away with eating half. So I do. Every day. Or I eat the full portion and get nauseous. I get thru it. Usually lasts about 30 minutes. I feel miserable. I don't throw up. When I'm in the middle of the nausea I swear I'll never have sugar again. But then it passes and I'm the addict again.
The last couple months I've somehow justified 2 treats a day. And this Thanksgiving was the first time I really realized how deeply I don't have control over my treat addiction. I was surrounded by baked goods. I'd eat a small one. Feel sick. Then a couple hours do it again. Over the 2 days of celebration I made myself feel sick about 5 times. The nausea is miserable. Sweats, light headed, toe-curling nausea. Then it passes. And I'm fine. And like a drug addict I indulge again. It's shocking. It's like I'm binging. Except I never throw up and it's only one treat at a time.
I guess my point is... bypass didn't cure me. I do feel sick when I eat too much sugar. But it doesn't stop me from doing it. From constantly seeing how much I can have before I feel sick. I have a lot of work to do before I am no longer "unhealthy" regardless of my weight. Wanted to share in case others are sweet addicts and wondering how the surgery will affect that.

I hate to say it but...I still deal with it. I am over 15 years Post Op and there are times I just want food. I know I'm not truly hungry. That is what led to my regain. I constantly need to remind myself to track my food and even if I think I am hungry...is it time to eat, do I still have food left to eat???
It gets better but I don't think it ever goes away 😞

I'm down 80 pounds from my high weight, and 56 since surgery. I have 13 pounds to go to be below 300.
My necklaces fit now without an extender! I can't wear my wedding rings anymore. They're too big. I had to have them resized to a 10 at my highest weight. I'll wait until goal to size them again.
I also have clothes that were too small that are now too big!
I was able to sit in a booth the other day!
My BP is normal and my liver enzymes are half what they were!

Congratulations to all of you on your success and your NSV's!
