    Well when I started my first goal was to get to 200lbs and see how I look;

I'm currently 196 and I've decided to keep going my healthy bmi says 180 so who knows where I'll end up...

That's awesome! It's such a good feeling - I'm chasing the "healthy BMI" too - about 25 pounds away I think. Congrats to you, this is NOT an easy thing we're doing!

Well it depends on how much weight you need to lose and how quick or slow you lose it...

Some people take 6 months others may take 2 years...

    It's a very vague question...

I've met my goal. I've lost 92lbs (105 since the pre-op diet) but would like to keep going - which was why I was curious if some people are still losing even past the one-year mark. I know we're all different - was just a vague question to get some feedback on how others are doing at one year post-op and to keep my spirits up that it is possible to keep losing : )

  3. Thank you, gradycat. It really does help to know we're not alone. I will dispute the calories in/calories out theory ALL DAY LONG : ) I know I don't eat near as many calories as I naturally burn, not even including the exercising I do. So it really just comes down to what our own bodies are capable of doing and when they choose to burn or store. Everyone is different that's for sure!

Congrats on your success by the way - this is not easy!

In 10 days it will be 5 months. I'm concerned because I only lost 5 pounds in June and only 1 pound so far this month. It seems bad habits are creeping back.

I am exactly the same. I was sleeved on 2/20. Lost 55lbs pretty quickly and then the brakes went on! I've been stuck and teetering with a 1-2lb loss (and gain) for over a month now. I still follow the rules and mostly do Keto foods so it's very frustrating. I feel like this is it - and once I can up my intake to the full 8oz per meal that I'll stop losing altogether and actually start to gain. I too have felt like I should've gone with bypass. Glad to know I'm not alone!

Starting weight on surgery date (2/20/2019): 275

    4.5 months post-op: 215

    Height - 5'7 (female) 42 years young

  5. I'm not sure if I'm on track or if I'm being too hard on myself so I'm fishing for other people's results I guess you could say. I had VSG on 2/20/2019. I was 273 that morning at the hospital but came home at 279 from fluids (I suppose since it surely wasn't from eating :D). Today I am 231. There have been several days of no movement on the scale, which discourages me because I know I'm not eating much so it's frustrating! I have my 3-month post-op appt. on Monday and am hoping to see 229, which would be 44 pounds according to their scales since 2/20/2019. Granted, I've never lost 44 pounds in 3 months so I'm pleased but I'm just curious.

Today I'm 2 weeks post op. I lost 15 lbs my first week and I've lost zero lbs this week!! I've read a bunch of posts on here about having stalls, but this early?? It's so disheartening. I've been on nothing but liquids, then purees for the last 3 days so why aren't I losing weight? Nothing for an entire week! Ughhh. It really makes me have buyer's remorse. I know, (hope), it will get better and I'll hopefully lose, but right now I just want to hear some people say they went through the same thing early on and it turned out okay. Thanks for reading!

I feel the same way. I had my surgery on 2/20. That morning I was 272. I came home from the hospital at 279 from the fluids. Today, 19 days post-op, I'm 259. BUT according to my weight loss clinic I'm sure they'll go by the 272 so they'll only see a 17 pound loss in 3 weeks (I have my first post-op appt. this week). 259 is an increase from 2 days ago by the way! How can I gain when I've literally had 500 calories or less a day?! I too feel deflated and like I could eat pizza and chips and at least justify a gain! :) I think you and I are similar in our numbers and height so I was somewhat pleased to see your post. Thanks for sharing.

Sleeved 2/22... 7 days post-op and only down 9 lbs. feeling a little doubtful on this weight loss journey.

Sleeved 2/20. . . 11 pounds for me - not impressed considering I'm only eating the equivalent of 1 yogurt a day! : ) I guess we have to just trust the process and know that it may be a slow loss for some of us, which could be a good thing.

I’m scheduled for February 20th 2019 in Tijuana. I had Lapband in 2009 then had it taken out in 2016. I started having severe panic attacks when it was time to eat. My kids were smaller then, and would climb on me while I was tryyto chew, chew, chew. You first instinct is to tell them to stop but AFTER you swallow. So I would swallow food to ask them to get off of me and would inevitably get something stuck. Then I’d be at the table 20 minutes later trying to finish my food. It was an awful cycle.

I’m scared that because I failed the lapband that I might fail the sleeve. I know I have to do something tho. I’ve gained 100 pounds since taking the band out. I’m scared for my life. I know I can do the liquid diet part but I’m nervous about the regular food part.

I hope all went well for you & your surgery!

I’m on 2/20 also in Southern California, not on liquids until the day before surgery. Have to take milk of magnesia at noon and that’s about it. I am having my lapband taken out and revisioning to sleeve so hopefully all goes smooth! Good luck to you! Glad I found this website!

Good morning! I'm just curious - did the lap band fail in some way? Years ago I considered it but was advised against it because of a poor success rate? Got pregnant a couple years later, had a baby in 2017 and now I'm waiting for the sleeve surgery.

Hi, i too am having my Sleeve done on the 20th!! Im really excited about this & so far the Nerves aren't a problem! My advice would b to focus on all the great things u'll b able 2 do & how Fantastic u'll look...... My heaviest was 245 in Sept 2018 but through Swimming (osteoarthritis in hips) I'm @ 227 as of last week.. My goal is a reasonable 150 or a bit less, as I haven't been that in 20yrs!!!! 🤣 I would love to keep in touch as we go thru the same surgery on the same day! I just got on this forum a few minutes ago & Ur's was the first post I saw.

Thank you for your reply! I would love to keep in touch. Really struggling with anxiety, which is not the norm for me. Just want to close my eyes and wake up about 6 months ahead and 40lbs lighter 😉

Hi, I'm having my my surgery Feb 13th. I'm already on the liquid diet and it is really hard. I'm really tired. I'm going back and forth if I want to do this. I know this will be good in the long run. Reading others comments helps. You are all very encouraging, I wish you the best.

Maybe all the second-guessing is perfectly normal because I've been doing that too!! My clinic nurse said not to stress too much about the pre-op diet & just do the best I can. We can do this!! My bff had it done 10/2017 & says she would do it again in a heartbeat!! Just have to get past the first several weeks.
