  1. Today was weigh in day and woohoo 199.4. I have not weighed this for over 7 years!!! I am so excited (if you can't tell)

food is getting easier, I still am having a problem with chicken and eggs. I keep trying chicken but it just tastes off. I bought those little street taco shells and they are great, I can almost eat a whole one (corn) so I feel like I am actually eating a full meal. I still am struggling with eating slow. I have to remind myself to take breaks. I hope everyone else is doing well.

  2. Just a quick update, I am 19 days out from surgery and yesterday and today are the first days I don’t have any pain. The only pain I was experiencing was under my left rib like a pulling sensation, dr said it was my pouch healing. Tuesday I start regular food, I have been on soft food for this week so no more puréed!! I’ve had shrimp, salmon and ham with a pickle no skin. Omg it tasted awesome lol. I am looking forward to the 9th when I can start exercising. Water has been fine and so has taking the Vitamins. Good luck to anyone who is next in line!!

  3. Sorry yes everything went great had surgery on April 9th I was terrified about being put under, when I was ready to be brought back they gave me something to relax me and I was out lol. Woke up in some pain, I had the morphine pump which was the only thing that did not agree with me, it made me nauseous and very out of it, I stopped that at 2am and switched to norco. After that it was sooo much better, drinking was fine, I spent two nights in the hospital, came home and day 3 post op I started puréed food, everything has been good not much pain only when I turn a certain way I feel it in my left side where the dr said he did most of the work. I did not experience any gas pains. For anyone like me who was afraid of being put under it is like everyone says your asleep and then you wake up and it’s over lol not as terrifying as I thought. Good luck to the rest of you that have upcoming surgeries!

Any fears before WLS? After? What did you fear the most. How did you overcome them? Did any actually come through? I'm so excited for this opportunity to change my life for the best but honestly I'm scared as hell. I reside in nyc have a great medical team working with me but still I'm scared. The closer I get to surgery date the more I think about it. Not knowing the outcome 5-10-20 years from now is killing me. I played out my life after surgery about a 100 different ways in my head. LOL I'm scared of the unknown.

I was terrified of being under, on the day of surgery I knew this was what I wanted so i touched it out, the anesthesiologist gave me something to relax me and i fell asleep when I woke up I was in recovery. It’s been fairly easy so far no gas pains so far I just walk walk and walk. I’m only taking pain meds at night, sorry surgery was on April 9th. And as far as 20 years out, my mother and mother-in-law had the bypass in 2001 and 2003, both have maintained they’re weight and are healthy. One of the reasons I had the bypass, I watched my grandmother die at 69 from obesity related diseases and I did not want my children or grandchildren to endure the same pain. Everyone’s path is different just don’t do something because you are afraid of the unknown good luck in your journey!

Just curious did anyone else end up with a surprise hernia repair? I feel better today but now wondering how the hell they expect me to take all these meds that have to be crushed and are not a delight to take;) all of them but 2 have to be crushed urg!!! But on the plus side I’m finally going pee and had a bm and that did make my stomach feel somewhat better yay!
I don’t have to crush any pills and I have been taking 3 until tomorrow then I take all of my Vitamins, home now, took a shower and feel sooo much better. Left side tender but dr said it would be that’s where they did most of the work I just found out today no yogurt until I can have milk in 6 months. I start the purées stage tomorrow.

  6. Doing well today finally peeing ok, no bm and I have not passed gas yet but I am walking laps. I have eaten some broth the Jello was too sweet. I’m taking hydrocodone for pain it’s not bad. All of you who have the preop diet follow it, that was the first thing they told my husband, he could tell I followed my diet and had no problems because I did. I was so scared for surgery but honestly it was as everyone else said not bad. Good luck to everyone who’s surgery is coming up!

    What is an Emersion mixer?
I received my time today, I have to be there at noon surgery is at 145, holy cow I’m nervous! And I am going to do the last of my shopping this weekend, I’ve been looking up puréed recipes since I will be on that for 4 weeks. We only do Clear Liquids in the hospital.

  10. Saw my surgeon today for the final visit before Tuesday, does anyone else have to have shots after surgery? I have to give myself a shot for three days when I am home it’s a blood thinner not heparin it starts with a L I also have to drink potassium and take Pepcid for 4 months
