Wendums got a reaction from ProudGrammy in CPAP & Aerophagia - Why was I never warned of this!
Aerophagia is what it's called. When air enters the esophagus and goes into the belly during sleep from too high of a pressure from a CPAP machine. My Bariatric Dr. knew I used a CPAP, and my sleep Dr. knew that I was having Bariatric surgery. Neither of them ever mentioned to me that this is a thing. Well about 2 weeks post-op, after I had lost about 40lbs total, my body getting leaner, the high pressure of my machine started pushing air into my new tiny belly while I slept. After a couple of days waking up to a full belly of air, I started looking online for answers, It was on a Saturday, so I would have to wait till Monday to call the dr. and find out what could be done. They lowered my pressure and it stopped doing this, but I fear it messed up my new stomach a little. And I think the amount it takes to satisfy me is a direct result of this. There's no going back from this now, so I'm just leaving my rant here, and moving on with my plan, and knowing that even though I may be able to eat a bit more than the suggested 4oz max at a meal right now, It's by far less than the overfilled plates that I could put away prior to surgery. 😕

"She has mentioned before about how this is a short cut or that i have an advantage to being able to lose weight etc"

This is exactly how I looked at WLS before I considered it. Yah, I was dumb! It amazes me how often it's thought of as some sort of cheat! Haha like it's all one big competition. Well hopefully she will come to the realization that this surgery is a good thing for you and is helping you change your life.

Always remember that this surgery was right for you, and don't let anyone EVER take your success away from you.

Honestly, I'd very flatly tell her "I've told a very small group of people, this is private information I shared with people I trust, knowing they would not share it with others. I'm asking you not to tell people, and if they ask you directly, tell them you don't know and they'll have to ask me." Give her a line in the sand (I'm not broadcasting and neither should you) and an out (this is exactly what to do if people ask you). Then drop it.
This isn't foolproof. She still might tell, and quite frankly she might already have told if she's hinting that "people will know" and she's trying to get out ahead of you hearing about it. But this at least puts all your cards on the table, avoids any question of her being jealous, and frames it entirely as it being your information, your responsibility to share, and your placing of trust in her NOT to tell.
Either way, prepare yourself that the information's already been shared and get ready to roll with it. The important thing is that you made a life decision for yourself and you're benefiting from those changes - what people opine about your decisions is about as important as how they feel about your new car or the shade you painted your front room. This impacts them... how? Not? Oh, not, it does not impact them at all, so big whoop about their opinions.

Wendums reacted to KT1981 in 14 weeks out and nearing the halfway point
I'm floored at how far I've come. I was sleeved on 10/17/18 at 265. My starting weight was 275 (though my highest was above 300) and I'm only 5'5".
My personal goal was to lose 125 pounds, putting me at 150 pounds, and in the healthy BMI range.
Today I clocked in at 216.2. I've lost over 58 pounds and am less than 5 pounds from being halfway to my goal. I'll probably be at the halfway point in a couple weeks. I'm freaking floored. I have hope that I can get to 150 someday. I know things will probably start to slow dramatically after another few months, but I've been putting in the work and am happy to continue doing so, even when things slow down.
After all this worry and stress about following the plan and doing things right, and getting through stalls, I have found success, and I have hope.

My surgery went well, I was up and walking the next day, drinking my Protein, and wasn't nauseous not even once. So I got to go home the next day

This is day 3 post-op. I am doing well, although I slept most of yesterday away, I believe I needed to catch up on sleep, since sleep in the hospital is in 2 hour intervals, someones always waking you up for something lol

Today I've been up all day, walking around, playing on the computer. I've had some pain but not anything that cant be controlled. The drinking thing has been hard. Making sure i get my protein in. So mainly right now I'm on 2x Protein Shakes a day, i split them up so that I'm only handling 4oz at a time. Drinking Water and power-aid zero all day. And today I measured out 2oz sf Jello and 2oz beef broth for lunch. I think i'm going to do ok with my new stomach. I worry about stretching it, but from what I've read 4 oz. on the liquid diet is not the same as solid food. I usually take my time and get full from 4oz of liquid.

So far so good, I am so happy with my decision to do this.
