You ladies are the best - thank you so much! Reading your replies have lifted my spirits more than you know. I now know to freeze Protein Shakes for ice cream, practice what to say when he comes crawling back after seeing that this WILL work damn it!, and pick one of his friends to sleep with!

6 months ago I decided with the support of my husband to start the long insurance approval process for gastric sleeve surgery.
5 months so my husband of 12 years informed me he was no longer attracted to me didn't think the surgery would work, and wanted a divorce so he could "live his true life."
The last few months have been unreal but I decided to go forward with the surgery even though most everyone recommended postponing it. I had the surgery last Tuesday (12/11) and my divorce was finalized today (12/17).
All I want to do is eat ice cream and drink wine, but since that is obviously no longer on the menu, does anyone have some advice for how I can get through the next 24 hours? Drowning my sorrows in Gatorade and chicken broth is not cutting it!

The one thing I've learned by reading through all these posts is that every single person is different!

I had my surgery the day before you. I was feeling terrible until I realized I wasn't getting enough Fluid and once I really focused on sipping constantly I felt much better.

I've been going out to run errands since Friday simply because of necessity. I just pin my JP drain inside my jacket and walk slow!

And as for meds, right now I'm taking liquid Tylenol every 8 hours. Starting tomorrow I'll try cutting back to every 12 hours but I'm a big fan of staying on top of the pain before it gets out of hand!

Hope you start feeling better soon!

My family lives in Texas and i live in Maryland. Back in xmas 2017 i told them i was going to go through WLS. I had to explain what it was about, but i guess they thought.."she wont do it".. Mom,Dad, brother were scared , sister in law, husband and few others very supportive.
I just came to Texas yesterday for xmas and at 5 months post op my fam are blown away.
I showed them my xmas pic from 2017at 298lbs and they are shocked with the difference. I am currently at 224 lbs and I tell them im just getting started and i feel great.
Now about food..lol yes mom is cooking away..meal after meal but i am focused and i only serve my small portions and very selective on what i can eat, I talk more than i eat when before i was the quiet one eating while every one was talking and prob reaching out for a second plate.
Merry Christmas everyone lets stay focused. We can do this!

I’ve noticed a bit of a morbid trend in the forums lately and wanted to pipe up. This decision is the best decision I have ever made for myself. I am happier in my own skin in a way I can’t remember ever being. I’ve lost about 125lb minimum since thanksgiving 2017 (too ashamed to step on a scale but easily over 300lbs). Now I’m 7 months out and god even at the most painful point in my recovery did I doubt my decision. This changed my life. I will forever be grateful I had the strength to go through with it.

So newbies and pre-surgers.... make the decision if it’s right for you and don’t let fear dictate your choice!

I have a slightly different take on issues like this at work. I'd bet a lot of people don't quite agree with me. It is inappropriate to discuss coworkers' bodies. Seriously. If it were me, I'd talk to them, say you overheard them, and tell them that it just is not OK to talk about another coworker's body - no matter what the context. Also remind them that pretty much no place in an office is private and they should never think they can't be overheard. At my job, we had a successful claim of harassment because someone overheard a coworker talking about her body. Not in a sexual way, but bodies at work should be off limit.

I don’t think I could tolerate it that soon, but steak is not an unhealthy food, it has tons of Protein and if he is getting a doggie bag, he seems to be following the plan, no? He’s not taking down a buffet or eating even eating a piece of cake, just a piece of protein in a small portion. I think the “how” is a reasonable question, but not the “why”.

I kind of agree with the gentleman at your meeting. Now, I will say, I don't know how he's able to tolerate all that meat so early, but I agree with him about depriving himself. I also allow myself to have certain things that other people who have had this surgery wouldn't dare have. I eat chocolate daily. It's something that I really enjoy. Now, I don't overindulge in it, but I do have a bit every day, and I make sure to track it.
I've dieted for a large portion of my life, and what's always happened before is that I'm really strict, then I'll allow myself to have a little something on special occasions, then I get completely derailed and can't get back on track. Well, this time is different. I don't count anything as getting off track really. This is a lifestyle change; it's not a diet. I choose to primarily eat healthy, but every now and then, I eat things that aren't necessarily good for me. This is how I plan to keep this going for the long term.

I ate a bite of very rare, very lean steak at around 4-5 weeks? *blush* Sue me...
And by about 8 weeks out I was eating anything and everything. But it was only small amounts and very rare, tender and chewed to kingdom come.
This is where you simply can't compare cuz we're all different. My doc had released me to eat anything, btw.

English Teacher thoughts: I feel like "Bye, Felicia" **in usage** is gender neutral, like, "Girl, please!"

Or maybe I just like annoying the men in my life, calling them "Felicia" and "Girl".... honestly, it's a crapshoot. #teamgenderneutral #professionalopinion

So your "Ex" left to " Find Himself"? Does he really think he is worth the search? And he didn't feel lost until you committed to weight loss? What a 14 carat Bozo he turned out to be! What is the male equivalent of" Bye Felicia," maybe" Bye Feliciano?" Now he has shown his true colors and they look murky to me! Just Saying!
