I understand that hormones can change with weight loss surgeries. You have a lot on your plate but you need to stop -just stop with the battles. Let go and give them to God. One person alone with having major surgery amid making life time changes it is too much. Crying is good, but laughter is healing for the body and soul.
first take care of you. Find a quiet place, and take time to just be still. Put in a funny movie - something lighthearted that makes you happy or music, a sermon. Call your Dr or support group or find a therapist so you can vent, but get help.
we can’t fix the world, and sometimes the more we try, the worse it gets . Concentrate on you. The eviction thing, tell the attorney to handle it, it’s why you pay him. What’s in the past, try to let it stay there. Court things taking forever right now, there’s always a lot of back n forth. Calendar it 4 weeks from today.
people can’t hurt you more than what you let them. You stay in control, of you . Learn to respond and not react to unwelcomed news. Wish you the best.
just read your profile. Happy Birthday. For you and me both. 4/29/ 53 here. 🎊

Here's something that might help. I've never used the powdered Protein. I use the pre-made liquid Protein Drinks. Specifically, I use GNC Lean shakes which are LACTOSE FREE!!!!! I think Fairlife might also be lactose-free, but you might want to check into that. The GNC Swiss chocolate is my favorite and it has 25g of protein and tastes great. Are you drinking any Gatorade Zero to get some electrolytes in to hydrate you? It's sugar-free.

I take a Lactaid only when I eat cheese or dairy, which is not very often, and I take it immediately when I start eating the dairy food. It works instantly. You don't have to worry about taking it 30 minutes before or anything, just when you start eating dairy. It doesn't build up in your system, it's an "as-needed" medicine for quick relief. I think it fights the enzymes that causes the bloating the diarrhea from the dairy. I carry it in my purse at all times in case I end up eating out somewhere with something that has cheese on it. And no, no more diarrhea if I eat dairy as long as I take a Lactaid.

So sorry you're going through this. It is an emotional time with upcoming WLS and all. Lactose is a real thing at a certain age and I have to take Lactaid now with any dairy. It was causing me diarrhea. We're here to listen to you, so feel free to vent any time. We might not have an answer, but we'll listen and support and encourage you.

Welcome to these forums. Here you'll find tons of information and advice and real-life experience in the threads and forums. Not all insurance is the same. Mine didn't require 6 months pre-op. I was about 3 months start to finish from applying to pre-surgery appointments to approval to actual surgery date.

You are not broken or beyond repair. Many people have "food funerals" before their WLS, but if at all possible try to start eating NOW like you will be after your surgery and it'll make the transition a whole lot easier.

Hi Melanie, I gained approximately 30 pounds during COVID and only recently lost them back. I did Weight Watchers and other diets and focused on Protein and portion sizes to get my act back together. I'm also working out 3-5 times a week. It's a constant struggle, but the good news is that the WLS still works as a tool when I'm making the right choices.

Your message was so sweet and supportive. I've avoided dairy products for years without knowing if I was officially lactose intolerant, but now I've been introduced to Lactaid. I haven't yet taken it...when you take it with dairy -- do you not get diarrhea anymore? Do you take Lactaid regularly or daily?

I slept upright in the hospital for two nights post-op but once I got home I slept on my side and have ever since, not propped up or anything and I don't have any trouble.

Don't weigh yourself right now. Just follow the process and the weight will drop off. Just because you CAN eat something doesn't mean you SHOULD. Watch your portion sizes.

I make the Peanut Butter "cookies". Peanut butter, an egg, and sweetener (I use honey, and only half the called for amount). Google any 3 ingredient peanut butter cookie recipe. Easy to just grab one or two as a snack. Satisfies the craving, and the craving goes away eventually.
