Easter candy problems
GradyCat replied to KCgirl061's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Me too, Hershey Easter Eggs got to me at the Walgreens store. But it's a Monday and April 1st and I can start fresh again with making good choices today and for the rest of my life. -
Anyone put on a one month liquid diet??
GradyCat replied to iliana00000's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was on liquids for 3 weeks post-op. -
Pre Anxiety Positive Support Please
GradyCat replied to TreeMystic's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just had the sleeve just shy of 4 months ago and recovery was a breeze -- no pain, no complications, no problems. It can happen! You can do this! Hang in there. -
It's normal to stall around Week 3 or 4. It sucks, but it's normal. Your body is still adjusting to everything that's been done to it and to your transition from liquids to soft foods

It's normal to get cold feet as the surgery date gets closer, but hang in there and it'll be one of the best decisions you've ever made for your health.

Surgery today: Feeling hopeless
GradyCat replied to elvira.dark's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Have you considered talking with a counselor about your food issues? I have always eaten out of depression or boredom but now with the sleeve surgery it's easier to say "no" when those feelings come on. Good luck on your surgery and cheer up! -
Congrats! Yes, WLS is definitely worth it.

I didn't have to do a liquid diet pre-op, but I had to do liquids only for 3 weeks post-op. It went okay because I kept a large variety of liquids in my arsenal: sugar free popsicles, sugar-free peach iced tea, decaf coffee, protein shakes, gatorade zero, berry-flavored iced tea, etc.

Sleeves Any regrets????why and why not????
GradyCat replied to supergirl88's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
No regrets at all 4 months post-op sleeve. Already lost 35-50 pounds, get rid of GERD, got rid of Sleep Apnea and I'm just getting started. I have 50 more pounds to lose and things are just going to get better and better. I never had any complications or problems with surgery or after. -
Question on how you deal with the WLS haters...
GradyCat replied to charlie2311's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm still pretending I haven't lost any weight when people say, "You look different, have you lost weight?" to avoid awkward conversations, but I've lost 50 now, so I won't be able to pretend much longer, but I'm going to keep blowing them off. Only my husband knows that I had WLS and it's going to stay that way. -
My GERD was really bad for the first month post-op but now I don't have it at all at 3 months post-op. I'm cured!

sleeve in Mexico now $4200 or US $6000 but wait 6 months)
GradyCat replied to Panda333's topic in Insurance & Financing
You've read about the recent super-Bug virus problem in Mexico, right? What if there are complications? How will you get follow-up? I would wait the extra 3-6 months and spend the extra $1800 to have it in the USA for peace of mind. But that's just me. -
Good stuck in throat?
GradyCat replied to jazzyj13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No, I never really felt like that and I'm 4 months post-op sleeve. -
I'm 4 months post-op and just browsed through MyFitnessPal entries and it looks like I average 35-40 carbs per day

weight gain after gastric sleeve
GradyCat replied to MaryNa's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I agree with what FluffyChix said about going back to the basics for a while to get back on track. Eating healthier will help with the acid reflux too -
You'll appreciate that feeling once you advance to foods and it'll keep you from wanting to overeat or indulge in things you shouldn't have.

How soon after surgery did you wait to workout?
GradyCat replied to 2Bsmaller18's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I was doing cardio and going to the gym at 2 weeks but not lifting or doing strength training machines until 6 weeks and then stuck with light weights for another 4 weeks until I felt I could do heavier weights. -
Me, me, (raises hand), I do! It's a safe sweet treat to eat.
-
Yes, it's normal to stall right around this time. Perfectly natural. It'll last a week or two and then you'll start losing again.
-
Good luck on your weight loss journey. I am 4 months post-op sleeve and do not regret any of it. I've already gotten rid of GERD (Acid Reflux) and Sleep Apnea (no more CPAP) and I feel better.

Each surgeon is different. Some require a liquids-only diet. Mine just required a calorie restriction of no more than 1500 calories per day and no fatty or fried foods for the two weeks prior to surgery.

4wks post. Have not lost in 2 weeks
GradyCat replied to skinny4kids's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It's the infamous Weeks 3 and 4 Stall. It's perfectly normal and most everyone experiences it at this time. Your body just went through major surgery and is transitioning from no food to liquids to soft foods to solid foods and doesn't know what to think about it. Just give it a little time and weight will start dropping again. -
I've hit the clearance sales at Kohl's and the local charity thrift stores for transition pieces while I'm losing weight because I don't want to invest too much in a new wardrobe while I'm still changing sizes.

Flexibility After Gastric Sleeve Surgery
GradyCat replied to buff099's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, you'll be able to do them, but your incisions might pull/feel the stretch a little at first while they're new and healing.
