  1. Good morning- miserable- hit another stall since last Tuesday (that's two in less than 6 weeks) ...waaaaaaaah. Other than that great. Exercising a lot more and feeling good. how is your reflux- i saw another post you said you were having issues with it due to "lower quality" Water :)

  2. I hit my second stall at 5-6 weeks and here I sit....pissed off. But I am really upping my exercise a lot now. It's not easy but I am pushing myself. Figure I have to do something to take my mind off of it. I told myself i won't get on the scale til the end of the month. If it hasnt moved by then I may have a breakdown lol

    Hang in there!

Oh wow. I'm gonna start keeping a record of "super filling meals" for my Hungry Hungry Heifer days. :)

This was Breakfast this morning and these were the afters. I sauteed mushrooms and onions with power greens and garlic and had a leftover 1/2 piece of bacon with an egg fried over medium-runny yolk, hard whites.

Hold me. So. So. So. Good!

(objects in the mirror are larger than they may appear...this is a dessert plate and a dinner fork)

That looks great. I wish I loved eggs right now. Sweet cherubs are my favorite tomatoes if they are not from my garden

  4. I am on the East Coast also....so glad to have the weather improving...cannot wait to get outside more.

B-Sides Questions: Do you prefer certain seasons or climates over others? YES! Spring/Fall and I do like summer a bit...but Winter can take a hike!

So here is a thought, I dont drink but I am going away in the summer to the Caribbean and I was thinking laying at the beach and a bartender comes around with a very cold beer. What would u do? I know we are not allowed to drink alcohol so I'm just curious anyone had a beer after surgery and what happened

I would say no thank you- but I might get a differetn sort of drink if I was on vacation and I wanted to have a drink- depending how far post op I was. Beer won't ever be in my future again but I will drink again occasionally at some point farther down the road. It won't be my norm but I am sure I will.

This is totally normal for where you are in the evolution. :) I too get hungrier when I add in too much fruit. I can do about an ounce or two of berries or a green tart apple with peel a day without increased hunger.

One thing my RD told me which works great for me - still at 13months out is that fill pouch with Protein at meals. But you can plan mini meals that have mostly veg! In the early days that helped me.

    Early On:

Breakfast: Protein Shake (or green smoothie with Protein Powder + frozen spinach + blueberries + psyllium + unsw. cash milk) = 30g of protein

MS: red bell pepper, celery or cucumbers or carrots and a yogurt ranch sauce

Lunch: 2-3oz protein: roll up with meat/cheese + 1oz of some raw veg (cucumber, carrots, celery, grape tomatoes, avocado)

AS: Mixed green salad like Rick outlines + feta cheese + pumpkin or sunflower seeds or walnuts/almonds/pecans

    Dinner: 2-3oz protein (grilled or pan sauteed) + 1oz cooked veggies + 1oz avocado/tomato

BS: 1/2oz almonds + 1oz Granny Smith Apple

NOW at 13months: I try not to snack, but do schedule a bedtime JIC snack. And if I'm hungry through the day, then the ONLY thing I get is 1 hard boiled egg OR raw veggies with yogurt Ranch dip

Breakfast: I still alternate green smoothies with eating egg puffs with spinach and mushrooms

Lunch: salad with 2oz protein or Green Soup with Bone Broth and veggies + 2oz protein

    Dinner: 3-4oz protein + 1-2oz cooked veggie + 1oz avocado/tomato

BS: 1/2oz almonds + 1oz Granny Smith Apple OR 1 GG brancrisp + 1-2tbsp almond butter

This is AWESOME! Thank you so much. I just copied this whole damn thing to my email and notes on my phone and I am going to try to follow this - I miss veggies so much! Thanks again.

I think we’re right around the same surgery time and I’ve been tolerating spinach and 50/50 blends well. I do have to watch the stems are pinched off or they can sort of catch. It’s my go to if I have just a bit of leftover Protein. But obviously, trust your gut (literally 😂😂😂)
And thank you @RickM ! Very informative video. There should be a video only link thread on here 😎

Good to know- i had cauli fried rice today which is fine but I really struggle with protein + veggie at the same time cuz protein fills me up so fast. Drives me bonkers but I guess this is life...for now at least.

and I think the sugar i fruit is making me crave food- just food in general- I need to experiment but today i was hungry and I haven't been hungry at all yet. Only change is fruit.....sigh

  8. Yesterday I got the ok from my team to move onto all foods as tolerated but more specifically, raw fruits & veggies, nuts, grains (if I choose) but not potatoes, rice, bread.....

So I have had fresh blueberries and a cutie mandarin so far and did fine with both (last night/today). It was heaven! LOL

My question is....even though I dream of a huge salad with tons of veggies and a little chicken...(I know that isnt happening)....how did you start incorporating fruit/veggies (mainly raw veggies) and still hit your Protein goals. I know protein first for life and I will keep that up but I really want to try having some veggies. I will prob have 5 small meals a day (plus a shake spread out through the day) and I was thinking of trying hummus and carrots tonight for my last meal. I also will have cooked vegs with my meals more if i can fit them. fruit is pretty easy cuz i can just toss a few berries in my yogurt.

    TYIA

  9. Ok, have to catch up here.

    11- my eyes I suppose....

12- let go of all the negative thoughts about this journey. Nothing will go wrong and I will lose weight, even if it's slow-er.

How do you handle dissatisfaction / disappointment / discouragement in life? I think I used to eat my way through it before. Now I just have learned to cope better. No more wine /snacks to deal. I just accept it and try to move one. Take time to let it sink in and cry if need be and be human, instead of trying to just keep a strong face.

scales only tell you only 1 number in your overall health (maybe 4 if they are fancy)

They can't tell you your blood pressure, a1c, thyroid function, stress levels, bone density, heart valve function, kidney function, glaucoma risk factor, dental anomalies, love life predictions, hair stylist reviews, challenges to join, tax audit results, ebay bidding wars wins, Walking Dead/Game of Thrones endings...

IDK... Doesn't seem that important in the overarching story

You're right.....but in the early stages (5-6 weeks) It's definitely frustrating when the thing goes up and down but not really down much :) Time to ignore the scale for a while......Im glad my scale doesnt review my hairstyle right now though !! lol

Hi! Sorry you hit a mental snag... But try to think of it as that.

Your body is doing just fine if its not actively rebelling against you. Silver lining. Not everyone will lose extremely fast , fast ,evenly or at the same pace forever. And im sure youve heard it all before.

I was a slow loser. I once stalled for a month+ straight out the gate. I didnt know it until visiting my surgeon's office ( I utterly refused to buy a scale during the losing phase). I can only tell you what I decided to do not what you should do.

I gave the royal single finger salute to weighing and focused squarely on things I could control. My diet. I went hardcore making sure I substituted everything I could with better things even if they were already healthy, eliminating sugar completely (honey & maple) cutting out unnecessary cals when/where I could, etc.

It gave me something I could quantifiably control. I didn't feel helpless or hopeless and i didnt care about the scake at all ... I was way too busy. All the oz ans lbs add up in the end. Promise. Promise. Promise.

I hope you feel better about it all soon. Your surgery is very young. There is still so much time to explore and experience you new post Bari Life and body. Wait and see. 💜

THis is great advice. i just nearly hurled my scale out the window this morning....so this is good to read!!!

Sorry I've been absent from this thread. I am struggling so badly...

For a while I had been losing a pound a day - down 21 lbs. Now I'm stuck. My appetite has returned and all of the mind games about food have come back into my head. I'm really feeling like a bit of a mess to be honest :( I didn't think I'd face issues only 5 weeks post surgery!

Sorry you are feeling this way. I’m a little over 5 weeks post op and the scale is moving so slow but I am just sticking with it. I don’t really get hungry unless I don’t eat for a long time but I have the mind game struggles. I figure this is just something I have to overcome and you will too. Stick with it!

I think they're both the same really mid range blenders. You can pay $20 or you can pay $2000 it really depends on your budget!

But I can't believe people buying pre-made Protein Drinks at like $3-$5 a drink when you can buy 2lbs of powder from $30+ and make your own shakes!

I am a working mom and i barely drink a shake a day-- so between taking care of my family, cooking meals, doing normal stuff at home, running my kid around, and working a busy full time professional job. I have no problem spending $20-25 bucks for a case of 18 pre made shakes :)

If you choose not to do that- great for you but sometimes convenience is worth a few bucks to people.

Thanks for the input. I was thinking that I would use it for smoothies and shakes too. Other than that, not sure how much I would use it.

I drink mostly premade shakes when I drink them and I don't make smoothies much but it works for that. I think I'd get the smallest most economical one if I was buying another one. It's a space waster for me LOL but some people use theirs daily and then you need a good one.

  15. I didn't actually use my blender to puree anything except chicken salad one time and meh- i could have lived w/out that. I just ate a lot of yogurt, cottage cheese, ricotta bake, things like that. If you are not on your puree stage a long time, I wouldn't buy anything if you don't think you will use it in the future. That being said, I have the ninja, it has a few different attachments and I use it sometimes for shakes...but not much else.
