Sweettoothless got a reaction from Jojo99 in Can we talk about food aversion
Yes! So many of my favorites I am just not interested in. I loved pizza and now it grosses me out. Just so heavy. And I am super focused on texture instead of taste. And totally not interested in sweets. I got my daughter donuts for her graduation and I took one bite and it was so gross. I would have gone nuts for a warm Krispy Kreme in the old days. I crave bitter and sour. I drink plain 100% cranberry juice very diluted of course for an infection right now and I like it. I add lemon juice to my Water for kidney stone prevention and I don't add any sweetener. A lot of things just taste like mush now. I so loved crackers and dry toast and now I don't want them at all. In fact I don't really want anything so it is difficult to meal plan and shop for the rest of my family. I'm happy about it though and i hope this aversion stays because i totally would have had Death by Toast and Crackers on my headstone if not for surgery.

Omg! HCG diet! I did that and they had us max out at 500 calories a day. And the stupid shots! For me, in a nutshell, I'll never be a lean Protein and one bite of broccoli person. BUT I am now a 1 taco (real taco not taco bell) makes me full and happy for hours. No cravings. No denying food groups. Before, I could eat many tacos before being full and happy. Or deny myself any tacos and think about them until I was ravenous and head hungry and stomach hungry. For me, the surgery gave me my brain back. I'm able to make much better choices. I find I automatically skip the carbs most of the time because I am loving the "guts" of the sandwich much more than the filler (bread) . So a tiny portion of what I love once in awhile re-set my mindset of either being super strict/ super glutinous. I had no in-between before and now I do.

You just have to find a drink you don't hate. Your taste buds will be weird at first. This is a rough time and there are so many changes but it will get better. I had to keep fighting the panicky feeling that I'd never be able to drink more than an ounce of liquid at a time. I hated diet sugar after surgery and still do 18 months later. Try throwing in a few chunks of frozen fruit into your Water. You can't eat them since you are liquids still but I found and still find that having just a hint of taste makes drinking the water constantly so much more bearable. I am always recommending Fairlife milk, I promise I don't own stock in the company! It is lower sugar and higher Protein so you can get 11g of protein as well as 8oz of liquid at the same time. Also beef broth was my jam. Get the "Better than Boullion" brand that comes in a jar, it tastes much better. Sometimes sipping a warm liquid feels more doable.
And you are not whining, merely venting. Which we all do. So don't let anyone shame you into not getting things off your chest. Sometimes it is helpful just to talk about it.

Not an expert, but the "I can stop whenever I want to...just not now" thing is a pretty classic addict line. Addicts, especially young ones, rarely consider themselves to be addicts. Her coke habit may not seem like a problem now, but these things have a nasty habit of spiraling. If I was in your position, I would advise her to be honest with her doctor about her cocaine use. At the very least her doctor can explain what the impacts would be on her post-OP stomach.

I am not that into sweets anymore but I still love cinnamon bears. Maybe because they are more spicy than sweet. I'm actually looking forward to Halloween this year without all the temptations. Unless I decide to give out flaming hot cheetos......

I am having surgery in two days and up until now I have been calm. Today I am more anxious than usual. I think I am just nervous about after surgery. How will I feel? How much pain will I be in? Making sure I get enough fluids when I am home. I keep telling myself I am doing this surgery to become a healthier person. Any good vibes would be appreciated. My mind is racing.

I attempted to go back to work at 9 days post-op and it was a little rough for me. I ended up working from home so I could stay in pjs and take naps when needed. I am now set to officially go into the office tomorrow morning for the first time since surgery (13 days post-op) and a little concerned I cannot make it a full day without napping. I also am having a tough time sitting in a desk chair right now as I think it is pushing on incisions. Every day is getting better, so we will see how it goes! Send me all the good juju to make it through the day.

It seems too early for them to give you pain pills instead of liquid pain meds. Maybe you aren't digesting them and they could be irritating you. You can drink fairlife brand milk (high Protein, low sugar) and it counts as liquid AND protein. I hated protein Water at first because it tasted like Syrup to my new tastebuds but later I could drink it diluted with citrus juice added to use them up. Definitely go to the doctor and just take the angle of wanting to find out what is wrong so they don't think you just want more meds.

Actually women can do it too. Some can expell it in large amounts through normal orgasm or when rubbing the g-spot. Idk why people seem so weirded out about someone talking about normal bodily functions. If it makes you uncomfortable, don't comment or continue to read. Not everyone is so uncomfortable with their body that they can't talk about these things. This board should be a place where people can come and ask questions without judgement.
Also, all women should know how their parts smell when they're healthy. The first sign of something wrong with those parts is generally the smell changing. Not anything to be embarrassed or ashamed about. Any girl that claims they've NEVER caught a whiff of their lady bits is lying. But there is nothing wrong with it.

As for the original question. My pee only smells stronger when I'm beginning to get dehydrated. Though i have read that your body fluids can smell differently during ketosis so that might be the cause. And I don't have the ability to ejaculate so I can't comment on that. Sorry some of these people that call themselves adults act like a 12yr old at the mention of lady bits and sex related stuff.

Wow. If you didn't have a response to the question there's really no reason for you to respond. Or was your point to embarrass me. I have a very active sex life and if someone has the same issue, it's kind of nice to know that you're not alone and that people on thnks board would be kind. Shame on you

I didn't have to do any pre-op diet at all except the day before was just non sugar drinks and non sugar Jello so I commend you all for your dedication! Something that helped me enormously after surgery was using a shaved ice maker. You could eat it plain or drizzle sugar-free gatorade or even clear Protein Drinks on it. You just feel like you are eating and it is so satisfying plus you are getting some liquids in. I had one from wm for years but they also sell them for around 20 on Amazon.

    ***Update***

Guys, I’m so happy I could cry. After really going full scorched earth/raising Cane with Aetna, my dr.s office, and with my employer, I found out today I’m approved. I really can’t believe it. Still don’t have a date but this is fantastic news. Thanks Everyone and I’ll be seeing you online here with probably more questions.
It was not easy, had to complain to the business office supervisor, the surgeon directly, I saved all of my correspondence and had an extensive timeline for everything and named everyone I spoke with at Aetna. If they approved me only to shut me up, I’ll take it.

This from getting initial “Sorry you are denied come pick up your paperwork”. I found out my advocate didn’t know how to file and appeal and that’s why she told me that.

Panda make sure you go to your monthly weigh-in with your doc or wherever you have been going if it is required to do x amount of monthly weigh ins because many ins companies demand they be CONSECUTIVE monthly appts. My pcp stressed that to me. And some months for me were wonky due to my docs vacay schedule or mine. Like making my july appt and then 2 weeks instead of 4 later doing my August appt.

I have lost 33lbs since my surgery date July 31, and I went to see my Dr at Rocky mountain physicians in SLC Utah and my Dr discovered that I have a blockage and so I've been receiving infusions and wed 4th of sep I'll be going to LDS hospital to get a scope and I hope I won't be back into the hospital. I can't eat anything other than liquids I tried last night and I vomited because it would not go down so I decided to have Soup from now on and a Protein shack but my Dr says not to drink your protein to eat your protein but he said it's ok in my case because I need the protein. My current weight is 340 and in the office I was 347 Be Happy!

Now my friends, now you all know. what engenders the sarcastic motto: "AETNA- I wish I had never met ya! " I can only hope there is Special area in Hades for health insurance executives to be placed in . Then when they start screaming for mercy ,we can say " Gee, I'm sorry , but YOU DON'T QUALIFY, and we don't have the time to examine your problem on a case- by- case formula or subject you to,peer review." Yeah, never would happen but I can dream, can't I ?

I got mine 2 weeks early on the day after surgery and then got it several times over the next couple of months. Cysts and fibroids roared their ugly heads so I wound up getting a hysterectomy a few months after my bypass. Not caused by the bypass but I was feeling so happy otherwise that I didnt want to spend a couple years dealing with lady troubles. And I was done with kid having and probably not too far off from menopause anyway.

Thank you! I have been really mad at my body, I just didn't think about it in those terms. I've got kidney stones and a uti so i need to just thank it for hanging in there for me instead of being upset by a stall.

Sweettoothless got a reaction from LizzieMmmkay in Hi everyone! Newbie here...
Get an appt with your pcp before the end of August and then August will count as month 1 even though it is at the end of it. And for your 6th monthly appt, schedule it for the first day of the 6th month and bam you get the 6 months got done in just a couple of days over 4 months. At least my insurance accepted it (BSBC) as 6 monthly consecutive visits even though they weren't each a full 30 days a part. They also accepted my 2 year weight history from a phentermine clinic since I hadn't gone to the regular doc in the 2 years prior.
