    Sweet Tooth - Post Bypass

I keep getting fb pop ups advertising some type of supplement that is supposed to knock out sugar cravings. Google that! I haven't needed to try it but it sounded sciencey.
  3. They should give you some anti-nausea meds. I've been a post surgery vomiter so they gave me a prescription and I didnt throw up or feel nauseous. Focus on what's most important and just try to get fluid in in any way you can, whatever grosses you out the least. All of my protein shakes and clear protein tasted vile to me after surgery so there might be something else you can try. I almost made myself broth popsicles but luckily didnt. That probably would have made me yack!

    Stricture or hernia...oh my

Can you go to a different ER? I'm not medically inclined but it seems to me that not holding liquids down is an emergency.

    Atkins Protein 30g + Fiber Shakes...thoughts?

I didnt even have a pre-op diet at all. I didnt even know people did until I joined this forum after surgery. The only thing I had to do was the day before surgery was liquids and 1 bottle of bubbly laxative water.

    Random Midnight Vomiting?

I've had my gallbladder out and it was a million times better than an attack or worry about an attack. Some people get harsh diarreah afterwards when they eat fats but I was ok. I was young and naive and didnt ask any questions.

    Puking: Post-Op vs. Pre-Op

I hve thrown up 3 times all in the same morning on the day I had my kidney stone attack. I had only maybe 2 spoons of cottage cheese so it was a soft and gentle vomit without churning or contractions. I was so afraid being 16 days out. But it was as soft as a kitten. Lol. The next 2 vomits were just water but they were also gentle and pretty noiseless. I didn't know it was kidney stones until I was seen at the ER. I dont know if food poisoning or flu vomits would be worse. I carry a big ziplock bag in my purse in case I get another kidney stone attack whil out and about.

    Weight Stall Venting

I feel you! I could have lost more on Slimfast! BUT I think the difference here is that we will keep on losing whereas Slimfast weightloss gets regained with a couple of pizza slices! Lmk when you get a whoosh and I will celebrate with you!

Pain 2 weeks after GB surgery

I have been growing my stones for a year (at least the 12mm one) and didn't get back pain all year. That's why I just kept getting diagnosed as pcos or UTI. It hurt but not like labor. Maybe I just had really bad labor to compare it to.

Pain 2 weeks after GB surgery

I had the same pain and it turned out to be kidney stones. Idk if some people feel kidney pain more up front than the back but I sure did. I only had back pain once on Tgiving and I went to the ER because i didn't think it was a kidney stone. I had no other symptoms. One is quite big so it must have been building for awhile. I have pcos so I thought it was that pain all year.

    THEDUTCH

I know right! How simple it would be to say, by the way, you'll be many pounds heavier when you get home don't worry about it. Or they could type it into one of those million papers they hand you on your way out. I think maybe they just don't think about it since many/ most of them haven't had the surgery.

Gastric Bypass - Week 2 Post Op

Panera sells soup in little containers at walmart in the deli section. I got their potato soup and heated a bit up (1/8 cup) then mixed in 1/8 cup plain Greek yogurt. There was only 1 chunk, a potato cube that was easily smashed by a spoon. So good. Baby food was vile. Turkey or chicken breast cuisinarted with green beans. 1/4 cup of plain Greek yogurt topped with a splash of hit sauce and a sprinkle of cumin makes me think I've had a plate of enchiladas oddly enough. Be careful with spice though because some people can't handle it early on. I didn't realize I should be careful with it but luckily I was ok and it only is a little dash. I have always loved cottage cheese so that's my go to. At first I was being really careful of carbs but I wasnt losing and when i added in some carbs (like in the potato soup) (ass well as also getting of antibiotics) i started losing again. I'm still on puree.

    Weight Stall Venting

I hauled butt to my pcp to cry wtf. I lost more weight in month 1 on all the different diet fads I did. I lost 11 pounds in 11 days after surgery then nothing, not a speck for 20 days. THIS IS NOT EVEN SCIENCE LOL! I was on antibiotics back to back for uti and also dealing with kidney stones but I felt so bewildered and ripped off. Then the last 5 days I lost a pound a day for no particular reason except maybe that I added a bit more carbs and fat because that would shake things up when I stalled low carbing before. But I felt the same feelings of panic and disbelief and feeling ripped off.

    Issues with Mucus Buildup Possibly??

It used to happen to me once in a while before wls. Mainly when I was trying eat a sandwich while working or eating plain meat. Then it happened twice at restaurants while eating moist food unhurriedly. I found out after surgery that I had a hernia on my diaphragm (pulling my stomach into my chest) that the surgeon repaired. I wonder if that is what caused it.

Drinking While Eating and Pouch Question

So if you mix protein powder into water, does it slide right through without your body absorbing the protein? Is it better mixed with fair life milk or doesn't that slide through too? Can we ever eat soup again or does the broth slip all the soup bits right on out? I'll ask at my next appt but there are so many different answers and different nutritionist opinions.

    Multivitamin

I am 3.5 weeks out and I just switched to Flintstones for a little while until I can swallow pills. The giant disks of BA chewables just gagged me after a while and they are higher than I want in carbs. Searching for a better calcium because the BA calcium chews are loaded with carbs too.

    Sweets

There are several supplements that are supposed to help stop or control sugar cravings. There are also deficiencies that can cause a yearning for sweets. " Zinc is needed for proper insulin and glucose utilization; a deficiency can also lead to sugar cravings. Supplement with L-glutamine. This amino acid has been found to help reduce, and even eliminate, cravings by helping to steady bloodsugar."

    3 week stall

Thank you! I have been really mad at my body, I just didn't think about it in those terms. I've got kidney stones and a uti so i need to just thank it for hanging in there for me instead of being upset by a stall.

    Stalling Early ON

Thank you! I was freaking out. I lost 11 pounds in 11 days after surgery and then everything halted. Not an ounce lost over the next 14 days. I started a second round of antibiotics for a UTI and also had a kidney stone party on both sides. Wasn't sure if it was the secondary health issues causing the stalls. Still in puree stage so eating very little. I thought it might be the loads of carbs in all of my BA vitamins. I went and bought replacements because I figured 17 carbs a day for vitamins was too much.
  21. Yes with the chicken soup! Get a rotisserie chicken, remove usable meat to use later. Crock pot the bones and scraps along with garlic, celery, and onion (leave the papery skin on the onion) and cook overnight 10 hours or so. Strain and make soup or freeze broth in small portions to use as needed. Look up Medical Medium on fb. He's a little bit health nut but has a lot of helpful sciencey info. Stop into a vitamin store (not GNC, find the hippiest place near you) and let them give you suggestions. Order a medicinal tea book from Amazon, they are pretty cheap. There are a lot of teas that are truly medicinal but you have to have knowledge about them (like some will say don't use for more than a week or not for people with kidney issues.) Also, seek out any sources of mold in your home. We found it once behind some baseboards in my sick son's room. And a second time in a memory foam mattress topper when same son was chronically sick again. I had an immaculate home and it still happened. Have someone do a sniff test if your nose is inflamed and see if they can smell anything.

    2 weeks out complications... ulcers.

You are not negative, you are just venting! And as soon as this is over you'll be back on your road to better health. When faced with a hurdle, I always tell myself "at least it isn't cancer" and it makes me feel better.
  23. I had my bypass on November 5th. I am now absolutely grossed out by anything sweet. It's bizarre because I used to have such a sweet tooth. I can't even bear anything labeled sugar free. I haven't had any actual sugar but the taste of the sugar in sf Gatorade, protein shakes, etc is too much for me. Anyone else get this?

Ladies: How has surgery affected your cycle?

(Surgery Nov 5) I skipped my last 3 periods, went to gyno, no problems other than cysts. I'm 47 so thought maybe things were shutting down. I came home the next day after surgery and kablooey. I told my dietitian at my after appt and she said it happens to loads of women and often times while they are still in the hospital, regardless of where there were in their cycle. I am interested to see how my cycle goes after this.

    Puréed Food Diet

I just started the pureed diet this afternoon! Had 1/4 cup cottage cheese. My plan includes only stage one baby food. I bought one of each meat to have in the pantry if needed, hopefully they don't taste like butt.
