  1. Yet another bowl of random stuff from the fridge: Butter sautéed cremini mushrooms seasoned with garlic salt/pepper/smoked paprika, with diced tomatoes, topped with 1 slice of bacon bits, shaved Parmesan and fresh cilantro (preceded with a coffee martini, not shown): 268 calories. This concoction turned out to be like my favourite thing i’ve eaten in a couple weeks! Sooooo yum...ate it all.
  2. Well it looks delicious to me!

    Telling the Kids

My Kid was 13 when I had the sleeve done. I told her that I was having surgery to help me lose some weight. She literally replied “Oh, ok” and that was pretty much it. I was prepared with a bunch of answers for the questions I anticipated from her, but didn’t even need them *shrugs*. Your kids may or may not react the same way, but i would *think* that if you are prepared to answer/address their questions or concerns honestly and confidently they would trust that you know what you are doing? On the other hand (though I personally wouldn’t recommend it, as keeping WLS a secret from people u live with could be challenging), is NOT telling them an option for you?

I looooooove this dress!!!!!!! I. WANT. IT. Now. It is super flattering for your shape. Can u get it taken in? Sooo pretty. ❤️❤️❤️
  5. Glad all is well and you are on the path to recovery Can't wait to see some pics (if you are comfortable sharing)!
  6. Broccoli cheddar soup. This was the Kid’s bowl. Mine was about 1 cup serving, sans croutons. Ate it all. 268 calories

You look so tall ! 4 days...very exciting! Hope it all goes smoothly! P.S. That bench in the background has some cool legs...is that another one of your creations?
  8. Mons flab yes, but if you are talking lower down, like labia, then no (at least I didn't, some may have a different experience). But yeah, a tummy tuck or mons lift (if that is your plan) will address that nicely. Though plastic surgery or not, the weight loss/loss of bulk makes the usage of the area MUCH better, lol.
  9. Vietnamese noodle bowl (mine has shiratake noodles, the fam got theirs with traditional rice noodles): caramelized ground pork, cucumber, tomatoes & carrots. More nuoc cham sauce in the sode. My serving shown: 246 calories Ate everything except for about half the noodles....

    Scarring

Im a bad scar-er too. Always have been. My scars stay red/raised for a long time, but eventually flatten and turn *almost* back to skin colour...but this takes YEARS. I am two years post op, and my WLS scars are still brown, and one is still raised (don't even talk to me about my plastic surgery scars that are only 10 months old!) Unfortunately aside of proper wound care (keep it clean, keep it moisturized, keep it out of the sun) not much you can really do to influence the way your scars form the way they do. However, you CAN do some "scar maintenance" after the fact (i.e., steroid shots.., surgically excising them in hopes that it will heal nicer...but there are no guarantees to this). The WLS scars are very small though, so unless you suffer from serious keloid formations, they aren't so very stand-out-ish. Edited to add: just remembered something you else can do to aid in better healing: DON'T SMOKE! (at least that is what both my wls and plastic surgeon said...)
  11. The lifting may be an issue. From what i’ve read and been told, they do not recommend lifting anything heavier that 10lbs for the first 4 weeks (at least)... Not sure about abdominal binder either...i didn’t wear one, but maybe others who have can weigh in...

Was such an unexpectedly beautiful day yesterday (23 degrees, probably the last nice day until 2021), that I got Mr. to drive us around to nowhere so I could turn up the music and wind the windows and sunroof down. Wore stuff from my new pile of hand me downs. The Kid calls this top her old “frolicking” top. Said it made her want to skip around. I totally get what she means. P.S. Im cheating by tippy toeing in this pic cuz i was too lazy to go get my shoes downstairs and bring then up again for this pic. Just pretend im wearing 2.5 inch wedges!

    New Tastebuds

My preferences for things remain the same pretty much. Though i do find that i have a lower tolerance for spicy foods. Also, my pre-op level of sweetness acceptability has reduced. I'm 2 years post op.

Hand-me-down SCOoooooooooooRE! The Kid cleaned out her closet (again) and filled a garbage bag with clothes that she doesn't wear anymore. Naturally, I went through it and put a few pieces in my closet cuz these clothes are still good, man. And bonus points that they fit me, lol. Here's a pic of 3 pairs of jeans that I poached. For funsies, I got my biggest pair of pants currently in my closet for comparison. Now these PJ pants aren't even as big as my biggest pants (I recently cleaned out my own closet and donated all my big clothes so no pic for comparison)...these leopard print pj pants were actually part of my previous horde of "skinny clothes"! At my biggest, they were too small to go over my hips/stomach. Craziness.

    Revision completed

Perhaps some of it may have to do with Pandemic? My alcohol consumption increased dramatically since March. I’ve been trying (albeit not very hard) to deal with it by keeping it out of the house. I find if there’s none around, then I can go without just fine. Problem is I eventually go out to get some. Boredom, I think.
  20. Same. Same. My how things have changed.
  21. I would have but I wanted to eat my ice cream! But since you asked: 3.38 tbsp, 50 cubic centimetres...😎 None so far, but I don't anticipate any as I had a very small amount and I ate some broccoli beforehand. lol
  22. This is how I eat ice cream post-op. 50 ml at a time (i.e, 1.7 fl oz OR 1/5 of a cup). 50ml of Haaggen Daaz Coffee Ice cream: 107 calories.

    I'm Doing It!

Of everything really: what you expect to lose, how you expect to feel, what foods you expect to eat, how you expect people to treat you. I read alot of posts on here with peeps dealing with stress and anxiety due to a host of things they thought would happen, but didn't. Though your posts read like you are the type of person who can take this stuff in stride...I suspect you'll do great ❤️

Pre-op it was Optifast, and I could only get them either from my surgeon or from the Bariatric Clinic Office at HRH (I got mine from my surgeon). POST-op I used Isopure Dutch Chocolate (powder) exclusively...i found this was the least sweet of all the powders I tried. I blended it up with water, ice, a tsp of decaf instant coffee crystals and 2 tsps of Benefibre. In the mornings I may add a capful of Miralax if I was backed up (which happened often!). I also had some Isopure Unflavoured to add to food. I got these online from https://www.bodybuilding.com/en-CA/index , found this to be cheapest, even with the conversion and shipping costs. The giant tub (with the handle) is the best value. But maybe try a sample first before you commit to such a large amount (my husband drinks it too, so it was worth it for us). My surgeon was XXXX. Had 7 follow ups with him (1 day, 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, 1 year). Again very uneventful. In and out really (I did not have any complications nor issues with weight loss). He's great. It was kind of a downer to have to go so far for so short an appt (I'm in north T.O., he's at Sheppard West), and his office was always very busy, so I often had to wait past my scheduled appt time to see him. Not really a big deal, but worth noting. There is no plan to see him again, but I was told to give them a call if I ever find the need to (I haven't). Edited to add: I put my surgeons name, but just removed it. Figure maybe I should DM you this info instead, lol...I sent it to your mailbox. Edit to add, part deux: I should mention that there are also (separate) follow ups with the clinic at HRH (1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, 2 years). My next scheduled appt will be next year at my 3 yr anniversary...i actually have no idea how long these will go for. I see the Nurse and the Dietician at these follow ups. I get my labs done, then they adjust vitamin regimen if needed, as well advise me on my reported eating. Personally, I don't get anything out of these follow-ups in terms of dietary advice that I don't already know. But getting my labs done is good. Also it sucks to have to drive all the way there and pay $25 for parking.
