What a jerk! You know, you have gotten this far to let an Ahole that doesn't know you tell you these things...I know you felt horrible as I had my share of negative people around and now the feeling but I learned that they can say what they want and it doesn't matter, because you're doing your thing and minding your own business...everybody is different, we all lose at a different pace, there's no ONE fits all here! He should've known better being a doctor...my doctor told me that I have 100 pounds to lose but he also said to not expect crazy weight loss because I don't have a lot to lose and my metabolism is slow...so lets do this, TOGETHER! We got your back! We'll get there, no matter the pace!

    OCTOBER SLEEVERS CHECK IN HERE

I was sleeved on 10/30/18, had some respiratory complications, aside from that, the surgery was a walk in the park. I’m 4 weeks post-op today and lost 17 lbs since surgery and 27 lbs since pre-op diet. I feel I need to exercise more frequently as I hit a 10-day stall now and don’t know what to do. I am having 700-800 calories a day and 70-80 grans of protein, drink 64 oz of water but my exercise routine is very unpredictable: there are weeks I work out most of the days and others I don’t...losing motivation and that can’t happen...how do you guys keep motivated and a positive mindset?

    October 2018 Sleevers

hahahaha...my doctor didn't clear or anything because I developed asthmatic bronchitis, then acute bronchitis and pleuritic inflammation on right lung right after the surgery, I was pretty much in and out of ER until last week, the worst pain ever on my lungs and still feel a lot of pain even though the bronchitis went away I am still dealing with little inflammation on that right side. I'll call my doctor just to double check but I think I should be ok lol. Thanks

Good morning fellow sleevers. I am 4 weeks postop and have a question about sex. Have you guys be cleared or had sex with no problem at the 4-week mark? My husband is going crazy spending that much time without lol.

    2 Weeks Post-Op - Full Esophagus?

I'll be 4 weeks post-op tomorrow and still have problems with potatoes. I have to eat very little like 1 tbs mixed in beans or soup to not feel anything...I tried mixing 2 tbs in 1/2 cup of beans a couple days ago and felt horrible, like I had this huge thing in my stomach all the way up my throat...I love potatoes but will stay clear from it a few more weeks. BTW, what app do you use as a signature? Happy scale?

I am the worst person to take pictures ever lol...I forgot to take a before full body to compare but I was a size 20 and am now 16 🙌. I got “before” pics bow after losing 25 lbs but at least the face pic I have from right before surgery thanks to my 4-year-old girl that loves taking pics hahaha...1 month difference below.

I was feeling a little hungry with the 4-5 meals a day plan my doc recommended so I started eating more frequently, every 2-3 hours and is always lean protein first, I usually have a protein shake for breakfast, 1/4-1/2 cup of 1% cottage cheese for snack, ricota/zucchini bake for lunch, protein jello (While making sugar free jello I mixed in protein powder) and protein soup or protein mashed potatoes for dinner. I average 80g of protein and 700 calories a day. I also drink 64oz of water a day just keep my water bottle next to me and sip all day. My nutritionist said that 700 calories is fine and protein also fine, she's not concerned I'm getting over 60g because it's lean protein and I exercise. I found that meal prepping is key, I plan and prep on Sunday and have the whole week's meals prepped and divided on separate containers so I just need to heat it up and am good to go. That keeps me on track.

@deltadentist I did start walking on the treadmill a few times a week for 40-50 min. You?

He said that if I lost over 50% of my excess weight, the surgery was a success and that revisions could be done if I didn't achieve the 50% which I think will be unlikely since I've already lost 21% at 3 weeks post-op. If I lose 50% I'll be extremely happy and I understand that this is entirely up to me to lose all the 100%.

    October 2018 Sleevers

My surgeon recommended the bypass because I have acid reflux but I picked the sleeve because it doesn't mess with our anatomy so much, but he said that if I don't loose 50% of my weight at the end of 12 months I should consider bypass because the surgery wasn't successful. I have lost 21% of my excess weight so far and doing the math, I think I'll surpass the 50% and hopefully reach my personal goal weight by 1 year...I think we are just a little anxious and wanting the weight to come off in no time but we will get there. This journey is all about, changing your mindset, habits and lifestyle, the surgery was just the push for us to get there...we can do this!

    October 2018 Sleevers

Thanks for the input. I am gonna try to have t least 6 meals today and see how it goes. My doctor says to have 5 meals a day being 3 meals and 2 snacks all below 200 calories and 5g of fat or less. I eat 4-5 times and feel hungry, I think I need more because I wake up at 5am and go to bed at 10-11pm plus walk 50 minutes on the treadmill. I'll definitely try the 6 meals or more today...Thanks

Thanks, do you eat every 2-3 hours? I feel I do better if I have 5-6 small meals a day too.

Good morning everyone, I hope you all are feeling amazing 🙂 I am on the soft food stage and was wondering how much food you guys eat. I have 1/4 to 1/2 cup and do feel hungry an hour or so later. Also, do you feel hungry? My doctor said I’m not supposed do feel hungry but I do. I’m a little embarrassed to tell him though 🙈 just concerned that I picked the wrong surgery

You lost 50 pounds in less than a month?! Kudos to you! Sorry that you had to go through a lot of complications, hope you’re feeling better now. I started on soft food but ate some solid with some sort of sauce on it and it’s been fine. I felt very tired the first few days due to lack of water, but now I am doing everything I’m supposed to with no problem. I did have some trouble with mashed potatoes that got me sweaty and feeling like I had a ball in my tummy almost threw up, other than that fine. I do feel hungry even though the doctor said I wouldn’t 🤷‍♀️ I was sleeved on 10/30 and have lost 17 pounds since.

    October 2018 Sleevers

@kata0683 I am going through the same thing. Was sleeved on 10/30 and lost 14 pounds. I haven’t list an ounce since the 13th and am a bit worried. I increased my food intake since I am eating soft foods now but haven’t lost anything since I started this new stage...I am having a protein shake in the morning, 1/2 cup of 1% cottage cheese for am snack, 2 egg white with fat free cheese for lunch, 1/4 cup of beans pm snack and anothe protein shake for dinner. Drinking 60-64oz of water and nothing. Maybe I should amp up the exercise 🤷‍♀️ any tips are appreciated.

Post op pain - be honest

Surgery was a walk in the park for me. I didn't feel any pain or nausea, didn't need any pain or nausea meds, was walking on day 1 and totally independent. My issue though was that I had a cough before surgery and that developed into acute bronchitis and asthma which screwed me...I had to stay an extra couple of days because my oxygen level were too low in the 79% range, my lungs were wheezing and squeaking and my cough was so violent that I couldn't bare the pain on my lungs. I am 17 days post-op and only getting rid of the bronchitis now 🙌.

    2 Weeks Post-Op - Full Esophagus?

I had very liquidy mashed potatoes with unflavored protein in and after a few spoons, I felt that I had swallowed a brick! Started salivate like crazy, thought I was going to throw up. Very uncomfortable. I think potatoes don’t sit well with most of WLS patients. My nutritionist said that potatoes are very harsh and starchy, that most of her patients have some kind of problem with it.
