  1. Day 6 (oops) - picture of someone that makes me smile... my niece! She is a wild crazy 3 year old who melts my heat, makes me laugh, smile, and is a huge motivator to be healthy. I want to be around to be active with her and be there for her and her sister.

Day 7 - favorite item of clothing. Well, it was this cute dress with my favorite flower on it. But I can't wear it in the winter, and it's way too big now. Hopefully this summer I'll get to go shopping and find a new favorite outfit!

No junk food challenge: I failed on day 6 and today my SO's mom sent see's candy and I had one the first day without even thinking. Today I gave in and had another piece before telling my SO he needed to either eat it or take it to work. This is why we don't have these things in the house, like at all; my control is weak, and I know this.

30 day challenge: it helps having someone text you to ask if you've done it yet! 20190207_133218.jpeg 20190207_132614.jpeg

  2. Day 5! Picture of something that makes me smile... snow. I love snow, it is my happy place and I love seeing my pups and nieces play in it!
No Junk food Challenge day 5?
Feb Ab challenge day 5?... well, this one evolved into a 30 day challenge with my girlfriend. I caught myself up and am on day 5, so technically...

  3. Day 4! Have someone take a picture of you laughing- I hate how I look when laughing, so I'm going to pass on this one. My face gets all squishy and eyes look weird and I have 3 chins that I'm still self conscious about.

    No Junk food Challenge?
Feb Ab Challenge day ? I have to break this up... no way I can do 20 sit ups in 1 go... I think I'd cry

  4. SUPERBOWL SUNDAY IS TOUGH BECAUSE OF TREATS ... HOW IS EVERYONE DOING?

Got lucky here! Super supportive family so we have healthy Snacks of peanuts, cheese, salami, pickles, ham and cheese roll ups with lemonade and teas for drinks! They are eating pizza, but I can't eat that with CD anyway so no temptation there. Hope everyone else is doing okay! You guys got this, this is a tough day!

  5. Day 3! Favorite body part... my butt! It's the one thing I have always loved because my legs and but have stayed pretty firm and muscular no matter how much weight I've gained. So I'm hoping it'll stay in shape as I continue to lose and not deflate, that's one of my biggest fears!
No Junk food Challenge? I have had very few temptations as of yet luckily!
Feb Ab Challenge day 3? I am feeling it today, that's for sure!

  6. So for day 2, reality has kind of slapped me in the face. I am not the young girl who, when I last weighed this much, was working out twice a day. My muscles are nonexistent and I'm having to start from scratch. So February goals have changed to: the no junk food challenge, Feb Ab challenge, and self love. With that, running, and my weekly hikes it'll be hard to not be overwhelmed. For today's self love - I chose my "Care bear cheeks" they run in my family from my moms side. I got teased for them all the time and use to hate them, but now I love them!20190202_201317.jpeg

  7. Hi everyone! Well, I'm starting this February off at 181.2! I lost 2.2 pounds overnight! So with that in mind... I'm hoping to see the 160's by March! I aimed low last month so I'm aiming high this month! I have 3 work out challenges, I included the first 2 weeks of each for now, I'll cross off 2 tomorrow in case anyone wants to use it. It's a core work out, an ab workout, and a full body work out. I'm going to strive to hit these all each day, one at a time, 7 min at a time, and hopefully still get my run in 3 days a week! I'm ready to spring into February and hit milestones! I want to feel proud that I busted my butt before Hawaii so I wont fell too bad when I slack off for a week! 20190201_061739.jpeg 20190201_070221.jpeg

  8. SIMPLE SURVEY TIME!!!
    How was this challenge?
I loved this challenge! It takes 21 days to make or break a habit, and this challenge got me in the habit of getting on here more. Learning from others, enjoying the journey, embracing the "during" of this weight loss adventure. Plus it gave me a new daily objective, which I needed! I'm excited to grow it into February!

  9. Well... we've reached day 31! The last day of January... so now time for update pictures! It's really hard for me to see the difference, I mean really hard. I take solace in the fact that those scrub bottoms don't fit anymore. And as of this morning I'm 12 freaking pounds down! That put me in the mood to run, if you can't tell by my attire lol. See you all in February! 20190131_063324.jpeg 20190131_063242.jpeg 20190131_060926~2.jpeg

  10. Late is better than never! I took the picture on the 1st so I can compare at the end of the year!

    2) My January Goal is to get into the 180's, I'm currently 194.2 so I'm hoping for at least a 5 lbs loss this month.

    3) 2019 goals is to hike a new and moderate to hard trail every week, so 52 total. Also to run a 5K. I use to run them before I gained all my weight back, so I want to smash my old times2089076108_20190102_2225592.thumb.jpeg.5da12755f0ab4aaac186ffbe1d41e1b4.jpeg 229294991_20190102_2226052.jpeg.a38795ec36fef56059ea12c047c0ba2b.jpeg

    Jan. 30th - Goals update!

Well, my goal was to get into the # 180's, and I did it! Today I weighed in at # 183.4 lbs!! That's a loss of 10.8 pounds! Hopefully tomorrow I'll be down even more! And so far in January I have hiked a new hike every week! I'm glad I aimed small though because those 11 pounds were hard work! I'm excited for the February challenge to see how much I can shed before my trip to Hawaii in March! I am on week 4 of my C25K, and so excited for my first race in a few months.

This has been a great month and I'm so grateful for this challenge for keeping me on my toes and distracted. I've loved watching all of your journeys, and I can't wait to join you in the February challenge!

  11. Day 29- website/apps

I am an addict of pinterest y'all! I think all my recipes I've used these last few months have come from there. They have tons of "keto" recipes, which I use because of CD. But I also make tons of other options that I can substitute for GF products. Best part is I can build the recipe in Myfitnesspal! So I input the ingredients and servings, and it calculates everything for me. I always get nervous when a serving is close to 400 calories... but then I remember that's for 1 cup of food. I'm lucky if I can ever eat more than 1/4 a cup! And yes... I will serve everyone so I can know the exact portion configuration. Then weigh my food so I know I don't get more than 3 oz on my plate. Then of course fitbit, as I have an ionic and it's amazing. Plus it syncs with myfitnesspal! Those are my 3 recommendations lol

  12. 28: overcoming obstacles - my hardest obstacle, other than eating enough, is fighting my own brain. I've been running and hiking, but right now my head isn't in it. It's becoming more and more of a struggle. I "think" it's because my energy level is in the toilet, thanks to the IV, I'm bloated as heck, and am fighting that constant battle in my head. It's a battle of knowing I need to, and want to, but that old inner voice that says to put it off and just let the lack of energy take over.

  13. Day 27- current struggle? Getting enough calories and keeping up my sodium. I ended up in the ED after getting dizzy, lightheaded, and collapsing at work. Once again my sodium had tanked. Got some fluids and electrolytes and went back to work. This is a struggle I hate, it's dangerous and difficult to keep up, as propel or Gatorade makes me bloat so bad. and I don't use salt when I cook

  14. Eating out? I try to stick to an omelette, fish, chicken. Honestly I can count on one hand how many times I’ve gone out to eat since surgery. Seems like a total waste of money now
This is essentially me for day 26 as well! I normally stick to just ordering a side, like an egg and sausage. Way cheaper and I can usually finish it since it's maybe 2 oz! There are some places that offer a side of grilled fish too, so maybe 4 oz, I never finish but at least I don't feel like I'm wasting money

  15. #ThrowbackThursday this is me in Yemen in 2002. I didn't know it at the time but I was pregnant (ended up having a miscarriage but then went on to have my beautiful girly). I went to study Arabic and I found the most generous, kind friendly people. My heart breaks with the current Western-backed Saudi demolition of that beautiful country. One day I will return in sha' Allah.

Returning one day is a great goal! I'm so glad you had that opportunity to go and be there. And I'm so glad you have your rainbow baby now! Congratulations

  16. Day 24- #throwbackthursday

I had lost 70 pounds on my own before I got sick. I was doing mud runs, snowboarding, scuba diving, and learning to rock climb. I throw back to these days because they are my motivation! I WILL go back to enjoying life. I will climb again. I will dive again. I'm on the right side of this recovery and an adventurous future to strive for20190124_062411-COLLAGE.jpeg

  17. Day 23! I can hardly believe it! So today is Top workout tip...

    KEEP GOING!!!

Doesn't matter if you're using every modification, doesn't matter if your running pace is 1mph faster than walking, doesn't matter if there are no weights on the bar. Keep going. You CAN do it. Don't let the negative voices in your head win. Use your today to work on mastering what you modified yesterday. Teach your brain to say "Yes I can, I can do this" and squash the "I can't do this! I'm too...(tired, painful, sleepy, hungry...) you do have this! I have faith in all of you! Keep going!

  18. Day 22! - music that gets me moving!

I always start my workout with this song by Kate Voegele- Sweet Silver Lining

It was my motivation when I first began my weight loss journey, it has been my theme song ever since. Then I bust out my spotify running playlists. These are fund help me enjoy running and help me keep up my walking pace at work!

  19. Day 21! My biggest support?

My SO David is hands down my biggest supporter. We met online through a dating site, and just clicked, now we are going on year 4. He was with me after I had lost a lot of weight because of my gallbladder. He stayed when I gain a lot of weight thanks to my thyroid and other medical issues. I have had 3 surgeries in these 3 years and he was there holding my hand throughout it all. His favorite line to tell me is "I love you is a 6 word phrase. I love you... no matter what." And he has. He supported me getting back into running and bought me new running shoes. He supported me wanting to hike 52 hikes this year, one every week, and has gone with me through mud, hills, and being "out of shape" himself. My brother and momma are a close second, but this man... he lifts me up and shows me his love constantly. Meeting online CAN work, we love each others souls and no matter what holds firm!

  20. No judging here, my Water and net carbs goals are whistling in the wind, but have you thought of putting your Vitamins in a container near your kettle (or somewhere you visit often). I have a weekly pill container where the days are separated out so every morning I see last night's empty container and swap it for the new day's and start taking my meds and vitamins. Then coz I go to the kettle I see it during the day and remember.

My vitamins are liquid and kept in the fridge. I am hardly in there anymore so that's why I forget so easy... I started setting reminders so hopefully it'll help lol.

In other news lol, today is day 19 - when I DO remember to take my vitamins, I take Mary Ruth's daytime and nighttime liquid vitamins. I went over them with my NUT and Dr and the only downside/ question they had was that each one has 8g of carbs per serving. Sad ( or not so sad?) part is... that still keeps me well under their goal of 50g of carbs so they are okay to take. I love the liquid vitamins over pills. Pills sit like rocks in my stomach, and these are GF so with having CD I don't have to worry. Which is super nice!20190119_180330~2.jpeg

  21. Hi all! So I had my 3 month follow up on the 17th! They had me down 40.7 lbs from my surgery weight! Dr was really happy with me since all of my labs came back normal, everything was within range and looked great! With being diagnosed with CD prior to surgery, it was good to see all my inflammatory response labs were now normal again too! It was a good day overall. We also talked about how my body was different and what I have been eating and all my goals. For starters: I maybe get 30g of Protein a day, around 20g of carbs a day, and I don't take my Vitamins. I drink Kombucha to keep my gut moving on the regular, and propel in my Water to keep my sodium and potassium up. They were on the lowest level of normal anyway since I have so little sodium in my diet. He also told me I need to snack, and eat every 2-3 hours because my average calorie intake is around 700, and he agreed that wasn't enough for all my activities. My hair isn't falling out, I haven't been constipated, I haven't "stalled" for more than 3 days, and my blood protein levels were perfect. I am different from you. You are different from everyone else. No ones journey is the same, and what works for some doesn't work for others. For example, my longest stall of 2 weeks was when I was hitting my protein goals daily. But I was drinking it. My body doesn't do well with Meal Replacement shakes or Protein Shakes. It does great with meats, cheese, nuts, and food products. So now we wait for my 6mo appointment, and he wants to see me down another 20 lbs. That'll put me in the 160's and be my lowest weight in my adult life. Darn good goal, and I'm going to fight for it! Good luck on your journey everyone!
