5 years post op and have huge REGRET!

No issue at all here with RNY but only 9 months out
  4. Hopefully your liver actually does shrink but you'll need to stop the junk food.... As above you'll need to completely change the way you eat for surgery or your surgery will be a waste of time mate. Throw out all the bad foods. Go buy good food and protein shakes... You need low carb. Low sugar. Healthy food now if you don't change your surgery won't help...
  5. I would ring your actual insurance first up then find out if you can even schedule a nutritionist straight away sometimes you have a wait list... It's all up to insurance not her, they are the ones paying and approving everything...

    Protein shakes

Hey I'm in Australia too. I get my powder online all the time via aminoz.com.au they usually have good deals and quick delivery. I've been using scitec nutrition 100% whey for like a year now they are very good quality and nutritional values and I've lost plenty of weight on it. I buy powder in bulk like 2kgs or more

Well I've lost alot of width/circumference off my legs and my shoe size even went down a whole size... My legs were always big but still had muscle because obviously takes muscles to carry my obese body... Now my legs are much smaller but no skin issues there...

  17. Well I hope everyone is feeling good. Here in Australia in my state we are pretty much virus free thank God. Most of our shops are open and life is getting back to normal.. It is the middle of winter so been in front of the heater and just feeling good realising my BIRTHDAY is coming this Sunday... This year has gone so quickly. I'm 9 months post op and feeling amazing and just feeling appreciation for where I am in life right now and it's the first birthday in like 20 years I've felt this good and finally starting to love myself again. i do still have some anxiety issues and self esteem issues which I've just started seeing a new psych so that should help me transition to the new me. I know I look good and I feel good and I get compliments from strangers which is nice but it takes time to gain confidence and to be able to put yourself out there and meet someone.. My health is great. My weight is good but my life is not complete until I start a family 😁 Just the other day someone thought I was 30 which feels good since I'll be 36 this weekend but feel 26 😁 I also want people to know that the bypass RNY has done amazing things for me and to not feel scared, to have confidence in your DECISION. I've lost all my excess weight and kept it off and happy with myself. It takes alot of commitment, you cannot slack off, you cannot give in, you have to be ready to change your life and change your way of thinking!!! Anyway i know there's a few people who can't handle my humour or my personality but that's fine, I have plenty of family and friends who love me for me and that's what counts!! I LOVE ME TOO. SO HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME. i will treat myself for my birthday I think I've earnt that. Thank you.
  18. Well guys this is my monthly check in or check up. i hope I'm able to offer some inspiration to those who are yet to have surgery or still deciding. But I have got to say this roux en Y gastric bypass operation has saved my life!!! It's officially 9 months since I had my surgery here in Australia and it has been amazing, a breeze, no issues at all and lost weight consistently every month. I've been in maintenance now 3 months pretty much with my weight sitting on average 165lbs but I've also seen 163,164 and 165. i still weigh myself most days; it's a habit. i don't worry about logging my food but I do keep a mental note of my intake calories; I still use shakes most days as some days I'm not hungry but others day I am really hungry... I can eat mostly anything without any major issues and my weight has not changed at all which is great. So 9 months since surgery and 11 months since preop diet. Feeling amazing; looking great; starting to feel confident finally and my birthday coming very soon. Had to buy some more clothes once again even though my weight isn't changing I think my body composition is changing like overtime your skin may retract and I think mine is doing it naturally or via gravity either way it's Great. 159lbs lost at my lowest weight but as I said my weight can vary a few lbs from day to day. I'll be 36 very soon but I look and feel 26 and can't wait to start living life and finding a lovely lady. My journey is over but I still have to keep focused and make sure I monitor my weight for the long term. i just want to say it is possible to be successful. It is possible to lose ALL your excess weight and keep it off... Thank you. Photos attached Positive feedback appreciated.
  19. Yes we must celebrate our successes
  20. I met with the surgeon a few times he explained each surgery in detail but I had already made up my mind to have the RNY bypass... He gave me some papers to read but I did tons of online research and months on this website to learn everything I needed.... Did see a dietitian once but she was clueless so I did it myself and it has worked out well... These days with access to Google and the www are able to find whatever we want... Not like the old days going to library hunting for out of date books LOL

Have lost way too much weight

@Arabesque totally understand. I'm male 6ft tall I've been maintaining between 74-75kgs; I never thought I'd get this low my original goal was like 82kgs. but as you've said there will most likely be some regain over the next few years so I don't mind being slightly under goal weight I'm only 9 months out from surgery so it's still early days..

    Weight gain.....

I must also be one of a kind who didn't use the "pandemic" as a reason to slack off. I adapted and changed and still kept my weight off....
