Check out the BariatricPal Store. TONS of foods on there quick to make for the puree stage, including soups. They are all pre-portioned and the right carbs/fat/cals. I had Campbell's condensed cream of chicken 2 weeks out and GOT SO SICK. I had the cream of broccoli at 3 weeks, and got mildly sick. Most people say it's fine for them.

I enjoyed cauliflower Soup (pureed with a stick blender), also from the store: Roasted Red Pepper soup, carrot and ginger soup. I didn't worry about any macros at this point. It was most important to get your stomach to start progressing through different types of foods. Soups count toward your liquid totals for the day.
Personally, I found any soup with blended meat in it to have a disgusting texture, but a lot of people don't seem to mind it.

Congratulations on your diet progression. I had GB surgery 11/29 and am still on liquids. My Dr office provided samples of Unjury Soup packets. I’ve had the chicken noodle and it’s really tasty. Good luck with your journey. I’ll follow you Since we have close surgery dates.
BTW-how do you add your stats on the left?

Just had RNY on 11/28 and will be starting Week 2 - pureed foods. My diet guide from the surgeon and nutritionist lists scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, yogurt and pureed Soups. Any ideas for good pureed soups - either to buy or recipes? Should I be really careful of fat grams, carbs, etc.?

Thank you for your wisdom Matt! I actually let myself cry for a few minutes, dried my eyes and then said out loud "You are strong and you can do this". Amazing when you say it out loud. Seems to let your head and heart really hear it.

Hi well I'm starting a new journey also. 9 years ago I had a lap band and 11/13 I had that removed. I am scheduled for bypass in Feb. after the healing. After all this you would think that I would not be apprehensive NOT TRUE. The lap band was a horrible failure. I have kept off between 40 and 50 pounds over the years, but I am still morbidly obese. I have had had that title most of my 66 years. What was funny when they took me into surgery and I moved over to the operating table I looked up and saw the robotic stuff and thought "What the Hell am I doing here, just get up and go home". However I am in for the long haul and talked myself down off the cliff. I know I will not fail this time. I am motivated, I can diet, and I can lose weight these things I know. The unknown is how do I incorporate this new tool (gastric bypass) to really improve my life. Like so many others I know I will learn and this time really succeed. God Bless You and I will Pray for you. Stay in touch and let me know all the ins and outs and maybe we can support each other. Wanda

Yup, and they can be quite powerful. Just keep yourself focused on all the reasons why you wanted the surgery. You will more than likely have a few more instances pre-op... and then post-op. It's really just the stress of the whole ordeal taking it's toll. Sounds like you've got a good grasp on reality vs emotional distraction. Congrats and Good Luck!

So I've been chugging on through these pre-op diet days. I'm in day 7 and all of a sudden, I feel emotional. Sad, anxious. I think it may be a bit of PMS but I also imagine it has something to do with change in diet. Believe me, I'm motivated with my eyes on the prize, RNY scheduled for 11/28. But this sad feeling came from nowhere. Anyone else deal with some emotions during the pre-op diet phase?

So, I waited until today, Day 3 of the liquid pre-op diet, to post. Yesterday was awful. Total lack of concentration at work, perpetual headache, hunger....Then today. It's like a switch went off. I feel energized, positive. Still a bit of a headache but nothing like yesterday. I can do this!! How did everyone else do on their dreaded pre-op diet? Did you ever want to cheat? If I had been asked that question yesterday, I think I would have answered differently. Today, I know I can stay on course. I need to do this for me. Cheating would only be hurting myself and this whole journey is about finally loving and respecting myself! WHOOHOO!!

Congratulations, you got this. By far the hardest part is the liquid diet. I had 2 weeks of it, then 1 day before surgery clear liquid only. You got this .

Made it. Pain is no joke and meds causing nausea almost threw up three times but got the nausea under control. Egd and swallow test tomorrow - can’t wait - my reward is ice chips. Walked once and boy it hurt but wow I felt tons better after.

    Thanks for the wishes.

irol888 reacted to Matt Z in When did you start seeing big weight loss?
First and foremost, worry about healing first. 8 days out is far too soon to be worrying about how fast you may or may not lose. Also, literally everyone is different. No 2 people, even twins, is going to gain and lose the same way. My loss since revision, has been very steady and consistent.

Can we just start a thread for us November bypassers? Mine is November 1st! Please feel free to spill your guts over your fears and excitements! I'd love to have the support knowing we're doing this together, even if we are physically far away.
I have 150lbs to lose and I am anxious to see those pounds go! My goal is to reach my goal weight within 24 months. I know it can happen much sooner than that, but I want to give myself a far out goal-date so I don't get too upset if it doesn't come off as fast as I hope. I hope to spend my 32nd birthday at 140lbs! My birthday is November 24th, so this is the best 30th birthday present I could give myself.
