I ate salad at six-7 weeks, you should have an outline or chart for food progression.
I agree with GreenTea, caution always with eating something new when away from home base.
I tolerated lots of Soups at that stage with no issue.

It's entirely individual but I caution against trying something the first time away from home. Enjoy the outing!

irol888 reacted to Matt Z in Confessional - Lets post our cheats/confessions/etc so others can see that we are all human
I figured it would be nice to have a section where we could just confess to some of the potentially dumb things we've done, pre or post op. Just so others can see we are all human. I want this to be kept as civil as possible, where people can own up to things without anyone else chiming in with anything negative, we all know what we did wasn't "right" but I'm sure we ALL have done something we shouldn't have.

    I'll start.

I cheated on my pre-op diet a few times. I also like to find loop holes and exploit the crap out of them. I drank beer for a week+ on my pre-op, because it didn't say I couldn't. I only stopped after I was forced to, because my wife asked my surgeon and of course they said "no"... boo. I also ate a whole slice of French meat Pie at my Dad's 60th birthday luncheon.

I cheated on my post-op diet/puree stage a bit too. I ate rice cakes and Protein chips or other veggie chips. Not a lot, but it happened. I "pureed" a steak and cheese sandwich once. I ate a few fried ravioli on my puree stage as well.

This past weekend, I had a beer. My wife and I took my parents out to dinner at a local casino, it's Restaurant week, so we found a good looking location and went out to eat, part of the deal was that you got a draft beer with your meal. So, I had a shipyard summer ale with my grilled chicken parm sandwich (only ended up eating 3 bites of the chicken and none of the bread).

I did all that thus far and nothing bad happened.
I understand the changes are to ensure we stick to our diets, but understanding that we are all human and WILL either slip up or just stray from our diets on purpose like I did. It's good to see that, it's possible to still live and be able to enjoy a few things we "shouldn't" without any negatives happening.

    So, what's your WLS confession?

Hi! I’m 54 and just had RNY on 11/28/18 - a little over 3 weeks ago. I’m doing great! With all the pre-testing, the Dr and team will make sure your a candidate for the surgery. Age is just a number!

So today I am meeting friends out at a restaurant for the first time since my gastric bypass. I'm nearing 4 weeks post-op and tolerating solid foods and doing really well getting my Protein in each day. I'm preparing before I go to the restaurant and going to drink a Protein Shake before. Planning to order grilled chicken skewers (thai dipping sauce on the side and may be too sweet to use). I want to order the arugula beet salad but not sure about tolerating the arugula since I hear salad isn't doable until after 6 months? Any info?

Tomorrow marks eight weeks since I've had my surgery. I'm down 60 pounds. That number seemed huge to me this morning, whereas the ones before it were a little surreal. But 60 pounds? That's a second grader! My face is looking like my face again. I'm super tall, so 60 pounds on me looks like less than a smaller woman. Here I am in all my dirty hair, makeup-less glory...

    I started this journey @ 470lbs. I'm 8 1/2 weeks post op and today I weighed in at 399lbs!

This word is for all the pre-op/recent surgery folks. Stick with it...Follow the steps. It's more than worth it.
Good luck and God bless us all on this journey!

I just can't reiterate enough on how glad I am that I decided to have surgery!!! My journey started in June of 2017, that's when I decided to go with the gastric bypass. I had to wait for a whole year before I actually had surgery, due to not being able to keep my weight down🤷🏾‍♀️. I finally had surgery in June 2018 and it has been the best decision I could have made to regain control of my body and my life. I thought it would take close to a year, to get near my goal weight. However, to my amazement i'm only 19 lbs., away from my goal weight now‍♀️!!! Since my journey began up until now, I have lost 113 lbs.! I have noticed that my metabolism has sped up and I now have to have about 5 small meals through the day. My food digest's really fast now and i'm okay with that. I'm so happy that I can be active and do things that I haven't done in many years. It feels awesome to go shopping and not‍♀️ have to go in the plus sized(goodbye size 26) section anymore

So, I’m 3 weeks post-op RNY. I made a dinner a few nights ago with a scrambled egg, 1/2 slice of high Protein toast and a Morning Star meatless sausage. All within the realm of good food. However, I made the mistake of not waiting long enough after drinking some Water. I finished not even half before the pain hit. That was the first time feeling the restriction. Ouch!! But it was a needed lesson! Follow the guidelines and no drinking 1/2 before/at least 1 hour after!

Your pouch will demand respect, Precious still keeps me pistol-whipped and she's now more than 3 months old, 3 months-15 days to be exact. Like Rumpole of the Bailey " she is who must be obeyed", and when all else fails its back to the one-ounce cups for me!

Hi all, I just had my surgery on Monday. After surgery, I kept drinking too much Water because I was walking through the desert thirsty. My brain said keep drinking but my new plumbing said slow down! I think i'm finally getting the hang of sipping out of the one ounce cups. That's a tough lesson to learn.

So I'm 19 days post-op RNY and doing great! Just started to eat more solid foods after my visit with my surgeon. He said I'm right on with weight loss - 30 lbs total (13.8 pre-op/16.2 post op). Learning to add in foods and not get all crazy seeing the daily calories rise from 400ish to 700 per day. My old mind says "Oh no! Now you're going to gain with that increase. This process won't work for you!" Then my new mind kicks in and logic prevails. It's funny how our old "diet" minds are always there with illogical thoughts. This is as much of a mental journey as it is a physical journey. Anyone else find themselves with inner voices doubting?

Anyone else experiencing very vivid dreams post op? My dreams are way more intense then they ever were preop. Some of them very fun and exciting 😎 some of them not but mostly all good. Not sure if it’s from not eating as much and losing weight quickly or something else. Not worried about it but just one of those unexpected side effects.

irol888 reacted to Angelx in Hi everyone!
I'm super shy and haven't really reached out to anyone yet. My entire process started really slow and has literally been moving so fast that it's hard to keep up. I started this process in July. My highest weight was 401 and my current weight is 360. I met with the surgeon yesterday, my surgery is scheduled for next Friday and my liquid diet starts today. It's hard to believe that I've met all my goals, got cleared from nutrition and psychology and saw the surgeon in just a few months. It been almost surreal. I'm hoping to make a few friends and help encourage people going through this process too! Here's a little bit about me:
    Name: Angel
    Age: 26
    Height: 5'8
    Cw: 360
    Hw: 401
Nice to meet everyone! Good luck on your journeys.

Had RNY 11/13. My first meal was mashed taters. My go to after that was chilli with black Beans added in just chew real good. vanilla Greek yogurt with some chocolate Protein Powder as well. Now one hard boiled egg and I’m full. The food tastes way better then the liquid phase but don’t eat too fast. My first throw up was tonight after getting the foamies when I ate a egg and meat pie that was 1/8” thick - just ate way too fast.
