CyndieRI got a reaction from mlmx1138 in Just diet and exercise. WOW! Never considered that.
I have been wanting WLS for years but my husband always would say “just stop eating so much and you’ll lose weight!” DUH!! And like a fool, I put it off for years. This time I had all my pre-op testing and had a surgery date before I told him! He again tried to persuade me to NOT have the surgery - but I did it on 10/10/18 and I feel great! He eventually got on board (he didn’t have a choice) and he has been supportive now!

Please do not listen to all the huge problems have physically. People love to share those but thousands of people do not have any physical issues from recovering from surgery to keeping things down. I find people with no issues tend to stay quiet. You are doing this for quality of life. You are saving your life. Of course there is tons of doubt you are normal but if you stay on current path you know what you get. Take a chance for a fighting chance!

I thought I was prepared ( and I was) I think what I hadn’t researched was how cold I would be and the impact of it. It is Memorial Day weekend and I am wearing a sweatshirt and a hoody and the sun is shining and it’s a nice 72 degrees.. the days aren’t so bad but I SHIVER all night long.. believe me , I’ll take the cold over the boob sweat and chub rub,any day.. I was just surprised that after the first 25 lbs. ( now 64) that I’d be cold .. I’ll deal with it and when it’s 95 in New England and everyone around me is complaining I will NOT be a sweaty mess.. wooo hoooo

I wish I had known how real the struggle would be with constipation... lol TMI maybe, but I'm sure most people who have had the surgery would agree.
I was someone who NEVER had issues pre-surgery, so I was surprised when I had to start using products to go. It makes sense, but it wasn't on the list of things I talked about with my surgeon pre-op haha.

I wish I'd known about stalls. I wasn't expecting them and they're depressing but normal.

The one thing I wish I had thought of - do NOT bring an underwire bra to wear home from the hospital. It will be very uncomfortable!

My surgeon’s office has a “closet” - really more like a room - where you can drop off your big clothes and take clothes in your new size - for free! I think every office should consider doing this!

How far post op are you? I just posted a question because I’m 9 months out and having massive stomach pain - just came on suddenly. I was thinking maybe an ulcer but who knows! :(

I’m about 9 months post VSG surgery and I just started getting massive sharp pain in my stomach. It came on quite suddenly and hurts whether I’m standing, sitting or lying down. Any idea what this could be? Has this happened to anyone else? Prior to today I had been doing and feeling great! Thanks for reading!!

You could literally have the perfect xyz and someone who is COMPLETELY incompatible with you will find all the faults in the world
Likewise you could be a hotmess of stretch marks, batwings, crow's feet & melty parts but the RIGHT person will think you're the one they have been waiting for their entire lives
Choose the ones that will always choose you

I occasionally have vodka and I mix it with grape Crystal Light. It’s really good - and no sugar! I order vodka and Water (not soda water) and bring little Crystal Light packages with me to mix in. Good luck!!
